So the main Chef from my favourite gastro-pub (The Ginger Fox) has gone and opened this restaurant in a very sleepy part of West Sussex. Well, he has raised his game - bravo! The food is excellent. The prices are more than fair. It is not another pretentious restaurant, like I would label "The Pass" near Horsham. You get solid... More

We had a three-course meal here today and what a meal it was! I have experienced a lot of top restaurants in London and this surpassed all of those by a county mile. The attention to detail in every mouthful is incredibly well thought through. My husband and I are both GLUTEN-INTOLERANT so eating out can often be difficult but... More

We ate lunch here . Staff were lovely. Very attentive. This is a fantastic restaurant. The food was well presented but portions were very small and food and drink very expensive, Lovely for a treat or special occasion

Under new ownership, the Fig Tree is quickly becoming one of the best restaurants in Sussex. Went for Christmas Eve lunch as a family and the food was just excellent. Made to feel very welcome from the minute we arrived. Each course was cooked to perfection especially the main courses of Cod, Pheasant and Tortellini. Lunch for 4 with 2... More

We visited for dinner last weekend & can't recommend highly enough. The service was second to none - welcoming, friendly & attentive. The food was amazing! All three courses were divine & we will definitely be back. We are so lucky to have such a gem in our village.

We visited The Fig Tree last week for the first time since it's been under new management. We'd enjoyed the food previously so hoped we still would. One of the party had the set menu and the rest of us went à la carte. I ate the venison and it was fabulous. My husband had the beef and enjoyed his... More

Had a three course lunch from the a la carte menu and a carafe of wine. Service was good but unfortunately the food did not quite live up to expectations. The little amuse bouche and the starters of duck egg and cured salmon were alright. However, both mains disappointed- the goats cheese tortellini was stuffed with a rather strong cheese... More

The Fig Tree restaurant is under new ownership since my last visit. It is owned, and managed, by local girl Jodie and her husband James. On this occasion we visited to celebrate my husband's birthday and, from the moment we walked through the door, we felt we were in the company of good friends. It must be difficult for any... More

My wife and I visited The Fig Tree last Thursday at 6.30. We had the reasonably priced set menu which was available at this time. Both of us were delighted with the quality of the cooking and decided to indulge ourselves with a dessert. To describe these as the icing on the cake is an understatement. I cannot remember eating... We had the most delicious meal in a long time last night at this delightful restaurant in the heart of Hurstpierpoint. Despite being a fairly small village restaurant, the menu was sophisticated and appealing, making the final choice a difficult one. I opted for duck breast to start, followed by venison, and was unexpectedly treated to monkfish cheek as a... More
