Went on a Friday night for a meal with my partner. Sat down, asked for cocktail menu…. No cocktail menu on a Friday, no drinks menu available. The server started reading out the list of spirits behind the bar. Ordered the chicken supreme. Meal came out, chicken was tough, veg hard and the sauce was tasteless and full of oil. My partner ordered a steak and it was cold and very tough. Paid over £70 for two meals and a drink each. Could of done a full weeks shop for that

We had Sunday lunch at the Littleton for eleven people. Our drink order was taken quickly and due to the size of our party we had pre-ordered our meals . Our starters came quickly and ranged from chicken tikka to mussels in a delicious sauce . This was then followed by our roast lunch. Beautifully cooked meat with a good selection of vegetables and a Yorkshire pudding. We also had cauliflower cheese as an extra side which was delicious. Desserts were very good and good size servings. One of our party can't eat dairy and particular care was taken, by the staff, that everything was dairy free for her. A very enjoyable meal and good service. Thank you.

We decided to have a night out and knew that The Littleton had a new menu so we thought we'd give it a try. As usual the service we received was great, the serving staff do the place proud. The bread and oils starter was good with the homemade garlic butter a nice touch. However when our mains came they were clearly overcooked. We both chose the squid ink tagliatelle with pan fried cod loin. The pasta was clearly overcooked, being soft, mushy and tasteless. Whilst my wife's fish was opaque and flaked away easily, mine was hard, rubbery and again overcooked. When we advised the staff of our issue they apologised that the food had taken so long to cook, I got the impression that the kitchen knew it was overcooked but served it anyway. They did knock a round of drinks off the bill but the 2 meals were still nearly £40. We do like The Littleton but probably won't be back for dinner anytime soon.

There was a large group of us that booked into The Littleton Arms. The staff were absolutely fantastic, from sweeping up glass underneath our table outside to the waiter service and also the clean up of accidental smashed glass at the end of the night (sorry about that!) They allowed our dogs inside too which was fab! Food was absolutely delicious, we would highly recommend most of the menu. We were slightly disappointed with the calzone starter, there was a lot of dough in comparison to the filling. All round an excellent pub in a lovely village. Thank you ❤️

Possibly the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. Food cold, beef over cooked, vegetables that had either been over cooked or not cooked at all. We only had one tiny dish of vegetables for four adults but this turned out to be a blessing. As the main meal was pretty much inedible we were forced to look at the desserts. My desert the Black Forest cheesecake was awful, a sickly block of goo. On a plus the coffee was OK

Called in for lunch on bank holiday Monday. Took a while for anybody to come & find us a table, to the point we were about to leave and maybe we should have done. Young staff, barely a smile between them. Ordered fish & chips which was missing the tartare sauce & was quite greasy. Partner ordered the mushroom burger which was unseasoned & tasteless. Burger bun was obviously a stale bun that had been defrosted in the microwave & crumbled away during eating. No condiments were offered (chips with no vinegar!). Desserts sounded nice but were quite expensive so we didn't stay for a pud after such a poor main

I visit the Littleton Arms in Penkridge every so often to enjoy drinks with friends, however less so for food as I find the menu quite limited for my taste A few weeks ago, 7 of us visited the restaurant for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were seated in a quiet area of the restaurant and the service was really quick. Our waitress, along with the rest of the staff, were very friendly and attentive I ordered the small fish and chips with a side of onion rings to share - the portion sizes were just right and the food was really tasty. The only downside was that the meal was served with garden peas - I would have liked the option to have mushy peas with my meal We really enjoyed our visit to the Littleton and the staff ensured that our friend's birthday was made special I would visit here again for food but I do wish the menu was less limited

We decided to host our son’s 21st birthday meal here at The Littleton Arms as it was midway between where all the family lived and we were so pleased with the service and food we received. We all had starters, mains and desserts which were presented beautifully, generous portions and all tasted amazing. Everyone cleared their plates and commented on how impressed they were. Even though it was busy in there staff were very friendly and attentive and provided for all our needs. Thank you so much, it was a perfect evening and we would highly recommend!

We've been coming here for more years than I would care to remember! Tonight we were served by Megan, who was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent as ever, and the background music suitably 1980s to make us feel like we belonged 😃 Always a nice evening at the Littleton, with reliably good food and beer and excellent service from Megan.

Good Evening sorry for the late review. I came to you in june 2023 for my annual visit and i was overly concerned for the welfare of one of the boys he had brown hair and was around 5ft 6in he was wearing a checkered shirt and has braces for that i can remember his name was either derek or daniel he was extremely rude towards me and my friends he asked us for our order then became very rude and continued to say that he was very busy and had no time for us to mess around deciding what we want he then left to ask the chef if they could cook my vegan food for longer and when my meal came it was hard all the way through and the chips were very greasy and tasted like they was frozen chips i then complained to my server and he then became very angry and told me that the chef did what u asked for he then persisted to get me a new meal but i asked for vegan sauce and he gave me a sauce containing beef which then made me utterley disgusted , if i was any of you i would not be going to the littleton to be served by a disgraceful young man i hope he gets what he deserves and learns to treat customers with more respect. Thankyou Karen Smith

We stopped here due to the rising cost of accommodation during the commonwealth games, and it worked really well! We ate before 6pm and got the dinner deal of 2 courses for £18. Salmon pasta was lovely! Breakfast ain’t served until 8am but they prepared two breakfasts to go, pastries, yoghurts and fruit, tea/coffee also. The room was spacious, room 5, it was road front but not overly noisy, ear plugs supplied if you wish. All clean and presentable. A nice town, we walked around and took a canal walk past the long boats, very relaxing and a good way to help digest dinner. Well done!

I ordered a starter of “crab & avocado crumpet”. The crumpet itself was pleasant and hot, and the crab was tasty, but it was spoiled by the awful seaweed butter and dried up spring onion. For my main dish, I ordered “crispy chili beef salad” which was very disappointing. The beef was very chewy indeed, far from being crispy; the salad was very tired-looking to the extent of looking as though it had been made two or three days earlier. My wife started with “Korean pork terrine” which was very solid and heavy which needed to have some bread to accompany it and which had to be ordered separately and £1 added to the bill. Her main dish was “The Littleton Arms 8oz beef burger” for which she specified “no bun”. The burger was tasty and very meaty but, again, the salad was very tired and stale looking. We were disappointed that the bread to accompany the pork terrine starter was charged-for when no bun was had with the burger. The staff were pleasant and helpful and service was good.

It was a lovely day out. The family had a wonderful time and the food was lovely. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is because the soup starter was too salty for some of my relatives, and one had to send theirs back. Other than that, the Sunday Roasts were lovely and the desserts were very tasty. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely come back.

Came here with family and have to say it’s one of the nicest pubs around. We stayed visiting family and will sure be back. Rooms are comfortable and the welcoming from the team even better! Breakfast served in the morning was delicious and the kids loved the pancakes. We had a meal at lunchtime which was just as good! Can’t wait to visit again!

Very disappointed ! As a local family, we’ve always been huge fans of this place. However, since Davenports have taken ownership it’s gradually gone downhill. Our visit yesterday, was the final straw and won’t be visiting again for some time. Sunday dinner: Roast chicken, was just a dried out chicken breast- not including a leg/wing or the skin? Not what I’d expect for a ‘roast’? Potatoes were not crispy and gravy was ok, but lost that flavour it was so famous for at the Lit! Overall the food was good enough and not the main reason for my review. The service: No offer of a drink upon being seated. We waited so long we had to go to the bar ourselves. TWICE! Staff walking past despite us staring directly at them, no thought of them taking our food order? Had to wave them over (even the manager). Basic wines not in stock- no Pinot blush and then no Pinot at all? Couple next to us were ready to walk out, again no drink offered upon seating- we had to shout across the room, for attention. Food served, no thought to ask if we wanted sauces? Again had to wave them over. While taking a rest from eating- knife/fork still open, waiter came to clear. We had not finished. Very slow service, lack of basic training-even the manager. What do they use to clean the tables??? Everything is sticky? Such a shame….

Hi Caroline, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. We have had new management recently and we hope you give us another try soon to rectify the problems you experienced on this occasion. It seems a lot of basic training had been missed, this is something the new manager is pouring her time into. We hope you give us another chance to show we can deliver 5* service. Side note our tables have been re varnished which has sorted the “sticky” table problem we had. The Littleton Arms Team.
