Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Chandlers is one of those pubs that doesn't shout about being a pub. It sits on a corner and could easily be mistaken for one of the village's houses. However, once inside you realise this is just what a village pub should be, a...cosy, social hub for local yokels and visitors alike. The Sunday lunch (I had the chicken) was delish, reasonable value, and the bar staff friendly. It's an easy 4 blobs for the Chandler's. We shall return.More

Amazing food really yummy. The best thing about this pub is the chef/chefs. The Sunday lunch was lovely and after we finished we gave our dog the left over veg on a plastic coaster thing that the bowl of veg had been on. The landlady...came over, made no eye contact with us, snatched the coaster up, and threw the veg at our dog! We live a long way from this pub and come here quite a lot, just for the delicious Sunday lunch. I've never been made to feel more awkward and unwelcome! The landlady so so aggressive! I really wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of her. Needless to say, we won't ever go back. If you have a dog, don't expect to be welcome here!More

I’d heard great reviews about this pub. A lot of my friends have been recently and have said how good the food is. The food is good. There’s a large and varied menu and the portions are generous. It’s just a shame that our ladies...night out started on a sour note. On arrival at the pub we said that we had a booking and were told where to find out table. We found it, sat down and started to chat. A few moments later a waitress came and asked to take our order. We told her that we were sorry but we hadn’t looked at the menu yet. They hadn’t been handed to us but were placed at the table setting with a napkin on top. The waitress very bluntly told us that we had booked a table for 6.45. and that they had other tables to serve. We were a bit dumbfounded! We asked the lady who was cleaning the next table, apparently she’s the landlady, if the table was ours for the evening. She too bluntly responded by telling us yes, but if we’d wanted to chat first we should have booked a table for 7.30!! We were happy to have booked a table for 6.45, we just wanted a chance to look at the menu. The food came out quickly and was nice. Unfortunately we felt like we were an inconvenience being there and we didn’t feel welcome. Sadly on that basis we did not leave a tip and will not be returning.More

Staying in the area for a family funeral, we dropped in on the off chance we could get a decent meal. Although it was really busy, we received a warm and friendly welcome and a table was quickly found for us. The meal didn’t disappoint,...generous servings and quick service. Would highly recommend to anyone and definitely visit again. ArrivedMore

6 of us came for my friends birthday meal. We are always made to feel very welcome as soon as we enter the pub. The service is spot on. Very attentive and always with a smile. Every meal we have here is outstanding. Really is...the best food in the area. Plentiful, hot and plenty to choose from off the menu. We really recommend this place and already looking forward to coming back.More

We have been a few times to meet up with family for dinner and yet again what a great night. This is what a pub is all about a warm welcome, friendly locals, amazing menu for a village pub better than any restaurant beautiful food,...incredible prices. The pub is lovely inside I can't recommend this enough. If we lived nearer we would be here all the time. Can't wait to go back absolutely love it. Thank you to all the staff this is what hospitality is all about.More

Pleasant ivy clad pub in the centre of the village and at the heart of the local community. There's a good range of ales on offer, including some local brews. So far, so good, but we found the food here somewhat disappointing. Actually, there's not...a lot wrong with it, as standard pub grub goes, but that is all it was - standard pub grub. The menu on their website advertises seabass in parsley cream sauce, beef medallions in bacon & mushroom sauce, tuna steak in a sweet chilli sauce and other such delights. Admittedly this is a 'sample menu' but the reality was nothing like this at all. So it was a bit of a disappointment when our expectations were raised to a certain level but the reality was actually just pub grub. Perhaps we were just unlucky to visit on a day when the regular chef was away. I can only rate the pub on what was our personal experience.More

We visited today with my mum, dad and sister and had the most amazing Sunday lunch. We had a fantastic Sunday roast and couldn't fault a thing and we were determined that this warranted a glowing review. The most tender pork and lamb with a...great and generous selection of fresh vegetables. All followed up with my favorite homemade treacle tart with custard. Our complements to the Chefs and all who worked there, we will be back, so good, I almost wanted to keep it a secret to ourselves. 10/10.More

Excellent food with a good choice from a varied Sunday menu. Friendly staff, good seating outside and a pretty village. Only negative and why I dropped them a point is that they will not serve drinks with the meal, you have to go to the...bar, which is incredibly annoying if you are halfway through your meal.More
