Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Delicious home made food . Wide choice for all diets and staff are very helpful in accommodating special needs. The food is freshly prepared to order so ingredients can be altered. Also wide-range of local soft drinks (and cocktails) freshly made with natural ingredients. Not...seen this in many other Tobagoian restaurants. Many of the fresh salad crops and herbs are grown in the garden at Kariwak. Ask to see this if you are a non resident (we were) it is a charming tropical oasis and a hacen for peace and calm even though it is v close to the airport (most flights are small planes to Trinidad). We were the only people eating at 12.00 and the staff made us welcome and did not rush us and let us enjoy our surroundings.More

We ate here 3 times and each time was great. There is limited choice on the menu but at least you know the food is fresh with little waste. Particularly enjoyed the soups and fish dishes. Service was good - friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere....But it was quite quiet so I hope this food review encourages more people to visit!More

Nice atmosphere but the food was disappointing considering how expensive it was. Soup was good as a starter but some local fish and rice was very disappointing at £60 for two!!

Very limited menu, and no rum punch available, and despite there claims very little for the vegan in our group. Lobster was off because of an oil spillage, but claims limes were not available seemed a bit unlikely

Set menu not very exciting. Food below average considering the cost of it. Cocktails were fairly poor. Service was slow as only one person serving the whole restaurant. Honestly, this place was recommended by two people who came here many years back. I don't think...it's the same management chef staff or waitress. I feel there has been a serious change in direction or a loss of a senior member which has led to this decline.More

We enjoyed our first meal here very much, in spite of a very limited menu (one soup only for starter, one fish and one chicken dish for main, and cake or ice cream for dessert). As we are not too keen on fish we chose...the chicken, which was excellent. The soup was also very tasty. We booked a second night, and although the chicken dish was billed as different from the first time, it was very similar, and very tasty. Booking a third night was, in hindsight, a mistake, since the chicken was undoubtedly the same again, in spite of a different name. The surrounding were delightful, and the service very good. It's the lack of variety that lets it down.More

A pleasent open air restaurant in a quiet location. I believe it is part of a hotel complex so the menu was Table d'hote with a limited choice. On my vivit it was quiet but i would advise checking in advance to see the days...menu. Reasonably priced and good quality, i particularly liked the spicy pumpkin soup.More

We visited Kariwak restaurant earlier this week and were pleased with the friendly reception from our server. We hadn’t booked but they fitted us in without fuss. The menu was short (only two choices of main) but the food was nicely cooked and well presented,...and very tasty. It was one of the more expensive meals we’ve had on our holiday however I think it’s worth it for the good food and relaxing vibe in the restaurant - would definitely go again.More

We read the reviews and actually booked our reservation at the location. We liked the ambiance, therefore we were very much looking forward to our diner reservation. It is very understated for me to say that we were terribly underwhelmed…… The server read out the...menu, but when she returned stated that there were no options. If we were to stay, we had to accept what we were given for our starter and our main. In hindsight we should have asked how much the meal was going to cost us before we committed to staying. 😩 Actually, the food was not awful……. But…………. It definitely, definitely, definitely was NOT worth £75! We will definitely be avoiding this place for the duration of our 3 week stayMore

Been coming for years but last visit was disappointing. Service whilst friendly, the food was slow to prepare. They had run out of rum punches and of wine! Yet it is also a hotel as well as restaurant. We had to go to local supermarket...to buy some wine!More

This was the only restaurant in Tobago where would could have a delicious romantic sit down vegan dinner. You must make reservations since they have a set menu and if you are requesting the vegan menu they must know in advance. The food was plated...beautifully and was extremely good. We had stewed peas, roasted plantain, eggplant, broccoli and rice for our main meal. Appetizer was a lentil, split pea soup that was so yummy and for desert we had had a tropical fruit bowl. The dining area is outside but well covered and the ambiance was lovely.More

Kariwak is a place where we go to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. The rooms are simple, and understated. The grounds of the hotel more than make up for it. From the birds that accompany breakfast to the grand ajoupa next...to herb garden, to the hammocks in the back, we spend little time in our rooms. The hotel staff are warm and friendly, and because it is a relatively small operation, the personal touch shines through. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a place to go and unplug.More

For as long as I can remember...once we are in Tobago we must visit Kariwak for dinner and they never disappoint. Quaint romantic atmosphere with really good service...the food always sumptuous...this last time we had shrimp in a delightful garlic sauce with dessert of good...old fashioned home made ice cream. So yes..will see the Kariwak family again very soon.More

Service was a bit slow. The meal was excellent. The coconut toast bake was to die for!! If birds freak you out this place is not for you at this time of the day (morning) because the bananaquits are all over your table.

Hello, I'm not sure about the lunch menu since we had dinner a-la-carte. However for three people our bill was around $700 TTD which would be approximately £70. Hopefully this will help.
