My sister recently got married here and I couldn't fault the day, venue and the staff. From the earlier steps 2 years ago up into my he final day everything was amazing. The staff are a credit to The Maynard and nothing was too much...trouble. Excellent venue.More

Came for my nieces wedding and it was a lovely day. Beautiful place and the room was great. Would definitely visit again.

This is our second time staying here this year, but first time with our 1 year old. Reception was very lovely and helpful when we arrived. We stayed in the Fleetwood room (I believe it was called). The room size is fantastic, and the cot...was in the room as requested. We had dinner both nights we stayed, both excellent. As well as the breakfast. They even catered for our one year old, and all the staff were very helpful with our requests. Only a few things with the room. The windows would get very damp overnight, and this is leading to the paint underneath the windows to peel, and the carpet to be wet. The sofa was also very stained, and the bath had a few marks in. But nonetheless, we had an excellent stay and are looking forward to coming back again!More

We had our wedding at the Maynard, and it was incredible. We only ever viewed one venue on our hunt for our perfect wedding venue, The Maynard. We had 4 other viewings in the same week but decided once we saw The Maynard we needn’t...look and further, and I’m so glad. Lisa, my goodness, she is amazing! Nothing is too much trouble, right from the get go Lisa was on the ball with everything! She knew exactly what to say, what to do and when we needed her! I will forever be grateful to her for making our wedding day so perfect! Vas, our evening events supervisor was also so helpful, making sure everything was as we wanted for the end of our wedding, the events team at The Maynard really are incredible. Thank you for our gorgeous wedding day, and all of the rooms (as always) were gorgeous to stay in, and as usual, absolutely incredible food. Excellent food, great atmosphere, heavenly views, incredible staff. Can’t recommend this place enough. This recent visit was the 2nd year in a row that I’ve ordered a BD cake for my husband. As always, the cake was delicious and the staff were incredibly great and...helpful. The cake was a surprise for my husband and the staff were playing along so well throughout. I even had to go and check if the lovely lady serving us knew the plan - she did! :) Thank you all for another fab experience.More

Booked this hotel on the day as a last minute thing when we decided not to camp. I was more than pleasantly surprised at the hotel as I had not put much effort into looking for a hotel with it been last minute. Reception staff...were lovely and helpful. We initially booked the smallest room (the snug) was beautifully decorated and finished to a very high standard. Despite this room being small (three quarter bed?) it had everything you needed for a single person or couple. We did end up seeing how much it would be for a bigger room and for under £5 we managed to upgrade to a family room. Again, this room was lovely with loads of space and a separate bath and shower. The little extras really made this hotel stand out; coffee machine in room, water, dressing gown and hair dryer. This was perfect for our u expected stay in the hotel as I hadn’t brought anything comfy to relax in as we were supposed to camp. Bar area was lovely and cosy and the little nibbles we ordered went down a treat. The restaurant is a stunning little area too. Breakfast was an easy 10/10. Cooked to perfection with stunning views of the garden area. I loved the leaflet in the room highlighting the walks, which all started direct from the hotel. We didn’t have much time so done the short one (jubilee rock) and despite the heavy rain we still enjoyed this. My only two negatives which stopped this being a 5 star review was in the bar when the barrel went after pouring one pint we had to choose another for the second pint rather than being offered the opportunity to wait while he changed the barrel. The second point was we both went to use the bath and shower at about 10:30pm and the water in the bath went cold after only getting it filled about a quarter of the way. So this was a quick and rather cold bath. I used the shower and could not get the water to go very hot despite fiddling with the dial. The dial didn’t even have any markings on. To be fair, I could have and maybe should have called reception and didn’t. I just made do with what I had. All in all this is still a stunning hotel, beautiful location with lovely friendly staff. Despite the two small niggles, I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area, which proves how much we enjoyed our stay.More

We had a lovely lunch with family in the Maynard. Lovely atmosphere, lovely decor and layout with a special mention for beautifully trained staff. All this done is a professional and friendly manner. Been here a couple of times and prefer The George in Hathersage but it is closed due to flooding. Restaurant was busy with only a couple of tables empty and some large groups. Difficult to find something less unusual on the menu so went for...the burger which was OK. Belly pork was unusual and a crispy skin might have improved it. The sponge pudding was nice. I noticed the children’s menu only had one starter which didn’t look very child friendly. “Great hospitality, heritage and a warming sense of community” - I think this is an accurate description from the website. The food seemed pretty average.More

Food was wonderful, well priced, excellent service and the rooms are fantastic for the price. Would travel back here to the area again simply for the stay and meal.More
