Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Roast lamb, lots of it, cooked beautifully. Nice veg also cooked to perfection. We opted for the Belgium Waffle and three spoons, the chef cut it in three and gave us all small piece with the Devine salted caramel sauce. The young men that served...us were charming.More

We were in Weymouth on holiday! This place looked really fab so we called in to have a bite to eat! We had a few drinks while we looked through the fab looking menu while a lady with short hair collected glasses at our table....She came across as very unfriendly. There was no hello or even a smile from her 😳 The cigarette smoke billowing in from the outside seating area was just choking (should be a non smoking zone with windows being open) To top it off there was a table with a dog! yes, dog 🤢 sitting on a chair while the owner fed it food & along with it’s intermittent barking at other passing dogs put us right off staying there for food. We left feeling very disappointed. Dogs should not be allowed in a food establishment end of!!! 🦠🦠🦠🦠More

Sons 18th, his mum booked a table. We went, I paid, I didn't eat as I don't go frozen food. But it was a ok evening. My other son and his family booked a table for 7 of us, father's Day dinner. Seated, they took...our orders then I noticed that the serviettes were stuck to the table and the surface was disgusting. Staff were contacted and sent to wipe the area down. After he'd departed the smell of the rancid cloth need used was so overpowering that we got up and left. I spoke to the landlord beforehand and took him to the area and the smell was unmistakable even to him. I'll never go back again. Rank amateurs serving very mediocre food. It needs a full hardcore clean.More

Good meal, hot and tasty. Lovely waitress Laura, very efficient and friendly. We had to wait nearly an hour for our meal, but it was exceptionally busy, so couldn't be helped. Nice atmosphere. Will definitely go again

Been to this pub and all staff are friendly. I had Green Thai curry which is picante and very delicious. They had DJ at night, me and my friend had so much fun dancing. Highly recommend to visit.

Good Sunday roast but would have preferred gravy on the side. Very busy and what seemed like the owner/manager didn’t do very much whilst the two remaining waiters/waitresses were run off their feet and food delayed. Lovely spot, old fashioned pub but needs some tlc.

We had several meals here and it’s time I gave a review. The Sunday roast costs £12.95 and usually has three option s of meat; can order one meat or a mixture. The whole meal is delicious, with lovely thick, rich gravy. Compliments to the...chef. Gaynor is usually our waitress and she is so friendly and helpful…nothing is too much trouble. Fresh flowers are on each table…a nice touch, and there is always a lovely warm atmosphere. Pay them a visit if you’re on holiday here…you won’t regret it.More

Such a lovely place. We booked the skittle alley for a Saturday night birthday party. The room had been beautifully prepared.....a long table to seat 20 people, nice and warm temperature and fairy lights all over to make the occasion special. Communication leading up to...the event was excellent. We popped in and met the landlord and the chef and they were very welcoming and helpful. The skittles worked perfectly and all ages, from 5 to 69, enjoyed the activity very much. We had asked for food to be served at 7pm and it appeared exactly on time. Everyone commented on the tasty food.....hot and beautifully presented. Well done to all concerned. This pub deserves to thrive and my family wishes them the very best for the future.More

Not a great experience Dry chicken, dry potatoes bistro beef gravy, funny tasting cauliflower, very limited dessert menu Even though we came in at 12.30 we were told if we wanted dessert we would have to wait a minimum of 45 minutes. Lots of errors...with reservation and drinks and an aggressive response to being told it wasn’t very good…….I find that hard to believe, did you eat it….. then drinks removed before they were finished. I wouldn’t go again!More

A lovely inviting atmosphere with a crackling fire on cold days created by Pete and his team and stunning cookery by Chef Ilie makes this the best place to go for a traditional Sunday lunch. If you don't eat meat then I highly recommend the...beetroot wellington with port sauce.More

Twelve of us enjoyed dinner from the Christmas menu and it was absolutely delicious. This is restaurant quality dining - not just pub grub but with a cosy, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere . Great vegetarian options as well. If you haven't been to the Old...Ship since Pete and his team took over a few months ago then you need to give it a try.More
