330 Minke whales are taken each year from international waters for scientific puropses and wind up in restaurants. Think before you eat.

I have had a lot of fish, and meat before and during my honey moon trip to Japan, I wanted to try Whale and Horse meat sashimi. Kujiraya is famous for its Whale meat and supposedly eating whale meat is beneficial for your "health". Someone pls check up on that. We ordered the recommended set and we thought the meat... More

A childish, romantic whim... A desire, a curiosity. I've eaten every kind of food, the whale was missing... A very japanese-style restaurant, sober and woody, quiet and relaxing, a real island surrounded by the noisy waves of Shibuya, a ghost ship with the legendary "Pequod" charme... The Captain Ahab, as in the first part of the Moby Dick tale, is... More

Delicious whale restaurant in Shibuya near the 109 mall (not in the 109 mall, but on the same block at the perimeter). We were curious about trying whale in Japan so we decided to go here since we heard it was English-friendly and a great place. We were definitely not disappointed! We got there at around 5:30-6 and were seated... More

Good whale meat. First time. Small place, may miss it amongst all the tall buildings but the owner refused to sell out his restaurant.

The whole spectre of whale meals, starting from whale tongue and finishing with whale cutlets and steak. Perfect service. Easy find location in 109 store building in Shibuya. Very tasty. It was filmed in Behind The cove movie last year. A must to try in Japan!

Some of my friends told me I'm a "sinner", a very bad one. Because we should try to avoid the extinction of the whale. But sorry guys, I have to admit that, I had never tried that kind of meat in my life and I was curious. It was very delicious, mostly when it was cooked in its japanese suace.... More

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
