Really great. Interesting location down a winding staircase and makes you feel like your underground. Personal service with the chef who is very nice and communicates well even with a language barrier. Food was fantastic. Defiantly recommend

This is the first restaurant I visited in my 2 weeks stay here. I seriously thought of prolonging my stay if it was up to me. So I came to Japan and I tasted Japan. A very small neat place, great food at a great price. My meal cost around Y4200 and I did not regret spending it. I had... More

It was a delightful experience to have our first Kaiseki dining experience when in Japan. The place is very small, maybe eight tables and a counter. Hence reservations are recommended. It is located below the street level and has a cave like cozy interiors with simplistic minimalistically done interiors. The mood lighting adds to the coziness inside. Our dinner had... More

We looked for this restaurant on our anniversary night just to be greeted by "am sorry, reservation only". It didn't say anything in anybody the reviews I read though. Disappointing.

This is a seriously nice restaurant with beautifully cooked and presented courses. The meal consists of multiple small tastes and courses with no choices on the night we went. The service was friendly and the place has a very nice feel to it. It's just amazing that queues form for food that is nowhere near as good as this.

If you want a trip through lots of different Japanese dishes this is a great place to go, and not too expensive.

Difficult to find - there is a cave like entrance on the corner with stairs going down into the unknown. Set lunch only for 1000 yen including tea. Miso soup, bowl of rice mixed with small fish and around 10 small items, all delicious. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend this place! Touring Tokyo was so much fun but a little busy for us, so we were looking for nice dinner for a break... we found that Agaru was perfect. We really enjoyed delicious and beautiful Kaiseki course with sake. As they have only course menu, I recommend you to visit when you have enough time.

Wonderful place! It was more than I've expected! Their course menus, including cutlet and tempura, was very nice and casual kaiseki, traditional Japanese food. Oh, I just loved it! English menus and kind service were helpful too. I'll definitely come back.

Fantastic! Several dimensions of Japanese cuisines in one creative diner. One fixed menu with 8 dishes (you only have to chose between the 2 main dishes). Just a few tables and a bar, nice ambiance ("modern troglodyte cave").The service was excellent with explanation of all the dishes. Drink: shochu with hot water. Great place to relax after a walk in... More

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
