Well I don't know if people have noticed but all over Asia there is a battle over "croissant ", who can amaze or thrille with the best artisanal or original croissant, so as we love croissant and pain au chocolat there we went to Gontran, artisans baker...a fluffy crispy croissant very expensive, as we are in Tokyo, a bit disappointed... Overall a really great option for breakfast. French fare for breakfast with decent coffee. At 7:30 am there is a ten minute queue which is a good sign. You grab a plate and tongs and basically help yourself. Then you pay and head upstairs. Breakfast for two ran about 2,000 yen so I wouldn't say this place is cheap but... More

I could see myself going back here and become a regular customer. The pastry were delectable, especially the their croissant tower with a hint of french flag! Overall bread and pastry taste not too sweet, everything was just wonderful.

Yes it is indeed Buttery and Flakiness of their Crossiant is so good and all other selections are all very tasty. Once you picked and paid for your selection , you can go upstairs to enjoy your treats and people watching !!! Price is decent in Japan standard.

Found this bakery while wandering in Shinjuku. Unlike many other bakeries, where goods looked wonderful but tasted bland to average, everything was delicious. Pastries were crisp and flaky. The cherry pastry was a big hit with my wife and daughter.

Beautiful displayed food and very good French coffee. The baguettes and pastries are really good with an option to eat in or take out. Cheap prices for real quality.

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
