We went there First to check it out but as soon as you arrive in the hallway the receptionist ask you what you want to do and they stand next to you until you enter their bar or leave the building. We came into the bar and immediately asked to sit by the window and the girl said she has... More

There are a few famous bars in the world whose history is part of the experience. The New York bar at the Park Hyatt Tokyo is one of them. But it wouldn't be enough if the bar didn't have amazing views, entertainment, service and ambience. You are paying for all of that and imo it's worth it. On the 2... More

Drinks weren't cheap, but man, the view was worth it. We were in Tokyo for a work trip, and went up here to visit some of the Lost in Translation filming locations. So much more than that. We were lucky enough to see sunset up here, on a non-smoggy day, and it was breathtaking. Go before 8pm (I think it's... More

Probably the best high end bar in Tokyo. The view from the 52nd floor is stunning, and the floor to ceiling windows allow to enjoy it fully. A great jazz band plays every night, only making it better. Went there for drinks, but the bar food they serve looked great as well. Service is what you would expect from a... More

Came here with a group of 5 friends because of the movie "Lost in Translation". While the cocktails are good, it is slightly on the high side. In addition there is a cover charge since we are not staying at the hotel - which drives the pricing further up. I must add, the jazz band is fantastic. Would I come... More

You certainly can enjoy a wonderful view from there. If you are a smoker there is also a nice bar with some nice life music. If you are non smoker your suit needs one night to recover from cold smoke odor. Getting to the hotel by car is a kind of difficult. But you usually don't drive there by yourself.... More

The New York Bar should not be confused with the New York Grill, they are adjacent to each other but still seperate. The only draw-back with the bar, it is smoky and for those who do not smoke, it can be a little too much. Therefore, visit just as it opens around 5.30pm and you can still have a very... More

We went to the New York Bar exclusively because of Lost in Translation, we wanted to soak up some of the iconography and the bar ladled it out to us liberally. The bar looks exactly as it did in the movie. We were lucky enough to be seated at the long high table where Bill Murray's character first meets Scarlet... More

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
