Tried the tuna salad udon. Is a cold dish. My first cold udon. Is amazingly delicious! Ingredients are super fresh. Worth trying!

This was one of my more pleasant meals in Japan, in a nice restaurant on a corner between our hotel and the west exit of Shinjuku station. Not smoke filled like so many other restaurants in this area. Mostly udon noodle dishes, some plastic models displayed in the window but there is also an English menu with pictures. Very foreigner... I have been going to this restaurant for years and it has continually delivered the best Udon in Shinjuku if not Tokyo.

On one of our first days exploring and it happened to be on a bank holiday, we were finding it difficult to find somewhere to eat. Being with a 'local' is somewhat advantageous but even if we weren't, it wouldn't have been a problem. Full English menu available and the service is fast. My first time having donburi and it... On our first trip to Japan as a family, we came across this restaurant when walking between our hotel and Shinjuku train station, Prices looked reasonable, which is to say it was average by Japanese standards, and the menu in English helped to make the place less intimidating for a foreign traveller. Good range of rice- or udon-based meals, from... More

As I'm sure most people who use TripAdvisor might sympathize, I'm a big planner when it comes to travel. I diligently research where to stay, what time of year to go, where to eat, buy tickets for attractions online ahead of time, etc. But even I have to admit that sometimes the best travel experiences are those that are completely... As I stayed on Kadoya hotel, I passed this restaurant for couple of times. On my way from Disney my daughter was very hungry and she got bored of eating sushi so we tried this restaurant. Unlike other restaurant in the area which can't accommodate 9 persons in the same table this restaurant can prepare table for 9. Also the... More

When you are visiting Tokyo, Japan you should try out this restaurant. The food (all kinds of noodles, rice, tempura) is always delicious and affordable. I have had lunch and dinner here already on many occasions in the last 10 year. Example: This week I had a tasteful rice dish with curry and pork cutlet and a drink for about... More

I recommend a restaurant called Sangokuichi. This is a Japanese noodles restaurant. I went there for the first time because my friend recommended this restaurant. She said that salad Japanese noodles of this restaurant are very delicious so I tried to order salad Japanese noodles. However there are several kinds of menu of salad Japanese noodles. For example, tomato salad... More

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
