Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This Indian takeaway was exceptional- had a couple of excellent beers while we were waiting- very nice real ales. Place was packed and could understand why.

Ordered late afternoon on a Friday for an 8 o’clock pickup for 11 people, ready on time and v reasonable price, excellent Indian food, all v tasty and large portions. Also stopped at the bar for a pint of their locally brewed IPA which also...really tasty. Overall an excellent pub with takeaway food.More

After coming here, we would never go anywhere else for an Indian, the food is just amazing and the staff are wonderful. On all occasions we have eaten here the land lady is very friendly and offered us a blanket when choosing to eat outside....And Andy the landlord is a great guy! We have bought family and friends here and they love the quirkiness of the pub. Side note: Unsure as to why some people on here are disappointed with the non restaurant situation. The staff are always happy to accommodate customers to eat either inside or outside on the tables. It’s not that outrageous or hard to understand! :)More

A great pub brewed pint whilst waiting for an Indian takeaway. Locals all very friendly & food was fabulous. If you're looking for a gastro pub this is isn't it but if you're after a decent drink in a characterful pub then this is it.

Nice pints from the pub, great food from the van in the car park, massive portions of chips. Great for stopping off while canoeing down the wye.

Great pub! Bonus of fab music and a micro brewery. The curries are enjoyable without being nuclear hot! Staff are lovely. Idiosyncratic yes; but all the better for that in our sterile society. We happily come here and bring family and friends, confident in a...good value meal and a great pint!More

I don't understand these last 2 reviews. 1. The food is fresh, 2. The sign and staff tell you that it's take away not a restaurant but eating at a table is available on take away cutlery. 3. It's a takeaway not a restaurant but...they allow you to use what was the restaurant if the pub is busy and you don't want to sit outside (pretty generous as it's NOT a restaurant). . As for the last one about relying on tourists, only one who looked at what beer they served then asked for beer not available would comment like this. Yes the landlord can be sarcastic but it's in humour not nastiness if you don't like it actually ask for beer that's available not ones that they clearly don't have! Personally we love this place.More

I happened to try this place on the off chance as I live relatively nearby but had never stopped off there but I'm glad I did. As a vegetarian I tend to find Indian takeaways hit and miss with their flavourings and options when it...comes to veggie food but River Spice is superb - their paneer curries are wonderful, very tasty and good portions for the money too. Another bonus is the local ales on tap, definitely give them a try when you pop in!More

Rudest barman in many a mile. He needs to remember that his business depends on tourists. Not a pleasure to deal with

Inspired by the review on TripAdvisor, we visited this restaurant. To put it bluntly, the TripAdvisor rating is way too high. We found out on site that only take-away food was served at the table. We ordered anyway. Well, we've been informed about it. Nevertheless,...I would like to have this mentioned for future guests. The whole menu was delivered to the table in a large bag. Cutlery, plates etc. were all served to the table as disposable crockery. The salad packed in small plastic bags. The food itself was below average and not fresh in our opinion. The ambiance in the back room was bad. The photos in Trip Advisor do not match what we found. The overall rating on TripAdvisor is way too high in my opinion. There is always 1 star, there is a second star for the food, which might have tasted a bit better if it had been served with normal crockery. Unfortunately I cannot give more stars. Sorry for this honest review but this has to be mentioned. All in all, the visit was a disappointment.More

Ate here and wasn't sure what to expect with it being attached to a pub... However, I had a really tasty, authentic curry. Everything was delicious. I had the garlic chilli lamb curry, with egg fried rice and chilli cheese naan. Service was quick, it...came piping hot with great portions and really good value for money!More

Strange vibe to this place. The inside of the pub is like your typical countryside local where a stranger steps in and feels all the eyes in the room, and the beer garden is basically a car park .... BUT wow what amazing food we...had there! The curries are so good, we almost came back the day after for a second visit! So tasty, we enjoyed them so much. Wish we were local as we would be ordering from there all the time! Glad there was a specific vegan menu- a large one too. The landlady was so friendly and kind, especially to our dog! Would recommend, don't be put off by first impressions.More

A bit quirky this place, but we’ll worth it if you’re happy for good beer and no frills tasty food! Excellent friendly staff and prompt food service. Enjoyed the curry and lovely home brewed beer. We sat outside in a pod to eat, which was...fine. Well used by locals and visitors to the area alike!More
