My wife and I went here for lunch, our first time ever, even though we live quite near. I would have said the cafe would be 'cheap and cheerful', but that doesn't do it justice. It was a very busy lunch time, at 12:20 only...a few tables were free. We could see staff working hard under pressure, so we accepted service taking quite a while. But when our meals did arrive, we were delighted with the food - generous portions, attractively presented, and deliciously tasty. Then, at the till, we were very impressed by the reasonable total price. So we'll be back. Hope my recommendation doesn't make crowds worse!More

I went to Owd Barn for a baby shower yesterday afternoon and it was lovely. We had afternoon tea and there was so much choice, lovely handmade quiches and yummy cakes. Would really recommend a visit to the farm shop and gift loft too! :)

Yesterday I had my baby shower at Owd Barn and it was totally perfect. The food, the staff, the atmosphere, everything was wonderful. There were 50 guests and staff were very attentive throughout the celebration taking drinks orders, clearing plates and making sure everyone was...happy. Second to none service and a wonderful venue for my baby shower. Thank you Owd Barn!More

I went to the Owd Barn tea room for a friend's baby shower and it was a really lovely day. The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice. The space was decorated nicely and although there were 50 guests, there was still space...to move around and chat. Will be back again in the future! Thanks Owd Barn xxMore

Booked this for fathers day having previously been and the food was delicious. Not so on this occasion. We were seated on arrival really quickly just after 10am. We had to wait for a good 20 mintues for someone to come and take our order....The food arrived 45-50 mins later and we were told there had been an issue in the kitchen and apolgised for our delay, however there were no hash browns left. We order 3 full english breakfast which should have 2 hash browns. 2 breakfasts had 1 each the 3rd had none. The bacon was what can only be described as a burnt offering. The sausages were dreadful. No taste over cooked and hard. The toast was so hard, but not burnt. There was a lot of grease on the plate. It was aparant that there was a lot of issues within the kitchen from the noises and burning smells coming from in there. We wasnt offered a discount on the food for not having everything we should have even though we heard others being offered a discount. Overall very disappoining and felt sorry for our daughter who had booked this for her dad.More

Never been before. Nice place and friendly staff. The soup was lovely but the sandwich was poor. Once slice of the bread was dry. Cheese bland. My partner enjoyed his pie though. I didn't complain cos he was paying. Wont go again.

Worst afternoon tea we have ever had. Booked for 6 people at a cost of £102. Sandwiches stale with minimal filling, half a scone, made up with jam and a tiny blob of cream in the middle, trifle without cake or fruit, poor quality pie...and sausage roll, dry lemon cake, soup you could stand your spoon in, tables unsuitable to afternoon tea, ran out of decaf coffee, chips were good though. Visited here before Covid and it was lovely, that is why we chose here for our celebration afternoon tea. Will not be returning. There are lots of great afternoon teas out there to be had, unfortunately this isn’t one of them.More

I am a regular visitor to this tea room and on a previous visit had seen the delightful 3-tiered stand coming out! So when it came to arranging something for my friends birthday I knew exactly where we could go! It was midweek and the...earliest we could book was 2pm. There were 4 of us and we were seated in the largest room with the fire. Each 3-tiered stand had 2 of everything. Food was delicious, especially the coronation chicken sandwich and the home-made soup, there was plenty of different types of food on the stand to chose from! I couldn’t finish all the desserts so they had bags we could take the cakes home in.More

We rang on a Friday to book a table for breakfast on Saturday. The lady who answered the phone could hardly hear us as the background noise from customers was so loud. We made a mental note that Fridays must be very busy. The next...day there were four of us for breakfast. My husband and I had visited before and it was a first time visit for our friends. The building itself has been so well done! We loved everything and were soon sitting down ready for our breakfast. Everything was perfect! We were welcomed when we arrived and our order was taken in a professional and pleasant manner. My husband requested extra hollandaise sauce which arrived with his breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. We were not rushed. As we left everyone said goodbye. It was a lovely, pleasant, experience.More

Visited the farm shop , what a lovely polite lady, very helpful and polite , fantastic butchers, and again polite young men . What a difference when my brother of 75 and myself 63 went to the cafe next door. We walked in , no...hello or what to do where to go , even though there was a member of staff stood there, so we walked past and in to the larger part with the log burner in as my brother was cold. We didn’t want to sit at the small round table near a cold window, and saw an elderly man and his son on a table for six and asked if we could join them at the other end and they both said of course we could , we started having a good chat and an older waitress came rushing in and said could she help us , I said ohh I’m sorry should we have waited, the waitress then said very abruptly , yes , there is a big sign as you come in that says that , there’s a table over there. I said it’s ok it’s warmer here for my brother and we have asked the gentleman if it’s ok to share the table. Again abruptly the waitress said well it will mess the cheques up as the table are numbered. The kind gentleman then interviewed and said it’s realy ok we will sort it, as they were just having a drink and nearly finished. I found the waitress very rude and didn’t say anything as didn’t want my elderly brother feeling as I did . Even the gentleman sat with us raised theirs eyes. What a shame , as it’s a lovely place otherwise. Do not know what happened to manners or respect for elders.More
