Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Popped in today with my 2 week old Grandson for his first visit to Sandsend . We’ve been walking to this cafe for years with our dogs but this time they were left at home due to the heat. But got to sit in the...beautiful decked area accessible through the cafe with stunning views . I should say the service and food was as good as ever , even though it’s had been a very busy day for the staff . I don’t normally leave reviews especially as I don’t want it packed out when next I visit but in this case they deserve it . 😃More

We had lunch twice at the wonderful Sandside Cafe during our recent week’s holibob in Whitby. We walked there and back on the beach from Whitby and it was really lovely. Both days we had the Seafood Special which was a fresh crab, prawn and...smoked salmon salad served with a huge chunky slice of brown bread. It was fresh, high quality and absolutely delicious, the two best meals of the week. We also had homemade raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake for dessert. Wow! The cafe was busy as you’d expect but once we’d managed to get a sea view table, queued and ordered our food it arrived quite quickly and really was worth the wait. This is an easy 5 star review to give & we highly recommend The Sandside Cafe.More

We visited on a Monday afternoon after walking from Whitby. The girls serving seemed unorganised and really un interested in what they were doing. We had tea, milk shakes and the smallest Cappuccino EVER.. however the choices of cake made up for that I suppose....Ever though the cake was good, we probably wouldn't rush back here.More

Found a lump of soil in my salad. When I complained to the manager she said ‘sorry about that we have been having an issue with soil in the salads!’ People on next table also found soil in there salad but not the size of...the huge lump found in mine. Suffered food poisoning as a consequence and was repeated sick! Not the 5 hygiene rating shown on the premises. Anyone thinking of visiting this cafe should be mindful that even knowing that there was a potential hazard to health that they continued to serve contaminated food!More

Havent visited our usual favourite cafe for a while, went today but just a feeling its changed hands...cappuccino, pot of tea for one and 2 slices of cake came to £13, which I felt was a bit steep,( plus the slices of cake seemed slightly..."slimmer" than they used to be?) We might walk a bit further along next time.More

We ate breakfast and dinner here during our recent visit. This is a fantastic cafe, so cosy inside but with lots of tables outside with fantastic views. The food is really good. The queue can be long but the staff are really friendly and are...very helpful. Just love visiting her whatever the weather. Cosy inside in the winter and outside in the sun during summer.More

Definitely our 'go-to' cafe for breakfast whenever we stay in the Whitby/Sandsend area. The counter service can be a little slow at times and there's often a queue, but once your order is in the service is quite speedy and everything comes out fresh and...hot. The view is superb and dogs are welcome in the outside area, which all makes for a friendly relaxed and informal venue, which is important to me as I do suffer a little from 'claustrophobia' so this 'open' fresh-air' venue is great.More

We visited Sandsend for the first time on our mini getaway and loved every aspect of the place. We parked on the road and visited this little cafe for cake and coffee. The staff were so friendly, the choice of food and drink extensive and...the choice of cakes - well very difficult to decide!! The seating is inside, outside with a screen from the elements or proper outside with beautiful views across the beach. We loved this place and will definitely be going back when in the area againMore

What a beautiful cafe. Overlooking the sea, incredible views. Inside seating and outside seating available. Excellent coffee, great cake selection and we also tried the breakfast which was brilliant, ask for crispy bacon and sausages if that’s what you like, I asked and they just...cooked it for longer to my taste. What’s more to say, it’s an excellent cafe.More

Called in on our way out of whitby with a beach side location with great views. Parked up on the side street and ordered breakfast at the counter, I had bacon on a bread roll at £3.85 with a cappuccino at £2.95. Nice relaxing friendly...cafe stop before a long journey home.More

We went for lunch today, asked for 3 panini's, got 1 panini and 2 toasties. We pointed out their mistake and the offered to change them. The staff then suggested we asked for toasties on brown bread and suggested we were lying in front of...other customers. We had paid already do would have left. The manager came out and wanted to know why her staff were crying, she said she wanted both staff and customers to be happy. She listened, we were very polite, she went back in the cafe and we didn't see her again. If she had refunded the toasted sandwiches I wouldn't be posting this poor review. Beware, make sure the staff record your order properly, they were stressed and busy. Not sure why they were crying we were polite with our complaint.More

All depends on the weather, winter is usually long weekends only but if it is very sunny like is has been recently, they are open everyday
