Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I love being in the UK, but find driving on B or lesser roads to be a challenge. So my wife and I were very ready for a good feed after checking in at a nearby B&B. Hqwkins Arms lived up to its reputation for...good food and a friendly atmosphere. We sat at a well-used table, and enjoyed a refreshing beverage. The fish pie made with salmon, smoked haddock and prawns was absolutely delicious, and the beer-battered fish and chips were served piping hot and stayed that way. Service was quick and very friendly. I would eat here again on my next visit to the area.More

Popped in after a long day sightseeing. Staff were so friendly, helpful and chatty. We ordered gammon, egg and chips, and a halloumi burger. Did not have to wait long, food was delicious and good sized portions. Gammon was so tasty... plenty of halloumi on...the burger too. We wish this was our local!!More

Big disappointment- had been recommended - but not sure why ! Sunday Lunch : - Apart from : Superb Carrot , Ginger & Coconut Soup ( shame about cheap sliced B&B ) The potatoes cannot have been roasted ...? absolutely awful , re heated? One...sliver of Parsnip, One sliver of Carrot , Mouthful of Cauliflower Cheese , tasteless Red Cabbage ( several spoonfuls ) Lamb & Yorkshire pud & gravy were tastier . ........................... Chair had chipped / 'mended edge' which very nearly ( dexterity of Diner on leaving ) fortunately prevented damage ripping leg wear . -------------------------------------------More

Went on Mothering Sunday with friends. Very disappointed with our meal. The presentation onto plates was very poor everything looked as if it been piled on, far to much gravy savoy cabbage overcooked roast potatoes (not roast as we expected) I gather they had two...sittings when normally on a Sunday its just the one. The flowers given to all Mothers was a really nice touch. Maybe when it's a special day just stick to one sittingMore

The roast was awful, beef like an old boot, Yorkshire puddings stone cold, advertised red cabbage which when arrived was savoy. Bar staff had little knowledge of liquor’s and the older lady was very rude. Won’t be going there again

Very disappointed to say that we were disappointed, having read the reviews . Having the week before ate Sunday roast at the Alverton Hotel in Truro, a two course Sunday roast at the Hawkins was roughly the same price. However that’s where the comparison ends....The Sunday roast was woeful, under done and not crispy potatoes, no green vegetables and I can only guess what we had was a cauliflower cheese, but literally could not tell to be honest. Thankfully the Turkey was not overcooked Wife wanted a dessert but wanted cream (pouring or clotted) only to be told that its ice cream only The service also equally ordinary Nice pint of Tribute though, will be back for a beer, but not food Real Shame, but to be honest a half decent roast is not the most difficult to get rightMore

Great simple pub grub, they'd sold out of some, not surprised as it was very busy. More ham in a sandwich than I've ever had, all very nice. Staff friendly and super happy to have the dog join us. We will be back for sure.

Just had a delicious Sunday roast at Hawkins Arms, Probus. Plenty off meat and veg and huge Yorkshire pudding. Great service too. There were 9 in our group including kids. Thank you for making our family meal a real treat. Would highly recommend.
