Stopped by with some friends visiting the area for lunch. There is a great selection on the menu and it was quite difficult to choose with so many appealing options. I went for the goat curry and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked. We all enjoyed our meals. The place is really relaxing and the staff are excellent.

Over the past few years we have eaten here several times while visiting our daughter and family, who live in the village. The food is of a consistently high standard and the menu so extensive it's always difficult to make a decision about what to choose! We have eaten at other pubs in the area, and although good, none of... More

This was a modest pub location situated in the main street of Downton, but it came well recommended by a couple of our friends, who live locally, who were part of our group. We were 5 present. The atmosphere was very pleasant as was the welcome. The food was excellent, better than I anticipated, in fact. We were looked after... More

My wife and I stayed in Downton for 8 nights, the food was so good we ate at the Wooden Spoon for 5 of those nights. Excellent food, good wine, good service. Moreover, all the extensive and varied menu is made by them! The Spoon really made our stay memorable. Simply, a marvellous pub.

I recently stayed in Downton as part of a weekend trip to Winchester and the surrounding area, so the first night we decided to go to what seemed to be the only place to eat in the quiet little village. My initial thoughts, i'm going to admit, were sceptical - the pub doesn't stand out for its decor or even... More

What a lovely pub with such an extensive menu to pick from. Plenty of tables to sit at and enjoy a home cooked meal. A very nice selection of food and thankfully a vegetarian menu with several things on. Really enjoyed my meal in such a traditional pub setting. Really recommend it
