Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a fantastic find in this gorgeous location. A proper English pub with a log fire, decent beer and a traditional menu. Absolutely spot on after a hike with the family around the pavement, Gordale Scar and Janets Foss. We were a group of ten,...4 adults and 6 teenagers, and one Golden Lab! Greeted when we entered the pub by an incredibly friendly lady, children shown to the table whilst a couple of the parents set up a tab at the bar. Super selection of local ales. The menu had a good selection of traditional meals from the Sunday Roast through Steak and Ale Pie, with only one child opting for the compulsory Scampi! The food arrived in a sensible time, and was of a high standard. And as for the treacle sponge....... Highly recommended. We run the Arden House B&B in Harrogate and will definitely be adding this establishment to our highly recommended list.More

Wonderful traditional, pub with excellent food and service. So nice to find a pub which is still authentic. Refreshingly free of glossy decor, overblown menus with too many adjectives and upselling. Instead we got a warm welcome (kids, dogs, muddy boots and all), cosy victorian...decor and warm fires, board games and beer, and generous portions of classic British pub food (roasts, pies, fish, couple of veggie dishes) all beautifully cooked. A friendly place to while away an afternoon after a good walk.More

This pub is everything you want from a proper Yorkshire village pub - cosy vibes, great range of beers/drinks, friendly staff who care & can't do enough for you & amazing pub classic food (roasts, pies, crumbles). The portion sizes were great on the roast...too, for example - not just one sliver of beef like you'd get at a stingey corporate chain pub! Cannot recommend this place highly enough!More

Woah, fabulous. First class beer, food and hospitality. About six cask real ales to choose from, the ones I tried were all well kept. Proper food, home made pie absolutely fantastic and the rhubarb crumble with custard one of the best I’ve ever had. The...landlord was a lovely chap, hospitable to all and obviously very proud of his pub. Rightly so.More

Stayed 2 nights in 2 rooms, 3 adults, and a dog over New Year. Booked at quite short notice and was excellent value for money for New Years Eve and New Years Day. Very friendly, comfortable, dog friendly local pub. Rooms were clean, warm, and...functional. We were aware there were no tv's, something we would prefer to have so came prepared with our laptops in case we wanted to watch something as was just a quiet last-minute relaxing break we wanted. There was nothing on event wise for NY, which again we were aware of and was fine for us. Just ensured we were booked in for a meal both nights to make sure we didn't go hungry at this busy time. Lots of locals frequent for a meal and drink with their dogs, which shows how friendly a local it is. The menu was pub fayre, and roast dinner on the Sunday was delicious. We were made to feel most welcome during the 2 evenings and enjoyed a good few drinks! Staff lovely and accommodating. Breakfast is pre-ordered, which doesn't bother us and was lovely. Pub is situated a mile walk outside Malham, which we love so great location. Malham is a great place to walk from with lovely pubs. We also walked in the opposite direction to Malham down the river and actually briefly saw an otter which was a great highlight for us (a favourite animal of ours and never seen in the wild before) Will definitely walk that stretch of river again to try and spot a second time! All in all, a lovely relaxing break in a very dog and people friendly pub.More

We have wanted to visit Malham for some time so found this hotel on booking.com. I originally booked 2 rooms but requirements changed to 2 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs. The hotel was quick to respond and allowed me to privately book the family...room which was very clean and spacious. The only thing missing was a TV in the room for my 12 year old but it wasn't an issue as we only stayed 1 night and had done plenty walking that day so we were all tired. Staff were very helpful and friendly, food is amazing and the bar has a cosy atmosphere in a traditional setting. The main point for us is that it is dog friendly and we really appreciated we could bring them with us. They can provide towels for the dogs but we brought our own. Plenty of free parking close by and great walks. ThanksMore
