Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited on a Wed in the mid afternoon, and the cafe was surprisingly busy for a fairly small community. Pretty surroundings and friendly staff. Plenty of choice of cakes & sweet treats The chocolate cake was the best I'd tasted for a very long...time. It won't be our last visit!More

It was very busy but we didn't have to wait long. Our cakes were delayed and we received a very generous 20% discount as an apology. The drinks and cakes were excellent 👌

A really cute cafe with indoor and heated outdoor seating. The staff are very friendly, the ambiance is chilled, and the food was adequately priced and delicious. I had the hot chocolate and the goats cheese and onion chutney panini while my friend had the...cheese and red onion panini and an americano. Both paninis were good, and we even took a Biscoff traybake to go!More

Nice place but slow service. Came on a weekend ordered 3 takeaway sandwiches. Was busy in the cafe so I expected a slight wait. I asked how long the takeaway would be when ordering and was told 5-10 minutes to which we were happy with...to wait. We waited 20 minutes, I asked a waiter to check our food which they said it was coming, to which we waited another 5 minutes! Roughly 25 minutes to wait, a long time to wait for 3 sandwiches, the sandwiches were nice but no salad and very basic for the price. I understand busy on weekends but maybe don’t offer takeaways if too busy!More

The tables are to many for the chefs. We waited 40 minutes for breakfast to arrive. Please do something to rectify this because to apologize is not helping specially on a sunday morning.

Lovely place to have lunch with a fantastic cake range. Food was delicious and good value. Sadly it took nearly 35 minutes before our drinks and food arrived - and that was after chasing for service. We were there at 230 so lunchtime rush was...receding and my wife had just swum in the nearby quarry - cold and in need of a hot drink. We politely informed the staff when we went to pay and the respons was 'Oh. Right' no apology, no sorry we were very busy.More

Quick stop in for lunch. What a beautiful quirky café. The selection of cakes were amazing. We had coffee and walnut and chocolate - delicious and very generous slices at a good price. Nice coffee. Free parking on site was very busy, so I would...recommend to arrive early to allow time to find a space.More

A wonderful find. It was our first visit and certainly won't be our last. There was a delay with our food order as unfortunately the chef had an accident. Nevertheless, the service was exemplary and we were very well looked after. I can think of...one or two top restaurants, that could learn a thing or two about customer service from the team at the birdcage.More

Were staying nearby and had read good reviews of this place. It didn’t disappoint and was well worth a visit. Lovely, reasonably priced tasty food. Had the chicken & bacon salad, very nice and big portions. Nice surroundings and decor. Friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

We came for afternoon tea and I have to say this is, by far, the best afternoon tea you can get. Soooo much food that we had to take home the rest. Beautifully presented and all tasted amazing. My only small negative is that we...were seated upstairs and got a little forgotten about to the point I had to walk downstairs twice to get assistance but thats the only thing that couldve been better. We've also eaten breakfast and stopp3d for cake here before and that was also very very good. The cakes are to die for. Lunches looked amazing also. Will be back!More

It is around the £17.95 each and you need to pay a £10 deposit when booking. I've also had the Xmas afternoon tea which was £24.95 per person but it was absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend
