Poor staff attitude sat outside waiting for a menu or someone to serve us a drink for 45min, left in the end, text the pub on the number on the tables and the reply was 'come and get one' we had to dogs with us...so did not want to leave the table having been told we could sit in the pub then when there we were told we have to leave the area we were in by another member of staff once we had the dogs settled there. I never leave a bad review but this service was so poor....you would think after lockdown they would be trying so hard, all the non-covered tables were covered in ants look like the staff spent more time chatting than working.More

I’m all for supporting local businesses, they’ve been through a tough time and we’ve been out regularly for takeaways and now to pubs and restaurants as they’ve opened as the pandemic hasn’t hit us financially because we’re retired. We came here for lunch but the...pies we received, while ok, didn’t anywhere near merit their price (around £14) and came with a small dollop of mash and a few peas. The cutlery arrived a while after the food which was by then far from hot on a chilly May afternoon. I also agree with other reviews which state that the manager has a dreadful attitude, no interpersonal skills and just doesn’t seem bothered. I also got the “do you want it or not.?” treatment when delivered the wrong meal and also silence when requesting information. The friend I went with warned me that he’s known for his brusque behaviour but I was still shocked. We certainly won’t be back, there’s so many better options locally.More

Visited The Horns at Datchworth with my daughter who is a coeliac tonight was told there was a smoked salmon salad on the menus which was fine . Salad arrived baby gem lettuce and green beans and slices of smoked salmon no dressing as their...dressing was not gluten free fair enough but not alternative offered! The salad as it stood was almost inedible. Spoke with young staff who called the Manager his manner was rude and disinterested said if you don’t like it we will take it away. My daughter asked were there any new potatoes available which they were so was asked if she would like hot or cold she said cold would be fine, sometime later the Manager came and banged down a bowl of potatoes in front of her without a word! So rude No personal skills from staff or the Manger. Very disappointing will certainly not be returning even with government get out to eat !More

We met as 3 families and the restaurant was buzzing when we arrived. Clearly a well loved place as they were busy. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and when an extra family arrived during our meal they moved tables to for us all...in. The food was delicious. There was a lovely atmosphere. We will definitely go back and have since recommend it to friend.More

A significant level above the normal pub restaurant fare. Lunches or evening dining, the menu has regular old favourites and superb, interesting 'specials'. Small car park however means come early or park on the (narrow) country road. Better still, come by taxi and enjoy the...great range of drinks. 😉More

After a recent walk across muddy Hertfordshire fields with two dogs, we arrived at The Horns wondering if we would be allowed in. However we were welcomed with open arms, seated by a roaring log fire and then tucked into an excellent lunch. The staff...were most helpful and friendly - we certainly will go back and do the same again, hopefully when the weather has improved somewhat!More

Staff all friendly and welcoming. Lovely village pub. We had pre ordered. We had soup, pate and whitebait to start, all good. I had the roast beef from the Christmas menu, others had the turkey and one person the salmon. All lovely except, I’m afraid...to say the roast potatoes which weren’t very nice at all, in fact they were the only thing left our our plates. Sorry. For desserts we had the Christmas pud which was delicious, chocolate cheesecake, lovely, and the cheeseboard , soooo much cheese and rather a lot of biscuits.More

We booked up on the day and got a table for 4 people at 4pm which was perfect for us. Were made to feel very welcome and were attended to almost immediately. Had some lovely drinks and the meal was served quickly- probably 10-15 after...ordering. Food was excellent and the request for extra roast potatoes was carried out quickly - we had a couple of larger appetites so needed some - and they were delicious 😀 and we did need them. All in all a place and a meal we would definitely want to come and eat again. Very happy..More

Not that I've noticed, however there is lots of space around the pub entrance and car park so would believe so. Best to call and ask as the staff very helpful. Lots of dogs seen there and all well controlled. Hope that helps
