This was our first visit to the Tilbury and we were all greatly impressed by the food which was slightly different from the norm but was delicious so a new experience which we love. Service was excellent and we must make special mention of Molly...who was exceptionally knowledgable about the food and cheerful throughout. We will certainly be back!More

The best Sunday lunch. Roast beef is superb, served pink and really tender . Roast potatoes are fab and so is the cauliflower cheese. Totally recommend 5 stars

We visit at least once a month, when the menu changes. Lovely, imaginative well executed food, and great service from a friendly hospitable team. Excellent every time.

Tip : The Tilbury has a good sized car park so no issues if you need to drive plus book We went to the Tilbury for Sunday lunch which has a specific menu which includes roasts but has other options as well as great snacks...such as pardon peppers and confit chicken nuggets, With asparagus in season we opted for the asparagus and potato soup alongside asparagus with ham, egg and caper dressing. Both were packed full of flavour. We opted for the pork loin roast which came with a good selection of vegetables, superb roast potatoes, a huge yorkshire pudding and one of the best cauliflower cheese dishes I have ever tasted. Portion size was large and the pork was lovely and tender. Service was great - warm greeting when we arrived and always attentive. As a pub it has a good selection of ales, wines and spirits with options to suit any budget. Overall a fantastic lunch and wholeheartedly recommend - definitely worth a drive / special trip. We love this place for a Sunday roast. The best part is you get cauliflower cheese with your meal rather than a side dish. you must pre book though to save disappointment. we have the chicken nuggets (they are a posh version) and the bread...and oils. then roast beef all round. the meat is tender and plentiful. its our fav place for a Sunday roast. highly recommendMore

Gave The Tilbury a try after researching a decent venue for a milestone birthday. The food, service and ambience were all spot on to make a memorable evening. Well set-out tables so, although the place was buzzing, we didn't feel crowded. The menu was nicely...varied and the cooking first class, we were treated as valued customers and the service was prompt without feeling rushed. We won't wait until unother birthday to return. Lovely, creative, Food. Lots of different choices and flavours. The Asian pot noodles in dish I had weren’t great but the steaks were amazing. I would say mains were great, desserts were ok. Not great value for money. The steak sauce which was pushed on...those having steak was expensive- our guests both said they didn’t know it was an extra cost (yes we now know it’s on the menu). The staff we good and helpful. Took 15 mins to clear table at the end but otherwise it was good. The bar and pub were nice. Local beers. There was a very loud group in the middle table, making it hard to hear (and I’m not old!). Pricing - mains were ok and decent value. I do think pub/restaurants are getting in the habit of adding 10-15% to our food bills to pay for their staff. I would have given a nice tip but I won’t go back as when you add (can’t remember if it was 10 or 12.5%) to the drinks and food it’s a lot. That made it an expensive night, instead of a good and decent value. I rated a 4, not a 3, as the mains were overall good, staff pleasant and nice decor. We had a group of 12 friends. We were looked after royally in a separate section of the pub, and it felt like private dining. Service was excellent, efficient and friendly. Food was good but not outstanding and certainly quite expensive, but we knew this...in advance, so definitely not a problem. I have not been here for several years, but will revisit again soon.More

We hadn’t visited for ages. But oh so good. Fabulous staff. Adam was amazing, knowledgeable and engaging. The food was simply superb. Cannot recommend enough and will be there again soon.

What a lovely hidden gem. The food was superb, backed up a really good service by wonderful friendly staff. Excellent choice of quality wines.
