We visited today to find much needed new owners in place, we received a warm welcome & tasty food,
We had delicious a panini, served beautifully with a salad garnish, homemade coleslaw & crisps.
We are looking forward to our next visit.
Keep up the good work ladies 😊

We called in today mid-way through a slightly soggy walk. We each chose the really tasty red potato and butternut squash soup with a cheesy roll. The soup was probably the best of its type that we have ever tasted and the warm cheesy roll complemented it perfectly. That was followed by an excellent coffee and a warm brownie. The latter was made by the owner’s daughter, a trainee pastry chef - she’s got real talent!.
All this at a reasonable price with very friendly service!
Next time we're in the area we will be back!

We stayed with friends at the pub across the road as we were all going to a wedding nearby. The pub doesn’t provide breakfast, so 8 of us descended on The Cosy Tea Room at on a Friday morning, unexpected and we were looked after brilliantly!
Bacon sandwiches, scrambled eggs on toast and beans on toast with plenty of tea and coffee were quickly offered and hugely appreciated.
The lovely lady running the shop asked if we wanted to come back on Saturday, to which we immediately said YES! and specially arranged to have a full English breakfast ready for us all on Saturday, including hash browns; a special request.
Thank you for looking after us! Highly recommended.

We chose The Cosy Tea Rooms to hold the wake after a friend's funeral at the nearby St Mary's church. Sharon was extremely helpful from the start, guiding us as to what menu would be suitable and made the whole process stress free. Everything was really delicious on the day, so fresh ( especially the cakes!!) and we all had a lovely time chatting together about our late friend while tucking in. We recommend The Cosy Tea Room on any occasion and thank them for a super wake.

The Cosy Tea Room is a lovely little place with amazing freshly cooked quiche and cheese scones. Obviously there is more to eat but everything is fresh and tastes amazing. The coffee is lovely and my wife really enjoys the tea. We actually go there 2 sometimes 3 times a week. Extremely friendly and welcoming.

We have been here several times as we are local and pass through the area frequently. It’s a lovely, pleasant place to sit, relax and refresh.
Overall it is good. Friendly staff in a quiet, clean and cosy cafe. The teas and coffees are good. However, their website advertises they use produce from local farms. They do not. It is from Tesco.
As local award-winning food producers ourselves, this was a big let-down. It’s not hard to buy local goods, support the local economy and get excellent ingredients for good value. I say that from our own experience and knowledge. An easy, obvious win here has been overlooked and missed.
The Cosy Tea Rooms don’t allow dogs which - for a place in the heart of countryside walks - is disappointing and means we visit less often than we otherwise would.
For a comfy stop-off, The Cosy Tea Rooms are nice and I’d happily recommend for a tea break, snack and rest point on a long walk or cycle ride. But if you want to experience quality local produce and a true taste of Kent, you’ll need to go elsewhere.
(The opening times advertised on here need correcting. They open at 10am not 09:30.)

Dear PwH3426,
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback especially the part around our friendly staff in a quiet, clean and cosy cafe. The teas and coffees are good.
On the menu, we state our free range eggs are from a local farm. We have omitted to include the name of the farm (which is Woodlands Poultry Farm) and caused confusion. We have also tried using local bakers for breads and rolls but these did not sell well to our customers. We have where possible in the past tried to support local producers as we would also like to support our local community.
No dogs policy - we are sorry that you are not able to bring you dog into Cosy Tea Rooms but this has been a longstanding policy (for at least 4 years). This is designed for the comfort of our customers. We provide a water bowl for dogs outside outside the tea room. You can ask staff for it if you don't see one.
We hope to welcome you back to try our free range eggs from the local farm and also to try the delicious cakes and scones that are freshly baked on the premises.

Dear bevanterrace,
Thank you for your feedback.
We are really sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your visit to Cosy Tea Rooms. It did in fact change hands last summer so some time ago really and we have kept the same staff during this period and they are certainly not clueless. Prices have not changed since the previous management team were in place. If you are unhappy it is best to raise this with our very polite, efficient and very patient staff at the time so that we can fix it for you. If you raise it on Trip Advisor afterwards we cannot assist you as it is too late. Just to reassure you, we will be carrying out rigorous training on how to make toast for all of our staff and you are welcome to join us. Spot checks will be carried out on a regular basis to ensure that we reach the expected toasting levels required by our customers.

This used to be my go to place when taking my mum to lunch, it lived up to its name being very cosy, quaint, welcoming with lovely home made food. It has recently changed ownership, what a shame. The new owners have obviously decided to put their own stamp on it. It is no longer cosy, all bright yellows and turquoise. Gone are the flowery tablecloths to be replaced by stark white waxed cloths emblazoned with the cafe name. No more pretty paintings on the walls, or tempting little nic nacs to buy,
The food also has changed. The salads, quiches and pies are no longer made on site, the display cabinet showed an array of dried up unappetising looking pies/sausage rolls, no tempting salads at all. We opted for jacket potato, my Mums favourite. The potato was ok, but the accompanying salad was much smaller than previously, three slices of cucumber, three slices of tomato, scant dessert spoon of coleslaw, a few leaves, and the smallest amount of butter imaginable. Previously the accompaniment would have been three tasty side salads (homemade) cherry tomatoes, cucumber and green salad, and a decent amount of butter. They seem to be focusing more on branded teas and coffees, possibly some sort of promotion deal.
All in all a very disappointing visit, which didn’t warrant the 30 minute drive each way. Probably time to find a new venue.

Dear Meme1949,
Thank you so much for your feedback. We are really sorry that you did not like the changes that we have made to The Cosy Tea Rooms of Elham since we took over in August. Almost all of our customers have commented that the changes have really brightened the place up and have given it a much fresher look. In fact many of our customers complained about the previous décor and said it was long overdue. Some of the items that you mention in your feedback may have been of sentimental value to you but were sadly in great need of some loving care and attention.
The food has indeed changed and we are now able to offer a far great variety and selection than previously. We have home-made cakes, home-made scones, home-made soups alongside our great range of all-day breakfasts, kids breakfasts, vegan options, gluten free options and so forth. We have been complimented on our new range of food especially the new quiches which are quote to quote some of our customers “much better than the old ones…”.
Not sure about your comment on salads no longer being made on the premises? Does not seem very likely – we make all of these on the spot. As for portion size on the salads, this is exactly as before but because we are using a larger (and new) serving plate to set out our lovely food this may have confused you. We will keep an eye out to make sure that our experienced and friendly staff are being generous in their portion sizes. Most customers say we give them too much!
We also recognise that these days are customers are more discerning with regards to the beverages that they require. This is why we undertook extensive market research before we started trading to make sure that we supply high end quality coffee and teas for the people that we are serving. I don’t think in our business that we would be able just to focus on the drinks alone; you need a good combination with your food offering. We are so keen for our customers to understand more about quality coffee, where it comes from, and how it is made that we invited everyone along to our Coffee Talk which gave our invitees a great insight. A very popular event and we would love to invite you to attend our next event and to give you a front row seat.
Finally, we agree with the heading of your review: “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” – in this case, it was broke, we fixed it, and our customers (or most of them) are very happy!

Very disappointing. We chose this place for breakfast as opposed to the hotel next door expecting a home cooked breakfast. We did wonder if they were prepared as it was 9.00 ish? The tea had an odd smell
We live in Kent and the water can have a chemical smell. It needs to be filtered. The poached egg in toast was bread not toast so soggy, the egg wasn’t great with a small yolk and the poaching watery, bacon was hard and chewy. The staff were lovely and friendly. Such a shame.

Dear valerieLoughton,
We are really sorry that you had a poor experience and that the breakfast that was served to you was not up to our normal standard. We try to ensure that our customers get fresh quality ingredients i.e fresh free range eggs from the local farm and that these are cooked to perfection. We would welcome the opportunity to see you again and provide you with a complimentary breakfast at a higher level than the one you had originally.
On the subject of the water in Elham, this issue has been addressed during the last week so please sample some more tea, again on us.
Hope to see you again!
