We received an afternoon tea voucher for Christmas 2020 and used this for my birthday July 2021. We arrived and were seated by a polite gentleman who took our order for drinks. A lady came to take our order for the afternoon tea and check...any allergies or requirements. I explained my requirements that I am vegetarian but unable to eat egg. She sighed then wrote down the details and took then order to the kitchen without saying anything. The man who had seated us must of gone for his break as we didn’t see him again for the rest of our stay. There were many waitresses but nobody came to take our drinks order. My partner wanted to order a bottle of champagne for my birthday but whenever he made eye contact with some one to order a bottle they put their heads down and went to deal with another table. We sat back and watched how all other tables were being waited on and checked on but we were being ignored and I feel this was because we had a voucher so they assumed we weren’t going to spend any money. If they had come to take our order they’d of been proven wrong and maybe we would of been looked after properly. It came across very snobby. When the food arrived it was mediocre and not very tasty. Once we had finished eating we moved the afternoon tea cake holders to the side so we could see and speak to each other without those sat right infront. Nobody came to clear our table despite our table being full of dinner ware, again other tables were being cleared and it was only ours that wasn’t being waited on. It really made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I’ve been coming to the quay hotel for years and I have never left feeling like I wouldn’t return but this has really put me off. We had considered this hotel for our wedding but this made us reconsider.More

Food is beautiful served, and all local produce, small but very good menu, they have specials on every night, which is very good, as if you are staying for a week, you can have different meals every evening.

While staying at the quay hotel over Christmas for a 3 day package we ate most meals in the restaurant. On Christmas eve & Christmas day evening there was a large buffet with various hot & cold options that you could help your self to...as much or as little as you wanted. All was very well presented, all freshly made & tasted good. The breakfast was help your self to the continental selection that was on offer along with the toast, then you order your hot food & drinks with the waiting staff. This seemed to be freshly cooked using good quality ingredients & was good & is so much better than a buffet style hot breakfast. Christmas day lunch we had to pre-order our main course beforehand, we were greated with a glass of champagne on arrival & our starter orders were taken, as some of our party didn't like the starters on offer the head chef prepared alternative starters for us. There was then a gin & tonic sorbet to cleanse the pallet prior to the main. The main courses turkey or fillet of beef that we had were again well presented & side dishes of vegatbles were brought to the table there was a lack of roast potatoes however more were brought to us. The helping was ample. This was followed by a selection of desserts again which were well presented freshly made & tasted good. This was then finished off we coffee & mince pies in the lounge bar, the pastry was on the thick side. The boxing day meal was also very good with a selection of meals for each course which were all presented well & tasted good & the portion size slightly reflected the amount we had eaten over the previous days which was fine as we were still full. The waiting staff were all well presented & couldn't do enough to help during our stay even though they had given up there Christmas with their families to look after the residents. The food was all of a top quality as expected of a 4 star hotel, if you have a special occasion & are in the area I would recommend eating here.More

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food we were served for dinner. Again our tour bus group was given a set menu with a few choices for each course. We loved the Pea Soup, the salmon entrée was a bit better than...the chicken, but the Sticky Pudding and Ice Cream were truly excellent.More

Turned up at 7.15pm on a Wednesday evening looking forward to a drink and some dinner outside on the deck. The food looks very good. At 7.45 we were still waiting for someone to bother to ask us if we'd like a drink or offer...us a menu. Despite numerous staff walking past they don't appear to think serving paying customers is what they're employed to do. It wasn't particular busy. An experience of utterly hopeless service - the location is super but someone needs to get a grip of the staff as it looks as if nobody is running the show. Left at 7.55, having not been served. Avoid - poorly managed staff with no-one displaying any interest in service deserves to be called out.More

After a lovely day at the spa we proceeded to the grill for our lunch. Lovely setting with beautiful views. However, we couldn't believe how rude the restaurant manager was. He made us feel a nuisance. Totally patronising. Extremely embarrassing. We were actually left gobsmacked...and giggling as we couldn't believe our ears! It is a shame, but he has totally put us off visiting the quays again.More

We enjoyed lunch here whilst staying at the hotel. Fabulous food. Service was a little on the slow side but it was very busy for the number of staff in attendance. The views more than made up for the service. We will be visiting again...really soon.More

If you’re staying in the Quay hotel or in and around Conwy I can recommend this restaurant as a place to go. The restaurants location is superb as it looks out over the estuary. The meal we had was very good with friendly staff. You...can either eat in the main restaurant or in the bar area. The prices are what you’d expect to pay in a hotel like this. All in all would definitely go back if I was in the area.More

Struggled with a title for this review as the Grill Room lives up to its 4* hotel setting and price point - but only just. The main ground floor restaurant was being refurbished, so will make allowances for the slightly compromised temporary arrangements in the...upstairs bar. We had dinner twice during our stay. The menu is limited but reasonably varied and they also had several different specials available each night. Food well cooked and nicely presented - we particularly liked the fish dishes. Service friendly although maybe just a bit too relaxed and there was little or no attention at the table (eg topping up wine glasses or checking how we were doing) during our meal on either evening. Overall met our needs well on evenings when we didn't want to go out but could be even better with a little effort in one or two areas.More

Steak was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The peppercorn sauce was really good too especially with the chips. Dessert of sticky toffee pudding was delicious however i was not keen on the salted caramel ice cream and would have preferred vanilla. Presentation was really thought...out and the staff were very attentive..More

My sister and I took our dad out to meet his sister and her daughter at the Deganwy quays last Monday, and this will probably be our last time. Booked a table for 12:30.No one offered us the menus, drink nothing, until I had to approach them in...the end.The food was eventually ordered around 1:10pm and all us ordered the monkfish. When it came it was like a starter portion-and at £16 we were very dissappointed to see the portion size was so small. It was a good thing I had ordered a portion of chips as well. As we were still hungry we decided to have a dessert, and waited for service again. Both my father and I ordered the Eton mess, which was more like strawberry&cream and hardly any meringue. Also the cream was warm. We feft nobody was bothered about anything there anymore. The staff are uninterested in their work, and the chef in his food! I never write a review, but we were all soooo disappointed with our day out,and sadly will not be returning again and will not be recommending. Such a shame as we like to meet here as his sisterl lives in Llanfairfechan.More
