Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited on the 27th May for a carvery and bearing in mind it was £28 for 2 main carveries very disappointing to say the least The quality of the food was very low standard and the gravy was tasteless and very runny . We had...looked forward to visiting all day and was met with overpriced low grade food in these current times I would expect the Wherry to up their game will think twice before visiting againMore

Thank you for letting us know about your recent visit to The Wherry Hotel.

3 out of 4 meals came to our table cold, all were sent back and appeared to be reheated including the coleslaw on my burger dish. Appreciate the place was busy as it was bank holiday but shouldn't mean food standards drop. Disappointed as we...are frequent customers of the Wherry hotel. Toilets in the main restaurant were disgusting too. Sanitary bins over flowing, toilets not flushing. Staff were made aware nothing was actually done about it. Leaves you wondering what the kitchen looks like.More

We took our grandchildren (aged 12 and 14) for their usual half term treat to the Wherry Carvery We had 2 carvery with dessert one veggie carvery with dessert and a chicken tikka. The food was good, as it generally is, apart from a couple...of the vegetable dishes being empty. Our only problem was with the dessert. Our grandson always has strawberries on their own as he doesn't like cream or ice cream. I asked if we could have his usual dessert and was told that strawberries, despite it being the start pf the British strawberry season, were not available, unbelievable ! Consequently one of us had the additional dessert and he went without. Difficult to believe that a place the size of the Wherry couldn't find a bowl of strawberries.More

We have often popped into the Wherry for a morning coffee however having visited today can honestly say this will be the last time! I have never had the misfortune to be served by such a ' miserable member of staff and tbh, someone who...clearly needs some Customer Services training!!!! There are plenty of coffee establishments close by and I will certainly be taking my custom elsewhere from now on.More

Visited the Wherry Carvery yesterday with family, the restaurant was not too busy, we were rather disappointed with the quantity of meat provided, the Wherry used to be the better carvery in the area, I think it was rater disappointing and not good value for...the money like it used to be. I noticed whilst eating my meal that quite a few customers asked for more meat from the carver!More

Came here for a Sunday roast as usually very good, but was very disappointed today, why on earth are they dishing out aunt Bessie's roast potatoes?? Its a restaurant and everything is meant to be home made especially the Sunday roast. Also the veg was...luke warm even under the hot lights. Will think twice about coming here again. The plus side though is we can take our well-behaved spaniel with us.More

Spur of the moment lunchtime visit. Lovely warm welcome from "josh" who always goes that extra mile. As polite and professional as ever. We both chose the carvery. Yet another, professional team member "Hayden" who served the carvery meats, extremely polite, but worked methodology, and...professionally. The chosen meats delicious, pork melted in the mouth, Lovley depth of flavour in the beef and the gammon equally enjoyable I was told. Usual high standard of vegetables and accompanments. Huge well done to "Hayden and "Josh" The meal was very enjoyable, but the stand out visit was the professional attitude of these two young members of staff. Great team players. Well done. Thankyou to the back of house staff, who work so hard behind the scenes.More

The property is in an ideal location and is rather an impressive building. The carvery was average with several of the vegatables burnt. My main issue was the exceptionally expensive poor quality beer. These prices were not reflected in other local establishments.
