The pub is run very efficiently by two ladies. The service is second to none. The menu is always varied and really excellent. I can find no fault with this establishment.

Wonderful English Inn with delightfully decorated bar and dining areas. The three-course prix fix lunch was scrumptious and reasonably priced. Very friendly service.

We use this pub frequently and often dine there as well. Even if you haven't booked, they will always try to accommodate you and find a table. There is a good selection of food and wine and prices are competitive. What makes this a great place to go is the attentive and friendly staff. Food is great, especially the Sunday... More

The Red Lion of Long Compton is a lovely pub. The food is what you'd expect from an English countryside restaurant. They have a few vegetarian options (vegans may find it hard or impossible to eat there) and our vegetable filo pastry with mushed potatoes was very tasty. It did feel a bit heavy though, the oily dough was surrounded... More

Primarily an eatery this is a very pleasant pub serving a good selection of gastro pub staples with well presented and well cooked food. The interior is welcoming and the service was friendly and attentive. The local brew is not half bad either so you can't really go wrong given it's very reasonably priced. If I was a local resident... More

We booked this pub as we had previously been before and loved the food and the hospitality. However this time the welcome wasn't as good. We waited at the bar for a few minutes before being shown to our table and then after choosing our meals from the menu we sat and waited ... and waited .... and waited for... More

Thank you taking the time to review your recent visit. I was really disappointed to read that you were not made to feel welcome. We have discussed your comments at length and all realise that we missed a huge opportunity to make you feel not only welcome, but also like you wanted to stay and order those puddings. I know... I ate at the Red Lion with family on two occasions during a Spring visit to the Cotswolds. The food was exceptionally good - I especially recommend the fish. The local Hook Norton beer went well with the food and the service was simply delightful. I wish I could award 10 stars to this wonderful place!

We visited the Red Lion with friends for a birthday lunch and selected across the specials board and menu. All of our dishes were excellent, accompanied by a good wine list and well kept beer. The service was charming and there is a warm, comfortable ambience. Altogether a first class lunch experience. A word of caution for disabled visitors, as... More

Thank you for posting such a lovely review of your recent celebration lunch. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the ambience, food and service and found it all to be first class. With this being such an old building it is a little challenging with a wheelchair. The bays marked as disabled in the main car park allow access to... More

we regularly use the Red Lion, Long Compton for lunches or suppers and have never been disappointed. Imaginatively decorated, this period Cotswold village pub offers an extensive menu, good ales and wines, provides a warm welcome and efficient service. It welcomes dogs and even provides pigs ears for them! We're told the rooms and breakfast are good too, but as... More

Rented a cottage in the village for 2 nights and ate at the Red Lion on both nights. All the dishes we had were very good - especially the lamb kebab and the steak pie. Every single member of staff was friendly and helpful and they really make a difference.
