Dropped in to this place for lunch for four of us. Great little cafe, unassuming, but with fabulous south american food, delicious drinks, friendly and relaxed. Loved the chorizo arapa and the guava juice.

Went with my sister to taste colombian food and it was actually great. We loved the decoration and the atmosphere of the place, very authentic. They have a good range of colombian products. However, they did not have some of them and the service was lifeless, a bit boring I would say. Overall It is a nice place to go... More

I went to this cafe last week, and I went again this weekend. The cafe itself is warm and welcoming and the staff are very friendly. You absolutely must try the Chai Latte - I reckon it is one of the best in town! If you are going in for breakfast, they have a wide range of Arepa, so do... More

My new fave, this great little Colombian place has fantastic vibe and is so chill. Portions are small but tasty. If you're hungry, just order more :). Great hot choc and coffee too. Will be back to have more arepa...YUM!!

I've been there a couple of times already. Great coffee, awesome arepas and I'm love with their alfajores! Staff is very friendly and relaxed. Love the latin music in the background too. Whenever I'm the area I can't walk past this little place without stopping for a coffee and a snack!

I've been wanting to try traditional Colombian hot chocolate with cheese for ages so when I found out I could get it at Sonido of course I had to go! This little cafe had a great vibe with friendly staff, inviting smells and infectious cumbia music playing in the background. I decided to get a little out of my comfort... More

Stopped in for breakfast today. Not being an Aussie, I felt I had to try the Vegemite choice on the menu; an Arepa with vegemite, guacamole, and tomatoes. A long black for a wake-me-up, and I was good to go. I sat where I could watch the coffee barista do her thing; which was a constant barrage of coffee drinks... More

We popped in here for a late lunch/snack and had some delicious cheese arepas and empanadas. I loved the Latin American decor and the relaxed atmosphere.

Enjoyed my flat white (wish it was larger) and huevos arepa. Really tasty and kept me full late into the afternoon. Unique and worth trying.

since it has been a while since we have been to sonido, we decided to chance it on a rainy day and it was a good decision as we easily got a table again. we had the ropa vieja arepa or old clothes beef cooked in secret cuban recipe which was a generous dollop of moist and tender shredded beef... Staying in Fitzroy

Neighbourhood Profile
Fitzroy is an unusual blend of working class roots, hip gentrification, and a robust bohemian work ethic. Along Brunswick Street and its side streets, you'll find little independent shops where local clothes and furniture designers display their wares. There are specialist bookshops, funky record bars, and quality vintage clothing shops where browsing is the next best thing to buying. Gertrude Street is famous for its cuisine and art galleries, but if you want to buy an old-fashioned snooker table, there is a shop for that too. Small pubs still exist, tucked away on the corners of suburban side streets that serve up traditional Sunday roasts. Live music abounds, and the street performers play so hard you worry to tip them would ruin their concentration. Venture to the Spanish quarter on Johnston Street and you may even find street dancing. It is all happening amidst off-beat street murals and the shuffle of a very funky neighbourhood that embraces both old and new.
