Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Food and service justified the 3 star status of this restaurant. Reputation of the chef goes before him, fully justified on this performance and to be fair at the end of the evening he came to each table and spent time with his guests. Multiple...tasting starters. All the food was mouthwatering and an excellent choice of wines. Most enjoyable, great ambiance and atmosphere. Highly recommendedMore

One of the top five meals of my life!! I have been to a few three star Michelin restaurants and many well regarded and high end places--this was utterly fantastic. From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure, we experienced convivial and expert...service and felt instantly comfortable and at home in what can be an intimidating environment. The cuisine is varied and "cheffy" without either being fussy or over the top. Among many culinary highlights, the appetizer foie gras/eel/apple and the deconstructed "Gilda" stood out early and the "Mushroom" and "Ham" was a fabulous dish. The bite of my bride's red mullet (part of her tasting menu) was the single best bite of fish in my life. I could go on and on but the short summer is that if you have the ability to go here, do not miss!!More

The attentive staff ensures that you are treated not as a mere diner, but as a guest of honor. The attention to detail in service is...impeccable, adding to the overall dining pleasure. A truly remarkable dining experience!More

The restaurant is very nice, very good service and good wine list. We took the dégustation menu and although the quality of ingredients are excellent, we where very disappointed to have plates with not so nice presentation and not great taste. Two plates following each...other had gelly textures. One plate was a simple salad with one shrimp and gelly below. He use lot of mousse with no taste to decorate insipid plate. Merely a one star Michelin.More

My wife and I went for a birthday celebration. The experience, service and quality of Berasategui is indeed extraordinary. I specially liked the “trucha salvaje”, although everything was equally outstanding. Martin came out to greet everyone which was an added surprise. If I were to...suggest something, I’d compress the menu a little bit and take out one or maybe two and add a storyline, I personally would like to know more about the creative process and how Martin evolved his cousine. Thanks for a wonderful experienceMore

Great experience. Went with my wife on a trip to San Sebastian. The journey is about 15 minutes from the centre, c.30 EUR in a taxi. On arrival we were instantly made welcome by the staff, who were as good as I have ever experienced....We speak a little Spanish but they happily conversed in English. I really liked that we were able to split the tasting menu and a la carte. This is rare and I wish more places did it. I enjoy tasting menus, my wife prefers a la carte and we had the wine tastings with both. The food was excellent, as expected, and the liquid gilda pinxto was a real example of how good inventive food can be whilst paying homage to the region. The wine tasting was also excellent. Starting with a port is a first, but an excellent pairing. Overall, a wonderful experience in a lovely setting. The staff definitely made you feel very welcome and the food very satiated! I would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a special meal. The only caveat being that it is not cheap, so go prepared, but you do get what you pay for and as a rare treat it is well worth it.More

Meets all expectations. On par with good 3 Michelin starred restaurant in Paris, NY or London. Staff was very kind, knowledgeable, well trained and not invasive, and aiming to please. Setting was gorgeous. In hindsight, if I have to nitpick, the only thing I would...have changed - maybe - would be to propose more signature dishes from previous seasons and less new creations in the menu degustation. Special mention for the salad and the lamb. Oh and the chef came to our table to say hi. Always nice though not necessary. I have to say it has become quite exceptional at other 3 stars, it feels chef are spending less time in the kitchen and more in social media or managing their culinary empire (with sometimes, but not always, very bad results in the dishes). We will definitely and gladly come back.More

I visited with my wife for dinner. We had the tasting menu which did not disappoint. Our particular highlights included the olive with a suprise inside, the liquid version of a gilda pintxos, the fish tartar, fake truffle, and the lamb. The one course we...thought we might not enjoy from reading the menu was the oyster, as we don't usually like them, but this was prepared like no other oyster I've ever had and was delicious. We went for a single wine pairing to share, as we had read other reviews saying it was a lot of wine. They were right - 11 glasses! Ours was still served individually just half portions, and we still both left pleasantly tipsy. We noticed a few people on other tables with the full wine flight had left quite a lot in the glass. The wine was very well matched with the food. The chef himself came around during the night to great each of the tables individually. As it was my birthday I got an extra dessert and also a signed copy of Martin's cookbook which was a nice touch. We left very full and very happy. We had to ask for our final chocolates to be boxed up as we couldn't eat any more. Don't hesitate to book if you are visiting the area.More

Amazing experience from start to finish! Went last Sunday afternoon for lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We took the tasting menu (and a vegetarian tasting menu for me which I’d let them know about in advance). Every single course, including the vegetarian courses, were...outstanding. The wine selection and the knowledge of the sommeliers was excellent, and the restaurant does not apply aggressive mark ups like in London or New York. Martín Berasategui came out and greeted us at our tables and was a true gentleman. He also gifted my wife a signed apron and cooking book for her birthday which was a really nice touch. Cannot recommend this experience enough - you will not regret it. Truly deserving of its three Michelin stars.More
