Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The restaurant was closed despite its website saying it was open. As a foreigner, one relies on what company websites say. Other restaurants were filled or we were told we were too late.

We found this auberge by chance and are very pleased we did so. The food was excellent and the family who own it were such lovely people and made us feel so welcome. Great service and great food. What a great find! We will definitely...be back.More

I’ve been meaning to write a well deserved review for this wonderful local restaurant for months now! This family run Auberge is in the pretty town of Saint Benoit du Sault, and it’s really worth a visit. Recently under new ownership, the menus are straightforward,...unfussy, but absolutely delicious! Some of the produce are actually grown in the adjoining kitchen garden. In the summer months, you can sit outside, overlooking the garden....delightful! Good, seasonal menus, and great friendly service ! Highly recommended.More

This is a great little restaurant. We ate their plat de jour for lunch which consisted of 4 courses for 13.50 euros. It is great value, and was a very tasty home cooked French meal. We ate outside in their pretty courtyard, over looking their...kitchen garden. The service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend, and we will return. Our waitress mentioned that one should book for a table at dinner time.More

This small Auberg is just on the outskirts of a pretty village called St. Benoit. It a highly recommended place to visit and if you book into the Champ de Foire, you should not be disappointed. We took the 24Eu evening menu. The restaurant has...recently changed hands and the new team are doing a great job. In an area where good restaurants that can serve the whole family good food with good service are a bit thin on the ground ... I suggest this place!More

can't knock it - 4 courses for €13.50. Very french cuisine with other options if you dont fancy the offerings. Very busy and popular with all the local workforce (always a good sign of quality) We will certainly visit again. The town is lovely for...a wander after lunch - lots of little medieval lanes.More

Visited the restaurant with my wife at lunch time the menu is very local French so we thought would give it a go. Ordered two entrecôte what we got was brisket or strip beef all tangled and overcooked. Made a complaint to the manager told...it was entrecôte and argued with us over it and also tried to bring the chef into it. Felt very hostile towards us maybe because we were British staff not helpful terrible customer service offered no discount and no alternative feel totally ripped off. Would not recommend this restaurant at all and will not be visiting ever again.More

The food and service here was fantastic. Extensive menu with regular daily specials. Does not have it's own house wine but has an excellent wine list at a very reasonable price. Service and staff particularly good/friendly

Heading north with my two brothers and father on the A20 out of Limoges we decided to come off the motorway at Jctn 21 and find somewhere to eat. Another 10 miles on the STRAIGHTEST road (D10 / D1) I've seen in years and we...found ourselves in Saint Benoit du Sault. The tabac owner pointed us in the direction of Auberge du Champ de Foire. What an amazing stroke of luck. Also with my father in a wheelchair it was very nice to find everything, including the bathroom, wheelchair accessible. The waitress, although busy, took plenty of time explaining the dishes on the menu that I didn't know and another diner even came to our rescue when my French vocab let me down. Two of us had snails which were very enjoyable and two of us the goats cheese salad. Our mains were all meat dishes, mine a succulent duck, which were all very tasty. Great food, great service and just a great 'feel' to the place. Chatting to the chef I said we had arrived here by luck and were glad we did. He said the same happened to him some years ago ;-) If you're travelling on the A20 Jctn 20 / 21 then I'd highly recommend coming off, seeing an amazingly picturesque village and stopping for a meal you'll tell others about. Bon apetit ;-)More

As infrequent visitors we had not seen this restaurant before but will look forward to our return. The lunchtime menu was good and the french country cooking was excellent. The decor is pretty uninspiring but the food is what you go for.

I went here with a friend of mine i had looked at the other comments which i did not think screamed a good place to eat. Well i am screaming now we both had a fantastic meal of braised lamb shank and thyme with dauphanoise...potato and a vegetable. The meat was succulent and juicy the potato with a nice cream and garlic flavour. The desert was cafe gaumond a small coffee with three different samples of current desert really tasty. The restaurant is light and welcoming. The staff are the right side of attentive. There is a motorhome space on the tourist info carpark opposite with free wifi and a boulangerie 100 meters away for my breakfast tomorrow. A wonderful evening with superb food.More

We have eaten here a couple of times now and are impressed. The service and food is excellent and they have a varied and different menu which is a change to many offered in this part of France where you find the same offerings everywhere....The restaurant was also busy which is nice. We often are the only diners in restaurants here. The prices are good and some great wine is on offer. Highly recommended.More

We ate a set-menu lunch and a dinner here and were very pleased with both meals. The set lunch was good value for money. The service was extremely efficient, even though the restaurant was very busy. It is obviously frequented by the locals, which is...always a good sign. Apparently the current owners have not been there that long but they deserve to do well.More
