Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went here for Christmas dinner. The party included my wife daughter and her partner and my grand daughters. I had soup Christmas dinner and pudding. The service was very friendly. My daughter is a fussy eater and her wishes were accommodated. This place is...well worth another visitMore

We went here today for our Christmas lunch and there was 20 of us and the food was appalling and we did not even receive a Sorry or any kind of discount on our food. The staff were so rude, but Mason was ok! We...had the roast and some had fish pie which was small portion and very dry,The potato’s were so burnt and shrivelled and unable to eat them, and the turkey was SO DRY. When we asked for new potato’s we were told there was not any non burnt ones we could have. We asked for more gravy as there was the tiniest bit on each plate and then they brought out a few more then was told no more gravy for our party. Then the dessert came out and the custard was non existent, we had to ask for more which they did bring. The drinks were good but will not be returning !More

Absolutely awful. Staff are extremely rude and the atmosphere is shocking. This pub used to be great now it’s just terrible. The only good thing is the food. Won’t be returning

I consider going out to a pub for dinner a treat. Unfortunately, the pub had issues on the evening we visited. We ordered food - very basic - salad and a starter - and it never arrived. We asked multiple times - no food. We...had to leave without eating - the manager was not available for the refund. I emailed. I fb msgd. I popped in. Eventually I received the refund after 3 weeks. No apologies. It used to be my favourite local but I haven’t gone back.More

Advertised as Dog Friendly and brought Friends who came down for the weekend and my Little Cockapoo. I was advised by our Waiter if my dog keeps barking I will have to take her outside. It was poring down with rain and the reason she...barked was because she was tormented by 2 little children and I did say this. Our Waiter made me feel unconfutable and not once did he smile or make me feel at ease. I was very stressed and will never go there again. Dogs bark no where did it say if your dog barks you have to leave your meal and sit out on the rain. By the way out little dog is still learning and she is only 17 months. The food was ok but I felt rushed and on edge. The dog did not actually bark one the 2 little children moved away. Never again will I step foot in there way to grumpy.More

Our last ever visit. Used to go once a week. Met family, sandwiches were very poor for the price. It is all about cost-profit, value has no place in their offering anymore.

The food and service was lovely. Very quiet and relaxing lunch. The two downsides were that there wasn't a employee around to ask for the bill. My friend had to go from our table to the bar to ask for the bill??? Also it's a...good job that we'd finished eating our food as a lot of ants were crawling over the table!!! We highlighted this issue to an employee who said that it was because of building work going on which is a very lame excuse and could be prevented by putting baby talcum powder round the entire building!!as ants hate it.More

Booked for Sunday lunch at 12.30. Arrived and found very few people there. The table we were offered was in the middle of the empty room, a large square, places set on opposite sides. Any conversation would be heard by all around us. I requested...a different table but told they were all reserved. Our only option was to use one of the tall tables with high bar stools in the other room where I would have to order at the bar. We went there but found the stools not very deep or comfortable. My friend cannot eat beef products on religious grounds and does not like fish so there was little for her to choose from. We both had a roast, Pork and Chicken. Food was just Ok, pigs in blankets were extra for the chicken, no crackling with the pork or Apple sauce. Plates were not hot so the food cooled quickly. The staff were quite attentive but at times surly and abrupt. It was all alright but could be so much better. We may be back to try once more in the summer as the garden looked good. When we left and hour and a half later the tables we were not offered were still not all filled. Disappointing.More

I've visited this pub a few times now as it's in my local area. Pleasantly surprised to find it's not like the other pubs. Always have a warm welcome, staff are fantastic and talkative and there's always a warm vibe. I would book a table...if you're going for food just in case it does get busy - I always do to avoid disappointment. Food is amazing! Credit to the chef!!! Best starters are the hoisin chicken and lamb kofte - please keep these on the menu. 3 starters for £12 isn't a bad deal either. The steak dishes are incredible - great cut of meat, perfect sauces to accompany this and choice of skinny fries or chunky fries. Desserts are just as good and there is a great choice for children! I've come for a number of occasions including my anniversary and has not disappointed yet. I personally think it's good value for money, usually 3 of us rack up a bill of £80 which isn't too bad considering it's 3 courses per person which a couple drinks each. You leave feeling full and satisfied. Great staff, happy to leave a review for them when they ask and happy to tip them as well. Well done to all of them, we will be back again soon as it's our favourite place in the area!! This year I will 100% be booking my Christmas meal here with the family as I can imagine it will not disappoint!More

Had the jackfruid (fried) salad and the cauliflower steak (on a bed of lentils and beans, and with s fried onion swirl on top) and this is by far the best vegan meal I have ever had.

Following a Birthday visit to the Black Horse in Iver I am posting these comments. Do not visit the Restaurant on a Monday because it is very possible that many of the items on the menu will not be available. I would assume because they...have not restocked after the weekend. We went there for a birthday and could not get what we wanted including a vegetarian meal.More
