Visited with our newborn, 3 year old and met with friends who were travelling from Bournemouth. Food quality was really superb. We had the Sunday Roasts, and children’s homemade chicken nuggets. Everything was freshly cooked and or homemade, you could tell straight away. Plates were nicely warmed and food was perfectly hot.
Just as we were preparing baby’s bottle, without needing to ask, staff brought over water in a jug to warm bottle.
Bar staff were friendly upon arrival and checked that we were happy with the service.
Really the food was better than the Christmas dinner I could cook at home and really generous portions. Would highly recommend.

We were recommended to try the Foresters by the B & B where we were staying and how right they were.
We ended up eating there for 2 of the 4 nights we stayed in the village.
The landlord was very welcoming and sociable and our waitress on both nights really was a lovely lady.
One night we had a main and dessert and the other a starter and main. The portions are are of a size that having all 3 was not an option really (unless you haven't eaten for a week).
The food that we had was very tasty and well presented.
We would certainly recommend the Foresters.

Staying at the Premier Inn ten minutes away "regrettably" the Beefeater on site wasn't able to accommodate us !! Google search found the Foresters and we booked a table for 6.30 - three year old granddaughter with us hence early start. Booking process was 100% - made by Clive who then warmly welcomed us to this very impressive pub. Clean, modern interior with top class furniture and a welcoming atmosphere the menu looked superb and was more than borne out when the food arrived. Lovely presentation ham for one plus our steaks (three of us) were outstanding as were the puddings. Great table service and a lovely evening was had by all. Portions extremely ample - we eat out regularly and this is a " Highly recommended" from us

We arrived slightly early for our booking and we’re sat in the corner of the bar, masks were worn by some servers but not all. We ordered some drinks, the waitress came back and told me the last of my chosen pint had been served, so I chose another, which wasn’t a problem as I like both of these ales.
We ordered food and sat enjoying the evening chatting, my wife’s pasta arrived and looked lovely, and my beer battered fish and chips arrived and looked like a supermarket bought piece of cod which had been left in the fryer far too long, before I even had chance to say anything my wife commented on the fact my batter was burnt, I said I’m glad you said that as I was thinking the same, so I caught the waitresses attention and made her aware that I was not happy with my fish as the batter was extremely dark and burnt rather than golden crispy beer batter.
She was polite and took my plate away apologising.
Five minutes later the landlord appeared with my plate having pulled the fish apart, he said there is nothing wrong with the fish inside, we have to cook it like this as it is thick, I explained that the batter was burnt and I had no doubt the fish inside was ok, the landlord stated again that he had to cook it like that as it was a thick piece of fish, so I let the landlord know I used to be a chef and the fish had been cooked for too long.
He then said shall we call it a night then and you can leave! I couldn’t quite believe this. My wife had started her food and we now had this situation where the landlord was arguing the fact that the fish was over cooked, I really wish I had taken a picture.
So I said, no I have taken my wife out for an nice meal, so could you maybe get me a menu and I will choose something else? He disappeared with my plate, and 5 minutes later returned, by this time I was disgusted at this man’s attitude and our evening was being spoilt. By the time I chose something and they got it out to me, my wife would have finished. So I told him this and asked for the drinks bill as we were going to leave it, he said that’s ok just go.
I have never been so appalled at a pub landlords attitude bearing in mind I eat out 2/3 times a week and used to work in pubs from the age of 14 until 25. I told him his attitude was appalling for a Landlord to which he replied you have a bad attitude for a customer.
Never will I eat here again, whilst this landlord is there. Arrogant and rude doesn’t come close to describing him.
My wife said imagine the staff that work for him, we felt for them.
We managed to get into another local pub and had a lovely meal at The George in Nunney where the fish was perfect and the staff were lovely!

In these COVID days there were the usual issues - book ahead, wear the masks, use the gel but that was all fine and easy. The service was ok and the food very good (though the dessert choice was a bit ‘generic pub’). Wine list was also a bit limited (because of supply issues under COVID we were told). The place was full which is a good sign but our wives noticed there were few if any women apart from them - maybe we picked lad’s night out. Parking is on street and might be difficult (we got the last spot when we arrived) but it is worth booking for the food alone.

Had a nice tasty meal on the first night of our holiday. The menu selection isn't as large as some Chain restaurants, but the range of the menu catered for most tastes and it was freshly cooked and served by friendly staff. The place adhered to current Covid regs which we thought was reassuring. All in all a nice place to eat.

Delicious quality home cooked pub grub. Huge portions for the money. We had thick cut gammon with all the trimmings and the beef lasagne. I couldn't see any sides on the menu and asked if I could have garlic bread with the lasagne as it only came with salad and they were happy to oblige. To be fair the lasagne was that big I couldn't even manage all of it! Everything that was coming out of the kitchen looked great

Went on back of good reports from our family staying in Beckington. Warm reception, prompt and attentive service. Family had warned us on portion sizes so we opted to share 2 starters between 4, with 4 mains. Wow. should be on some sort of Guinness record eating challenge. Starters were great, haloumi and veggie fries with dips - the mains were HUMONGOUS! Unanimous decision that the food was fresh, well prepared and tasty. The size of each serving is reflected in the price, only worry for a couple of us unable to finish was over the potential for mass wastage of uneaten food, and hoping this won't affect profits and survival in these difficult times.(we got doggy boxes and finished our grub the day after) Barely room for a (wafer) dessert, so just coffees all round. Would have preferred an IPA to bitter, couple of draught taps not working, but all in all top drawer. Recommended - going back.

Trip Advisor states that this place is wheelchair accessible! I phoned ahead to check that one, it was wheelchair accessible and two, that they had a disabled toilet. The lady who took my call said yes it was & they did have, so I made a booking.
We struggled to get the wheelchair in the front door, due to the two large planters that they have either side of the door which narrowed the pavement. There was also a car parked right outside which limited where we could move the chair to get to the door. There was a back entrance but it had a step. Once inside and settled at our table, I asked where the disabled toilet was, only to be told that they did not have one! I was not happy! The young waitress could only apologise for the wrong information provided to me. Thankfully my Mum still has a bit of use of her legs and we struggled to the toilet (up a step) & back. The toilet is small and has no grab rails to help people with mobility issues. There’s no way my Mum could have gone to the toilet on her own.
The food & service were however quite good. The place was empty bar one other table who were there when we arrived. We had ham, egg & chips, lasagne, Cajun chicken & a steak pie. Decent portion sizes. The meat in the steak pie just melted in your mouth. The pastry however was soft like it had been pinged in the microwave. Followed by a biscoff cheesecake & apple crumble.
The apologetic waitress went and put a beer barrel on the road outside once the car had moved so that our exit would be easier. They also deducted the cost of my Mum’s food & a drink from the bill as way of an apology which was a nice gesture. She couldn’t apologise enough. I have only given 3 stars due to the wheelchair accessibility issues which for us are a major issue
Suggest all the staff are educated on what facilities they do and do not have & realise that a wheelchair user needs plenty space with level access & a disabled toilet with grab & support rails.

Always enjoy coming here when down in Beckington. The landlord and staff are just so friendly and welcoming. The outdoor seating area has been really well done and the staff did an excellent job of noting empty glasses and speedily bringing fresh drinks out. Lunch was delicious - just proper hearty pub food done well as always. I wish this was my local!

I’ve read the bad reviews of this place and can’t understand them. The restaurant is run by a nice couple who seem friendly enough and the food is yum yum! Portion sizes are fairly on the large side so maybe go easy on a starter.
We had Sunday lunch and it was delicious, had all the right trimmings and even cauliflower cheese. The rest of the menu looks good, doesn’t bother me about not having a menu handed to me, less paper, less waste :) some people will find an excuse to moan about anything. Yes there’s on street parking which must be annoying for the locals but it’s a village pub....

We called in after a busy day at longleat with two young children, so glad we did! As soon as we arrived we were welcomed and showed to a table, our two year old was made a big fuss of, she’s usually shy, but loved it here. We ordered a child’s lasagne, and adults lasagne and a chicken dish and 1 portion of chips, which the owner was right, it did us fine. Such a beautiful place with beautiful people and food, thank you so much!

I visited the Foresters Arms on a Monday evening and it was busier than many places I’ve been to on a Friday evening! Very vibey with plenty of local people, but not clubby enough to make me feel like an outsider.
I opted for Lentil Cottage Pie from a fairly standard pub food and “specials” menu. It was more than adequate and had plenty of well cooked plain veg.
Would definitely return if I was back in the area.

We visited The Foresters Arms for an evening meal with our granddaughters while staying in the area to visit Longleat. We’d seen the reviews here and decided to give it a try.
We received a warm welcome and the lovely lady who served us (I’m sorry I don’t recall her name but I know her sisters name was Mollie) was a hit with our granddaughters Nancy and Mollie.
The food was home cooked and delicious. Hubby had Steak and Ale pie, the girls had sausage and mash and home made chicken nuggets respectively and I had the chicken curry with poppadoms and we all enjoyed it immensely. We also had yummy desserts. We’d like to say thanks for the hospitality and we’ll definitely return if ever we’re in the area. If you’re reading this looking for somewhere local to eat we’d highly recommend it.
