Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

They have opened a huge eating area which spoils the place completely. From being a lovely rustic cafe/restaurant with great food the new part is like a canteen and the greasy smell of frying food was overwhelming. Ordered scampi and chips which came with aioli...mayonnaise and asked for tartare sauce. Extra charge £1.75 for a small pot. No thanks. Baked potatoes and sandwiches £9 albeit they come with some crisps, salad and coleslaw. You are having a laugh! You have totally spoiled the whole place. I was embarrassed in front of my friends by the greasy smell and the fact that I had told them it was lovely but now I certainly won’t be back.More

We have all really enjoyed meals at Whiterow but sadly this time it wasn't great. They have just opened a new area which is nice and bright however, we ordered the same meals we usually have but when the wait staff took the order she...did seem a bit muddled (she seemed nice but possibly was new). 3 of the meals came out together and then the last one came out a few minutes later (not an issue really). The worst bit though was that the chips were terrible. Really dry, not sure if they had been reheated or under a heat lamp too long as they inedible really. When the waitress came over to ask if everything was okay we did say that the chips weren't very good and she didn't really know what to say so just apologised for it. I think it's the first time i've ever said anything in a restaurant and we definitely aren't ones to complete but they were not good. At the end when the plates were collected we had left most of the chips and no comment was made about it. Overall the fish was still nice and portion size was good but we don't live that close and it's doubtful if we'll go back due to the disappointing chips and no acknowledgement of any issue.More

Very disappointed, ordered fish and chips and two drinks only take away available but could use the shed when a glass was requested told not allowed for takeaway I think that paying over £ 30.00 for fish and chips at least a plastic glass could...be offered was eventually offered two glasses. When the fish and chips were ready after a bizarre routine of ordering in the shop given an alarm then going to the window for them we found that the fish was very dry and the batter was like a cardboard overcoat. We have been going to whiterow since it opened but never again very sad.More

I ordered take-away fish and chips for two and was given a buzzer that would alert me as I waited in my car when my order was ready. After waiting more than twenty minutes I returned to query the length of my wait (it was...not busy); the buzzer sounded as I reached the door of the shop. I was told I had been buzzed five times (the buzzer had not sounded while I was in my car - clearly for whatever reason there is a range issue) and that a member of staff had looked for me in the car park (obviously they had not looked very far). I seemed not to be believed that the buzzer did not work and, when I queried whether my food would still be hot if they had spent some time supposedly buzzing and looking for me, I was glibly told my food would still be hot and no offer was made to replace my order with fresh food. After a very short drive home I discovered the inevitable: the food was lukewarm and inedible. £24 had been wasted. My last visit to Whiterow Fish and Chips.More

We went to buy 1 take away fish and chips and 1 adult scampi. What can I say? pretty poor really given the two cost £24. 7 scampi of which one was so deep fried it was burnt and chips that whilst hot, were under...cooked. Had we not driven home to Warminster I would have sent them back. The fish was OK but again portion size seems to have fish cooked as a portion not your normal piece of fish. I wouldn't recommend given its so expensive and that price tag is not justified.More

Called in for a fish and chip takeaway. After waiting approximately 10 minutes, thinking our dinner would be lovely, as we presumed cooked to order. We arrived home in under 5 minutes to enjoy our dinner. Sorry, let me rephrase that..... Fish was cold and...rubbery, batter dark brown, chips cold and soggy. As for our large mushy peas, cold and certainly not large! For the price charged you should at least expect the meal to be hot. No more visits to Whiterow Farm Shop, we'll pay less and get better quality from our local chippy!More

We have used Whiterow Farm Cafe to meet friends for a number of years and until yesterday have always received a warm welcome and good service. There were four of us who met up as usual at 11am yesterday. We ordered coffee (which arrived at...11.20am) and declined the invitation to order food at that point as it was our intention to stay for lunch. At 12 noon the waitress arrived at our table (having been sent by the supervisor) requesting that if we were not intending to order more drinks and food then we would be asked to leave as the table was required for lunch. We reluctantly ordered more drinks having only just finished the first ones and we were at that point still in the middle of catching up. Having been made to feel so unwelcome we decided against ordering lunch and went to the friendly local village pub where we spent most of the afternoon. Beckington Farm shop cafe is far from the place it used to be and has become far too commercialised and greedy. We will not return but I don't suppose they care if we do or not.More

While slightly more expensive than other fish & chip shops in the area the quality of the food and the service makes up for this. We visited on Valentine’s Day and my wife went for the lobster dish and I had scampi and chips and...both dishes were delicious. Highly recommendedMore

Visited the restaurant after checkung out the farm shop which is excellent, lots of artisan priducts and not badly priced.. Daugjter had the fish soup that had loads of salmon and cod with a lovely sauce. The garlic aoili was nice as was the other...dip. The croutins werent very nice as they were soft so perhaps a nice chunk of crusty bread would be better. I had the fishcakes, 2 massive ones which was a surprise and really nice tartare sauce. However the chips were absolutely awful. The worst Ive had at a restaurant. Plus there were so many of them. Fluffy porato with a crispy coating would lead me ti give this place 5 stars. £25 for two including drinks was very reasonable. We'll be back but might give the chips a swerve.More
