The Tarana team were very accommodating when we booked for a large group (36), liaising by phone and email to agree a set menu including special dietary requirements. On the evening the restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive so the meal ran very efficiently...for such a large group and it was plentiful and delicious! We would definitely return again and I wouldn't hesitate to arrange another large group booking after this experience.More

Whilst this restaurant could tick many boxes, for its friendly & attentive staff, excellent service and large space, which is ideal for groups, parties, & work gatherings, it's the food that, in my opinion really let's it down. Having travelled around India & Bangladesh, experiencing...true & authentic food, this was sadly, as with most UK Indian restaurants geared for the British palette, & as another review mentions, Anglified! The starters, served at the table was a nice touch, with the best dish, the Samosas, which were packed full of mixed veg, & with a slight spice, not at all greasy, & tasty, these were the highlight. On the buffet there is choice, & offers good options for meat eaters through to vegans, however all dishes seemed to lack flavour, spice and more importantly, they lacked the layers of flavours you should get when eating true authentic Indian food. I felt the buffet was the poorer option, with possibly the main menu giving better dishes.More

Went here for a meal with 4 family members - sunday buffet.... We all commented that it was fantastic value for money with some hits and some forgivable misses in the cooking. Not that this should influence things but my family are indians though have...lived majority of lives in UK. I would clasiffy this food as anglified - Bangledeshi food with the occasional traditional surprise dish (E.g. naga lamb was like a proper dish the others were very british versions of curries all) Heres a quick breakdown Poppadums - fantastic relish range.. given buffet was nice to have such a spread of toppings, none of us had had the sweet coconut as an option before and they were all interesting. Starters - it was nice to have this as table service and the timing of bringig this out was perfect with all the items having been cooked fresh. Fried stuff generally tastes good, but we believe it was all freshly made (samosas had mixed veg etc, bhajis were clearly home made). someone else commented on this but the oil was clearly fresh as nothing was greasy or smelly. Chicken was weakest link but ok when doused in lemon was fine On to mains... most were decent /good. - weakest link was the chicken tikka masalla .. it just tasted oddly sweet. but there was lots of other stuff to chose from .. The lamb the day we went was very good ... traditionally made and slow cooked to perfection . Its unusual to see a prawn dish with "proper prawns" in a buffet however the dansak could have done with being thicker lentils (ironically this would make it a cheaper dish too for the owners). The vege dishes were good too, but I personally think they could get away with removing one of the chicken dishes and putting a dahl option in to even up veg/non veg options. No dishes were particularly hot but did have individual tastes/spicings. As with most buffets you end up over eating if not careful. Deserts were what was needed .. I stuck with fruit but there was some cake and some indian sweets ( a rice pudding I forget the name of Kheir I think ) and Gulub Jamun (which are like donuts soaked in cardemon sugar syrup) .. they apparently were ok but traditionally its warmed syrup which isnt practical for buffet. Overall picking the good stuff and avoiding the bad and with the sheer no of dishes and quantity and choice its a 5 .. if you did chose to eat the bad stuff I could see some reason for bad reviews but cant knock the value of the buffet in any shape or form. Staff were good.. It wasnt overly busy when we went. Service wasnt attentive but it wasnt hard to get someones attention when needed (it was a buffet so expectation of service was lower for me).... I'd be interested in visiting when they do a music night ... sounds like it may be a laugh.More

We had a wonderful meal last night and the staff went above and beyond to look after us. We will certainly be back.

We have visited Tarana on many occasions and have always had amazing food. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. I have never had a reason to fault the business for anything. Thank you guys, we’ll be seeing you soon

One of the best nights out, went to the Tina Turner tribute night was absolutely amazing, food was high quality as usual. Many thanks to Jahan and all the staff for making our night wonderful!

Booked for a music night. Table was not ready on arrival. The services was very slow when asking for a drink. We got given a different tables bill but had to go to the bar to ask for the bill. The food was ok nothing...special. Bit poor all round really. We left early.More
