I use the Tarana often, both for restaurant and take-away. The food is reliably good, staff are friendly, especially the manager, and the athmosphere is nice. The meal usually arrives fairly quickly so you don't have to wait for hours. They have entertainment on some nights which is usually fun, check out the website for belly dancing and tribute acts.

If you want to be guaranteed the best flavoured, tasty food, then you must go to Tarana. You definitely will not be disappointed.
I have tried several dishes and I can say that every dish I have had has lived up to and beyond my expectations. (Archari is one of my favourites)
The staff are so friendly and welcoming too and always so happy to see you and acknowledge you when you are a regular.
So you get real personal service with great quality food, Tarana is just the best Indian restaurant I have been to and their takeaways have given me something to look forward to during lockdown. That being said I really can not wait for them to open again, so that I can enjoy the amazing dine in experience that they offer.
They truly are the best. You will not be disappointed. Such lovely food and lovely staff. Spice up your lockdown with one of their takeaways. ;)

Take away service: Tarana have served up amazing food during the pandemic. Collection is always on time and hassle free and the staff make you feel so welcome. Food is sooo flavoursome and piping hot and as I write this my mouth is watering for our Tarana takeaway tonight!

Phoned at 6, told to pick up at 7, arrived to a packed car park and cars parked on the road causing chaos. We then proceeded to queue for an hour in the car park in the freezing cold. Upon entering the restaurant we continued to wait a further 75 minutes, a woman entered caused a scene as her pick up time was 7.30, got her food 10 minutes later, at that point went up and demanded money back, the manager stalled for a further 15 minutes, and our food order was rushed through at that point. The manager gave us 20 pounds back, by way of apology but that barely covered the food that we found to be missing from our order. We appreciate that times are unusual at present, but when taking the orders they should of informed that there would be a serious delay, we can only assume that it was pure greed on there behalf that made them treat the customers in such a disgraceful way.

I am sorry about New Year's Eve. We were overwhelmed by the love of our customers who appreciate us; we stopped all means of order taking around 6:30 pm, that is why you could not get through the phone. (I am sorry at the time it was the right thing to do! concentrate on the order we had and get them to customers!) I was a little too late stopping the order taking and apologize for the inconvenience!
We had people who came in before we were expecting them and some in queues whose orders were ready but could not get to us on time because of the queuing blown our normal flow/collapsed the system.
Unfortunately, not everyone is considerate as others, some people do not realize we are only human & all we are doing is fulfilling our duty! And trying to save unprecedented Covid-19’s New Year Eve! It was not GREED!!
2020 was an unprecedented year indeed! New Year's Eve did not go according to plan either! However, I am proud of my team for trying their best to save 2020 and am glad it is over!
We strive to maintain a high level of quality food and service at all times!

Came here for New Years Eve (2018) and was persuaded to come again this year. Unfortunately I feel the resturant takes on more than it can cope with . Our meal was very late in arriving this being due to Staff just forgetting we were there and not taking our order . When our food finally arrived our plates were cold and the food only luke warm . I feel also the resturant loses the fact that it is a New Year Celebration and doesn’t use it to enhance the evening . So for me a very expensive disappointing evening !

My partner and I visited in April and although the booking process was easy via the website the food is really overrated. We arrived on a busy Saturday night and placed our orders quite quickly, we then had to wait over an hour for our food. I ordered Paneer Masala and my partner ordered a spicy chicken dish (recommended by the waiter as my partner, from India, wanted to eat traditional spicy Indian food). The paneer masala was far too sweet with not enough authentic flavours and the chicken dish was so mild, even I could eat it. Note; adding a few extra green chillis does not make a dish spicy. In the meantime we did enjoy the poppadoms and the chutneys with this were very tasty. The naan bread was fresh but it was overall quite disappointing considering we were expecting award winning. We would go back but certainly have lower expectations.

Whilst this restaurant could tick many boxes, for its friendly & attentive staff, excellent service and large space, which is ideal for groups, parties, & work gatherings, it's the food that, in my opinion really let's it down.
Having travelled around India & Bangladesh, experiencing true & authentic food, this was sadly, as with most UK Indian restaurants geared for the British palette, & as another review mentions, Anglified!
The starters, served at the table was a nice touch, with the best dish, the Samosas, which were packed full of mixed veg, & with a slight spice, not at all greasy, & tasty, these were the highlight.
On the buffet there is choice, & offers good options for meat eaters through to vegans, however all dishes seemed to lack flavour, spice and more importantly, they lacked the layers of flavours you should get when eating true authentic Indian food.
I felt the buffet was the poorer option, with possibly the main menu giving better dishes.

This was our first visit to Tarana, we booked a table for 6 people on a busy Saturday evening at 7.15pm.
Our order was taken promptly, drinks, poppadums and pickles arrived. We decided against starters, so ordered main meals.
The main meals arrived at 9pm, no one had apologized to say there was a delay. Our Son has a medical condition and had injected thinking he would be eating within the hour.
I emailed Tarana the next day, they did not respond so I then printed off the email and sent it to them by post hoping they would speak to me.
Having heard nothing we feel really let down and disappointed.
Such a shame as curry is our favorite food, we had hoped that we had found a new restaurant to visit.

Visited yesterday evening with my girlfriend and my work friends who really wanted to witness the Tarana Experience.
We attended when the restaurant opened and had drinks first at the bar area which was really a nice touch.
We even had a tour of the kitchen where the food is prepared and cooked which was awesome and was spotlessly clean.
For the whole night we were looked after by the amazing attentive staff so we could all relax and enjoy the night (there were 13 of us). The menu choice is huge and we all agreed that the food was amazing and flavoursome.
The drinks choices were also huge with several of us sampling the delicious cocktails.
Two of my colleagues were celebrating their birthday and birthday cakes were bought out by the staff so was a lovely touch!
This is without doubt the best restaurant I have ever visited as the perfect venue/staff/food and drink choices.
Give it a go for the perfect night out!

They use rapeseed oil, many of the other local places cut corners and use the cheapest oil which tends to be genetically modified soya oil. Tarana is superior for this reason. Nice sunday buffet too. The mango chutney is a bit of a let down but many other places have this same low grade chutney and I would expect better to match the otherwise excellent food. Would get 5 stars if the used free range rather than caged chicken but probably most people would not want to pay the price.

Having been a fan of the Tarana Restaurant over the years it was good to hear about the home delivery, as we are in Lockdown as vulnerable.
We had our first delivery last night, which arrived exactly on the requested time. The delivery chap was friendly and smiling and the cash transaction was complete within a minute, no faffing around.
The food we had ordered was all of the same excellent standard you receive at the Restaurant and pipping hot. I would definitely have it again and would readily recommend it to others.
Well done Johan for this great service at this difficult time.

Probably the best restaurant I’ve visited, we went there this evening.. very welcoming is an understatement, no waiting to be seated.. the staff are smashing.. always up for a laugh, food was worth its weight in gold.. nearly moved in after how welcoming they were. we got there at 8 and left at 11:15 not once did the staff try to rush us!
Once food was done and dusted the waiter approached my table to see the newborn baby, then told us that we’ve got a round on the house! Shots of covorsier done me no justice but it’s free 🤷🏼♂️
Thank you to all the staff
Also dropped £5 that the staff could of kept if they wasn’t honest, so I slid it into the waiters pocket with another £20

We have been to this restaurant more times than i can remember but never have we come away disappointed or had a bad meal.
It is incredibly consistent and that isn't easy to keep food coming all the time as tasty and as fresh as they manage.
The staff are friendly and knowledgable and the atmosphere is always good.
The restaurant is always clean and the beer is the perfect temperature.
Little things, i know, but its the little things that count.

On way to Crawley at about 4 on a Sunday so thought we would stop and see if they were still serving. They were and what a treat! Very tasteful decor, White linen table cloths and napkins, cutlery spotless.Always a good sign of attention to detail. Was brought the poppadoms and dips.two things I had not had before- this yellow stuff which was coconut- (couldhave just ate the whole pot with a spoon) and red stuff with some sort of bean- lovely jubbly. The waiter did take time to tell us what the ingredients were when I showed my ignorance. ( in fact they gave us a little pot of these items to take home) The starters were lovely and freshly done I beleive. The buffet was so good. Had a bit of everything but the star was the lamb. Usually I avoid indian lamb dishes as they always seem so tough however, this was delicious. Would gladly travel the 15 miles from home to eat here even though there are very nice indian restaurants closer to home. The Staff were delightful. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

We ordered the food to take away, but inadvertently made a blunder, which meant that upon our arrival, our order hadn't gone through as we had thought. The team couldn't have handled our error any better. They quickly re-placed the order, with the food ready without a long wait. Every dish was absolutely delicious and catered completely for my daughter, who has coeliac. Amazing experience! It's not the first time we've eaten there and certainly not the last.
