Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We recently hired the private room, for a birthday lunch for 24 people. The event was hosted by Alex, along with some lovely waiting staff, and we honestly couldn’t fault the service they provided. The food was fresh, hot and delicious, and we received only positive comments from all of our guests. The private room is a great area (there is an additional charge) and it really made the event feel even more special. Prior to the event, my emails were answered promptly, and on the day, everything was perfect. I would definitely recommend a visit, and despite not living close by, I definitely plan to return before too long.

The venue is located where there are unobstructed views of beautiful, open countryside.
The service is warm, welcoming, relaxed, informative (without being intrusive) and very professional but without any unnecessary formality.
The menu carries an adequate list of inviting dishes, all at reasonable prices considering the quality of the experience that is provided. It is definitely Not 'pub food'.
The popularity of this restaurant is such that it is always best to reserve a table in advance.
I have visited 'The Barn' on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed.

I went to this restaurant with my wife for a Sunday lunch. Apart from watching Storm Ciara in action for some of our visit, the views of the countryside were fabulous. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was of a good standard.
I was impressed with the fact that they catered well for disabled persons ( I am one of those people), and the cost of the meal was very reasonable.
I will visit here again, my wife visits quite often, this was my first visit.
Overall the food quality was excellent, and the serving also excellent, nothing is too much trouble.
I strongly suggest a visit.

Mould Marnier comprised mussels floating in cream - no garlic, no white wine, no parsley. I can still taste the over used oil from the chips and from the 'brie bites taster' that, unfortunately, had no brie taste at all. To top it all, the glass of wine I was offered tasted extremely cheap and turned out to cost £9 per glass!

I never write dining reviews. Ate here last night for the first time and am sad to say was disappointed with the meal. Beautiful decor, light and ambient and the staff was really friendly and attentive. I didn’t think there was enough distance between the tables for two (couple) compared to other restaurants we’ve eaten in during covid. The menu was nice and varied and the starter was very tasty but tepid which spoiled it, serving on stone cold plates didn’t help. For the mains we went with steak (can’t go wrong really), again my meal was tepid which spoiled the taste. I had cabbage and leeks as an alternative chips which was absolutely stone cold and a bit tough and tasteless to be honest. Even the garlic butter wouldn’t melt as the veg was so cold, to liven the veg up. My husband said his meal was warm but not hot. The mains never came till around 9:30pm so it was too late to complain the meal was cold and we was hungry and didn’t want to eat any later. I had sirloin steak which was tough to cut and chew, it was stringy with thick gristle - I’ve had better from the supermarket. We may have just been unlucky or eating late may not have helped, the the restaurant was buzzing with diners. Service was slow. Meals need to be served on hot plates, I was surprised they was cold. Hot plates keep your food warm while you eat it, I even serve my own meals on hot plates. Not sure if we’d return.

One of the worst please I have eaten in the last decade. All the food seemed like it had been warned up in the microwave, completely tasteless and at best luke warm. We had meals missing which resulted in people eating separately, the steaks were that bad all three people who had them decided to take them home for the dog. The sauces had all been packed away so we didn’t receive them until we had finished or had enough of the slop they served us. This is the first and only time I would eat here. If your looking for somewhere serving good food and good service, give this place a miss and don’t let them ruin your evening.

Had a very relaxed and enjoyable meal with my wife here just after Christmas. Food is great, service friendly and the view from the big window lovely.
Had a business lunch before Christmas as well which was equally excellent - they were particularly patient with us taking a long time over our meal and decisions
I would highly recommend

This is the third time I've eaten here and I travel over an hour to do so each time, bringing friends, family and clients - it really is superb. Gorgeous location, stunning food, wonderfully friendly staff and spotless throughout. The veggie options are fantastic too - I could not recommend it highly enough. I am not sure why some reviews list it as overpriced - it really is not considering the quality and portion sizes of the food. We had two mains (veggie and lamb), two desserts, one soft drink and one large G&T = approx £50 which, considering the quality of the food is absolutely worth it.

'We were a party of 10 this time, rather than our usual 2. All aspects of our visit were at the same high standard. 2 of our party prefer a Vegan menu and 4 travel extensively internationally so it was particularly pleasing for them to experience a great example of local cuisine and fayre and a menu that caters so well for all needs. All were delighted with the wide choice available, especially immediately after Christmas, the quality and presentation of their meals and the fact that all meals arrived together. Thank you'

I used the private dining area to host my 30th birthday meal with my family, including small children. The space is perfect for privacy and we loved having our own waitress who was extremely helpful and on hand for anything.
The food was fabulous and everyone had a great night.

We had our staff Christmas lunch in the private dining area just before Christmas and we enjoyed it so much we have already booked for next year.
The food was great and all arrived hot, a rarity with large scale Christmas catering.
The service we had throughout from our initial enquiry to looking after us on the day was top-notch, thank you all very much

We held a corporate evening meal here last week with over 50 guests and it was a very successful event. Staff were superb. Lots of them, and they were very attentive. As one of the hosts it made my role very easy and enjoyable. Food was excellent and we had lots of positive comments from guests who are used to eating out at good restaurants. Would love to hold a similar event next year. Thanks for making it such a great evening!

We went to The Barn for afternoon tea for my SIL birthday the staff were absolutely fabulous nothing was too much trouble. There was a good selection of sandwiches fresh & tasty the scones were freshly baked and still warm and there was an abundance of assorted fancies.
The setting overlooking rolling countryside is beautiful and the restaurant is airy, modern & pleasant. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We booked a family lunch for 20 people to celebrate joint 70th birthdays. The function room was perfect, with natural light, flexible table arrangements, and easy-to-use projector and sound system. Will and the team could not have been more helpful in the planning of layout, timing and menus, for a group aged between 2 and 72! The food itself was delicious, served perfectly by friendly staff led by a dedicated person. Good wine list, too. The Barn made it possible for us to relax and enjoy the day. Highly recommended.

We have been here many times and it is a great favorite. Recently went to celebrate Valentines Day and the menu was a delight. The food is beautiful and the service superb. We are always greeted like old friends and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are so kind and polite. Food is cooked just to your liking and special requests are no trouble. When the lighter evenings are here, get a table by the window for great views across the countryside.
