Visited for a Sunday roast after a walk on Sandsend beach. The quality of the food was first class; rare roast beef and pork, amazing roast potatoes, and a huge range of other vegetables, each cooked beautifully. Puddings were also great, with the added bonus option of 3 smaller versions of your favourites! Will certainly be visiting again

The staff were friendly and welcoming. They took our orders after we were seated which was nice. Everything looked tidy and clean. There was a lovely pool table in the back room near the toilets and the old fashioned fire is a must see. I have to say the cheese soufflé was probably the best I've ever had.

We visited this lovely country pub on new years day for Sunday lunch. As soon as we walked in the staff were smiling and very welcoming. The pub is gorgeous with a beautiful log fire and was still decorated beautifully for Christmas. My father in law is Gluten free which can sometimes be tricky but no problem at this pub!... More

What a great place! Delightfully welcoming staff, cosy restaurant and really superb food. There is a wide and varied menu, from sandwiches to succulent plates of beautifully prepared dishes. Will certainly be going back

We dropped in for dinner on a wet windy Wednesday evening, and we are so pleased we stopped here as the meal was sooooo tasty. Friendly staff, a lovely comfortable pub with a roaring fire to sit next to for pre-dinner drinks. There is a a good choice of food and it is very reasonably priced too. One of the... More

We chose The Wheatsheaf for two reasons: it is one of the few restaurants in the area recommended in the Michelin Guide; it has excellent reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed! The food was fantastic - all freshly prepared using local ingredients, and the prices are very reasonable. The owners made us feel very welcome, and we would... More

Unspoiled, unpretentious village pub with well kept beer (three hand pumps) and well cooked, fresh ingredients, fairly priced food. Look it out of the Good Beer Guide (an often out of date and misleading guide but better than nothing) and was very pleasantly surprised to find the description remained accurate. Well worth a detour if visiting the more obvious spots... More

Had a meal out with my step mum as we live in the area. We only had a main course (the salmon), the staff were so friendly, the service was spot on and the meal itself was absolutely perfect. I will definatly go back and have the same dish again

A very pleasant inn, well located for travellers on the North York Moors. The bright and airy dining room is a delight, with comfortable, well spaced tables. An interesting menu with a range of very well prepared and tasty options. A goup of 6 of us had 5 different dishes and all were excellent. Prices were very reasonable and service... More
