What a lovely pub. The food, the staff and the owners were delightful. We sat outside on a wonderful summers day eating cold roast beef with salad and sweet potato fries, finished off with the trio of desserts - heaven. Hope I can arrange our itinerary so we can go again before returning home!

When plans to eat elsewhere fell through we managed to book here last minute. What a stroke of luck. Couldn't fault anything, and the trio of desserts were terrific. Would definitely recommend. Our friends said they would come back and they are 1 hour's drive away.

The Wheatsheaf combines the best of two worlds. Still a local pub for residents of this hilltop village, but manages to match this with a first class restaurant. Although familiar with the village and the area this is the first time we have eaten here after being invited by friends staying nearby. We were not disappointed. The menu is varied... More

Sorry, just wrote a review for the restaurant on the hotel listing instead of this one! Do please have a read on that one as I can't be bothered to type it all out again!

We had a family meal at the Wheatsheaf whilst staying in the area. The food was good with a good choice of menu, not just the usual pub meals. The service was good and all the waiters were helpful. Although the bar was lovely and cosy, we were sat in the dining room which lacked atmosphere, especially as it seamed... More

Stayed in the attached cottage of this wonderful Yorkshire Moors Inn. Extensive restaurant menu, relaxed surroundings but still very professional in every way. Great wine list too! Our hosts had thought of everything from electic blankets on the beds to bowls of fresh fruit to start the most fabulous cooked breakfast ( no tinned mandarins here!). Newspapers, an Aga and... This was our first visit to the Wheatsheaf for Sunday lunch and what a fabulous meal and experience we had. The staff were brilliant - very friendly, helpful and attentive and the restaurant provided an excellent setting. My wife ordered beef whilst my son and I ordered pork, our plates soon arrived and there was plenty of meat which was... More

Stopped here at the off chance that we might get Sunday lunch. The place at first seemed a bit deserted and we were surprised to hear that they would see if we could be accommodated. Sat in the empty dining room by the log fire we ordered. The food arrived within five minutes and kept on coming. The meat was... More

We called in to the Wheatsheaf on the off-chance of getting a table at Sunday lunchtime. I think we got the last available table just before the second sitting. The roasts were delicious and came with Yorkshire puddings and NINE did rent vegetables. The only downside - no way we could fit in pudding!

We had previously tried booking this restaurant, but were disappointed as they were always fully booked. This time we booked earlier in the week and were successful. We booked for four adults and a 7 years old child and having now experienced the hospitality and food at the Wheatsheaf Inn, can understand why we there is the need to book... More
