Kings Head lunch Xmas Day was good-ish. Lovely place, great food. Welcomed with champagne, so that helped! My starter (goats cheese mousse with beetroot) was like a breath of air on the plate (think it was a foam squirted on, with a few beetroot bits). Luckily I struggle to eat 3 courses.... Hubby liked his seafood cocktail (also tiny, but... More

Went for lunch, Resturant was very quiet which was unexpected as other places were fully booked. Food was mediocre and the service wasn't great. Expensive meal for what was very disappointing. Won't be returning any time soon.

Oh dear, what has happened to this place?! This used to be a place to come for a special treat but now no one comes here! Booked a table on a Saturday night (in December!) we were the only table in a large restaurant so we asked to move to the bar as we didn't want to be alone. It... More

Just had a lovely Sunday lunch here with family. They happily accommodated 10 of us. The Sunday roast beef was cut thickly, the vegetables (6 varieties), were well cooked and the Yorkshire pudding was big and fluffy (being from Yorkshire we appreciate these things!). A nice touch was not having to ask for extra gravy which came with the meal... More

We stayed here on the last night of our walking holiday. After w 12 mile walk we sat in the bar and enjoyed gin and tonic from there extensive Gin collection. This is a dog friendly hotel so our black lab enjoyed her stay. The rooms are very comfortable. The meals here are really good there are some beautiful dishes... More

Went for a meal with friends in a party of four one Saturday and we were expecting it to be good but it was simply superb. I started with mushroom soup. It's a good indicator of how skilled the chef is when he/she can make a simple dish this good. Main course was a vegetarian dish - mushroom wellington in... More

We have visited many times over the past few years. What a difference since our last visit. Prices up, quality and service down. Very disappointed. Will not be returning in the foreseeable future.

Muddled booking, and that was just for Sunday lunch. Friendly reception staff, let down by unacceptable service, and waiting staff who attempted to make an over an hour wait for starters attributable to us......the diners. Some dishes ok, after a very long wait, they needed to be worth waiting for, but when they were served, no cutlery! By the time... More
