Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sadly a very poor experience. I’ve been visiting the pub for nearly 15 years now and tonight was amongst the worst. Throughout the meal we were rushed and the food was lacking in quality. Then, when the cheeseboard was ordered no knife was offered and...whilst the plate was also one basic cracker and only one cheese grated. In a competitive village I feel there was much left to be desired. More customer engagement would go a long way.More

Fantastic from start to finish. We stayed in the hotel overnight and were able to check in early. The staff were so friendly. We sat in the bar for a good few hours. The drinks coming with cheese and olives was a lovely touch. The...staff take great pride in their work and we felt so welcome. Room was beautiful with lovely little touches. Bed comfy. Perfect temperature. Breakfast was outstanding and we will certainly be back!More

The best service I've had in many years, every person I spoke to couldn't have been better, it was all run by about 4 or 5 youngsters that clearly had been trained to a high standard and had a passion for everyone to learn happy...thank you I will return.More

Went for lovely midweek meal with my Husband. Food was good and service was good until!!,,, asked for service charge to be removed (as always like to leave my own tip as not American) Instantly the attitude of the Waitress changed completely. We could hear...the Waitress speaking to a local at the bar and mocking service charge being removed, Also,When trying to pay at the bar (as Waitress didn’t return to our table), as was completely ignored and just chatting to local punter. When we finely got to pay the Waitress took the money saw the £5 tip walked other side of the bar threw it in a tip jar (whatever) no thank you, no eye contact, nothing complete contempt!,,More

We had such an enjoyable lunch. Interesting menu. Well cooked, tasty food. Excellent service. Old 'pubby' atmosphere.

Visited on a Thursday lunchtime with a friend. What's not to like we had 2 dishes each from the small plate menu, mussels tasty and plentiful, and the smoked salmon dish was delicous. My friend had the the airfried beef ( that's for me next...time I vist!) and the goats cheese salad. All washed down with a great no.14 white wine. Great food, great serviceMore

Went for lunch on a QUIET end of service at 2.30pm on a Thursday afternoon for a celebration lunch. Great welcome . Fab amuse bouche. Ordered Fillet Steak @ £30, medium rare. Plate was stone cold, steak was Bleu, the mushroom smear across the plate...was cold , Peppercorn sauce was cold and congealed and looked like someone had tried to stir in the skin, saute potatoes were acceptable, only ONE mushroom not mushrooms. I told the waitress that I wasn't happy and she said I totally understand and returned my plate to the kitchen. To my shock all I could hear was the chef moaning about my complaint . We were seated down the far end by the fire place and could here him from there and so could the rest of the customers at the bar. I then made the decision to say if that's his attitude I don't want a replacement. Enter the blond curly haired argumentative manager who proceeded to tell me that my plate wasn't cold (even though she hadn't touched it) and that my sauce was congealed because it had been SITTING on the pass. When my partner was served his burger he was told that his plate was hot, however his burger was cold in the middle too. This is the 2nd time we have eaten here but will not be returning . The chef has a terrible attitude and thinks he is cool coming out into the bar with his tea towel on his shoulder but he obviously doesn't remember his training = cross contamination, dandruff , hair loss & sweat. Such a shame.More

In fairness to our blond curly haired manager, she was not argumentative at all and it is wrong to suggest so. She listened politely and carefully to your concerns and refunded your meal and discounted your partner's meal by 50%, even though he had finished...More

We cycled to Wye for a vegan lunch and were blown away by the delicious plant based Sunday toast. It was healthy, flavoursome and hot as well as well presented and good value for money. The service was great. We will be back!

A great meal and a super warm welcome. The staff in this pub really show warmth and pride in what they do. We couldn't have asked for better service and this pub really has understood that this is as important as the food which was...also delicious. Of all the pubs in Wye, this one was packed on a Saturday night and I can see why. Keep doing what you're doing, as you are standing out for customer service above the crowds.More

What a lovely friendly cosy pub not to noisy not to crowded great staff attentive and helpful. The food was also good not a lot of choose for vegetarians hence I had a starter as a main so my Greek type salad was a bit...boring but the delicious dessert made up for it a baked blue cheese chutney and bisc was the filler! My other dinner guest all 5 also enjoyed there food was really looking forward to the “fresh homegrown vegetables” that the waitress mentioned but notice none of us had any? Steak came with large flat mushroom and tomato fries no veg! Chicken on pasta no veg! Rice bowl was rice my rocket starter was very uniformed rocket! But enjoyable. Plenty of parking Great place to catch up with friends as you can hv a conversation without to much noise. Not sure I would returnMore

We came this evening with two friends who have been before. Was the first time for us and won’t be the last. The food was amazing. The mussel starter was so good and fresh including the sea air! I am a fish person and most...pubs do vac pak mussels and don’t even know what fresh live mussels are, these were amazing fresh mussels! Presentation amazing, flavours amazing and service was exceptional. Can’t rate it high enough. We will be back.More

Amazing service! Ordered small plates and sat outside but service was superb. Even received vol au vents in honour of the coronation and the dogs had treats served on a silver platter which contained off cuts of roast. Staff were attentive and very friendly. 10/10...for everything.More
