We love the Shoulder, usually visit once every couple of weeks or so, be it Friday night dinner or Sunday lunch after walking the dog over the moors. Fab food, and the little pots of veg are just delicious. Try the cod with mussels and crayfish tails.

I dropped by for some food a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to write a review since. Lovely place, really lovely Sunday lunch with very impressive yorkies, very nice staff. I will be back soon.

We just popped in on our way passed for an afternoon snack but then decided to get a meal. The food was lovely, although I got food envy from my husband's meal as the meat just pulled apart, easily broken up in your mouth. Plus the amount of meat was a good portion. All staff were friendly & welcoming, although... More

Never been disappointed it's always a nice place to eat after a walk up the hill and back. Good homemade food and nice sun trap when it shows its face.

Nice place to eat, relaxed atmosphere. Visited on a Sunday with friends and it was busy. Service was good except once we had been given our bill we waited ages before we could get hold of someone to pay. Food was really nice and varied. Would recommend booking a table, as there were quite a few people waiting for a... More

We have often called in The Shoulder over the years but we were a little disappointed last week. We dined in the bar area and the food was ok but the pub lacks atmosphere and feels tired , it definitely needs a little refurbishment.

After a walk up to peel Tower this was exactly what we needed. Dogs in the pub to stroke, a pint and a good sandwich. Loads of lovely filling on lovely bread. What more could you ask for?

I have been meaning to attend this place for several years as it always seems busy when I pass. The family and I decided to have a meal out on Tuesday evening and The Shoulder of Mutton was the chosen location. Upon arrival we were greeted by extremely pleasant staff and shown to our seats. Drinks orders were taken and... More

I visited on a Saturday evening, there was a pleasant, busy atmosphere. The service was efficient and friendly. The food was piping hot and very tasty. Slightly disappointed by the deconstructed element of the meal as it made eating it quite tricky but will definiately return. Have not been for a couple of years due to very poor experience so... always like visiting this pub when I'm back in the country. Cosy and great food albeit somewhat on the pricey side but you get what you pay for
