First visit here with family and friends. Had roast beef and huge Yorkshire pudding. Would have preferred ordinary veg with the roast potatoes and mash. The Yorkshire pud was huge but would have been better if less dry. Four or five real ales available which is good and a nice selection of red wines by the glass. A friendly pub... More

Ate here last night and wasn't disappointed. 1st time visited, warm welcome with a gin and tonic to die for, service good and food excellent. Always like to have black pudding when over this side of the Pennines and for starter had seared scallops with black pudding-delicious,main course had Indian spiced hake, again delicious and we all had pudding,I chose sticky toffee pudding... The main courses we ate were very tasty....a spicy hake dish and a slow braised beef dish were particularly good, but the food was just about warm enough to eat in all four cases.three average puddings followed. The wine was nice;the... More

Friday night dinner in the small restaurant was an, overall, delicious affair. Good buzz from the main room and a cracking pint of local bitter started the evening. Not blown away by the choice of starters but the lamb's fillet salad was tasty enough although we had to wait too long for one of the Scotch eggs which also turned... More
