Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just called in for an impromptu lunch. Lovely gastropub, with a great vibe. Had fish and chips and Parsnip and Coconut soup - both absolutely gorgeous. Special mention to Lewis who served us - so nice to have waiting on staff who are thoroughly professional...and efficient, yet naturally friendly, We'll definitely return.More

Our company visited Eagle and Child for one of our quarterly work company days out and what a decision it was! Eagle have lots of variety when it comes to their menu although most of us opted for the steak frites which did not disappoint!...If you haven't been to the Eagle and Child on a Friday then make sure that you put it on your bucket list because steak frites Friday is something that everyone should experience at least once but knowing how much our company enjoyed the food I doubt it will be the last time! Many thanks to all the staff for making our experience 10/10More

I would highly recommend Eagle and Child! Our company went for lunch the other week, the service was efficient and all the staff are lovely. Would also recommend the Friday offer for the steak, very good value for money!

Delightful cosy pub . Tastefully decorated in a contemporary style. Friendly staff who made us very welcome and were exceptionally attentive to our service. Comprehensive menu with good choice of vegetarian options. Very good food and efficient service. We were made to feel valued as...customers and you don't find that very often. I have no hesitation in recommending this venue. Troy looked after us wonderfully , the staff are a credit to their employers. We will be returning.More

The Eagle &Child has a fantastic reputation in Ramsbottom for having great food.. since moving here last year- it’s been on my list to try. Me and my family have been tonight- and Wow! The food was stunning, the environment was fabulous and the service...was top notch. My party had a variety of dishes, Sunday lunch, steak Frites and the hake. It was all cooked to perfection, well seasoned and beautifully presented. I have got to say this is the nicest food I have had in a while. It certainly has lived up to my expectations and more. Now currently planning my next visit! Couldn’t recommend it enough!More

Only living 10 mins down the road we have had several lovely meals here and as we had a free weekend we decided to take the opportunity to stay in one of the gorgeous rooms (Barn Owl) to avoid one of us having to drive....We were lucky enough to have a dry couple of hours to wander down to town for a coffee and cake (the fuel we needed to tackle the hill going back up !). As soon as we arrived back the rain came and didn't stop before we left so maybe we didn't see the view from our room in all its glory. The room itself was perfect - cleanliness and attention to detail very high and the little extras in the fridge a nice touch and we had a relaxing couple of hours before heading downstairs for something to eat. We had opted for the bed, breakfast and lunch package which I can honestly say is the best value we have experienced when booking packages elsewhere - no restriction to what you can choose from the menu, you can have whatever three courses you want, along with a bottle of house wine. As it was Sunday, there was no way I was passing up the Sunday lunch and, as always, it didn't disappoint - it's not often I clear my plate but this time I did and ended up too full for dessert! As we were leaving on a Monday the breakfast was a lovely little hamper delivered to our door before we woke up and it was great to not have to set the 'work alarm' and think about what to make for breakfast, it was a leisurely treat. Final comment has to be around the overall service, you are welcomed as soon as you walk in the door, regardless of whether you are just going for a drink, having a meal or staying over. And the biggest shout out has to go to Troy - an absolute gem !More

Went last night for mine and my daughters birthday. Food was fabulous. Outstanding service was provided to us by Troy, nothing was too much trouble for him, and of course Erin also made sure we had a perfect evening. Thank you so much both of...you. When you both came out singing happy birthday to os with the little chocolate bite and a plate with happy birthday written in chocolate was so lovely. Also thanks to the chefs for our amazing food. We all had an amazing evening.More

Went with my husband 4/11/23 for our wedding anniversary. Staff are always very welcoming and friendly, even giving us the recipe for my cocktail! Our table was tucked up in the corner which in most places would be a Bad Thing, but not here -...we got incredible views over the valley and watched what felt like our own private firework displays. The food was heavenly. Game terrine was packed full of flavour and the haddock goujons were melt-in-the-mouth. I had the flat iron steak and hubby had the beef pie for our mains and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Steak was cooked perfectly and came with a really fragrant peppercorn sauce. Pastry on the pie was perfection and it packed a real punch of flavour. We didn’t have room for puddings (we’re light weights!) But I’ve had the sticky toffee pudding before and it’s to die for 😊 All the way through our meal the staff were attentive without being intrusive. We’ve been before by ourselves and with friends, and we’ll go back again, having never had a bad experience.More

Dogs are usually allowed in the indoor bar area and you can eat there. Just double check as it's getting busy for Christmas
