We contacted the duckworth arms at late notice to try and book a table for my daughters birthday. They were more than accommodating, allocating us a table outside so her chosen friends could come and still respect social distancing. The service was amazing, timely and personable. They went above and beyond by acknowledging my daughters birthday with a hand written card and “happy birthday” sung whilst bringing her her desert with a candle in it, all off their own back.
The food was beautiful, fresh, hot and again served in a really timely manner.
The environment they have created is beautiful with an extensive outdoor area which welcomes and has provisions for dogs.
I cannot thank the team there enough for enabling me to give my daughter a perfect end to her day.
Highly recommended on all counts!!

Called in a few times over Christmas and into January, very warm welcome everytime, food very good and generous portions, quick service even when busy. Plum pudding Christmas ale a real bonus in December. Booked again this weekend, really looking forwards to it, great friendly pub, great food and well behaved dogs encouraged. What is there not to like??

We were so impressed with the Duckworth Arms last night. We’d tried to book somewhere for a 15th Birthday that allowed us to keep to the Local lockdown rules and really struggled. The Duckworth came through for us and gave us our own outside seating area that allowed us to socially distance and comply with the rules while still celebrate properly. Staff went above and beyond for us, answering questions from the teenagers patiently and being so helpful and kind. The food was hot, fresh and just amazing and the service was spot on. Honestly the manager Jack and the assistant Vera who looked after us couldn’t have done any more to make our night special. They even gave the birthday girl a card and put a candle on her desert and brought it out without any of us asking or requesting. Truly above and beyond. Thank you Duckworth Arms for a truly memorable evening on one of our first meals out after lockdown. A special occasion was made even more so by your kindness and by the fact we all felt safe. We will certainly be back again.

We only visited because The Fisherman’s Retreat nearby was closed, I’m glad it was because we had a fantastic lunch. Firstly it was shortly after lockdown was lifted and Covid 19 precautions were in place, so it wasn’t a normal walk in off the street pub experience, however every member of staff treated us like our custom was valued. We only intended to stay for a drink but felt hungry so decided to dine. Our change of mind was not considered to be a problem, we were given paper menus, we ordered steak ciabattas, they came with salad, fries and coleslaw and everything was top notch. The steak was melt in your mouth quality. All in all it was a remarkably pleasant experience, which we will repeat. The San Miguel price was a bit steep but it didn’t spoil the experience. We will be back.

The staff here impressed right from the start, they we really helpful when making a booking and then really warm and welcoming when we arrived. The covid secure setting felt very safe and we felt appropriately distanced at all times. Service was excellent, all the staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. The food was absolutely excellent. There’s a brilliant range of dishes and they were really accommodating with the children’s menu. We will definitely be back and highly recommend a visit.

Had a lovely 2 course lunch with drinks here today. The food was excellent value for money at £12.95 for two courses, had a prawn cocktail with lots of prawns and a small tasty steak. The onion soup was delicious as was the cheese and onion pie. However the chips were undercooked and some were still raw in the middle( very disappointing) The staff were run off their feet but still managed to be friendly and polite. Will definitely be visiting again but will ask for skinny fries I think!!

Hi Janet,
Thank you for the review, we have had a few issues with our supplier with the quality of the chips we have been given, hopefully this will be resolved for the next time you visit,
hope to see you again soon.

Made a booking online everything ok so this got the place the one star after that it all went down hill. Waiting outside behind people who hadn’t booked a simple has anybody pre booked would of sorted it but oh no didn’t want to know just got a sorry will be with you in a minute (this was 10 minutes) went in shown to seat without a can you sanitise your hands at this station please (nothing) thought oh there are lots of empty tables should get served quickly. Ordered drinks straight away great so I thought but 20 minutes later it came. Ordered food after a second choice as they had run out of fish waited again food came but the frozen chips had defrosted but were not cooked the waitress said I will get you some more do you want skinny chips instead to which I replied I’m not bothered as long as there cooked. The chips came back just as I was chewing my last piece of gammon she put them on the table and said enjoy. Enjoy with what we had finished our meal. We asked for the bill she brought the payment reader and before we new it the payment had gone we said did you not deduct anything for the chips and she just said you should of asked it’s to late now and walked away. So did we and we won’t be back. Now I know why it was empty.

We arrived at 5pm on a Saturday, as a walk in. The majority of tables were empty but we were seated in the bar, we left at 6:30 and the restaurant tables were all still empty. We were king of forgotten about sitting in the bar, it took 10 minutes after seating to take a drinks order then we had empty starter plates on our table for 20 minutes after we’d finished with them. The food was ok, nothing special like the pricing would suggest! Our daughters meal was fine, nothing special and my husbands steak was good. I had the lamb shank and it just looked like a car crash, there was only meat on one side of the bone and the plate was swimming in gravy, all the veg was floating about and I’m not sure where the chef gets his ideas from but picked onions in gravy with lamb doesn’t work. Not the best of evenings for the prices paid. A note to the restaurant, maybe they could buy new plates the ones they are serving on are the same as my Nan had in the 80s

The first time I have visited since reopening and the menu has changed and even the landlord too.
A very warm welcome was given to us by Jack the new landlord we saw the old faces of Julie and Rihanan along with new members of the team too.
The new menu was worth the wait. I had the smoked Salmon, chicken ceaser salad and cherry and chocolate cheesecake and it was all fabulous, the others who I was with said their food was fantastic too. Well done to all the team at the Duckworth Arms as all social distancing and sanitiser stations were in place and I felt very safe entering and dining there, a one way system through the pub was also in place well done to all exam members we will return wry soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After being very impressed with our weekday lunch outing we decided to come back and try the Sunday Roast. Not only were we offered the Sunday Roast menu but we were also offered the main menu. The regular Sunday roast was delicious and plenty big enough. We’ve visited at lunch, dinner and sundays now and always find there is a good choice of food to choose from. I find it hard to believe anyone would struggle to find something they like on the menu :)

Been here for lunch today as a couple and grandson, very poor food and service. We decided to try light lunch menu, 2x course for £12.95. Had prawn cocktail starter, prawns freezing cold, defrosted improperly so still defrosting in the dish hence all sauce was at the bottom of the dish, no taste in the prawns what so ever, had mushrooms in stilton sauce, bearly warm, not a sign of stilton in the sauce, had portion onion rings which were the best part of the meal, they were lovely. Kids meal was ok. Hubby had steak chips, pepper sause, was awfull, aske for rare steak which came med, and was as tuff as shoe leather, i had wexford chicken which was ok but again supposed to be stilton sauce but tasted very bland. Hubby left full meal, we were only asked if everything was OK when they noticed i had finished and agreed the steak was over cooked. Very disappointing concidering this place has good reveiws on trip advisor. Wont be going again.

Haven’t visited this pub for a number of years but went for Sunday Linch with Friends last week. Some of us had the Turkey Roast and some the Beef, both dishes were delicious and fantastic value. Best Sunday Lunch in a Pub for several years, everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Can’t find anything to fault, and that’s almost a first for me.

We really enjoyed our visit, we hadn’t booked and they found us a table at the front. We were the only people in that area so expected to be forgotten but the service was impeccable. They treated our dog like royalty, checked on us endlessly for drinks, the food came quickly and was delicious.
With one veggie and one meat eater the range on the menu was great with lots of veggie options. We chose a burger each and had halloumi fries to start which were soooo nice! The hot chocolate was delicious too and the cold drinks had a great serve with lots of ice and a straw in nice glass wear.
Thanks for looking after us so well and for working so hard with the restrictions in place.
I’d suggest booking if you want a garden table but we were happy at the front.
The staff member that looked after us was so kind and attentive, she was a younger blonde girl and super professional!

This is our second visit here. We originally came for the battered Ale cod and chips. To our delight we were in time for the light lunch special menu.
Julie and her team could not be more accommodating. Julie advised the special menu was not only good value but the portion sizes were not at all compromised.
Even with me changing my mind on the main course, they served with a smile and had a nothing is too much trouble attitude.
The panoramic views from the South facing beer garden
was such a relaxing Thursday afternoon that another visit on a sunny afternoon would not go amiss anytime soon.
