Always good to stop here if visiting Arundel close by or out for a walk or a cycle on the South Downs. Excellent choice of food and drinks. Hospitable towards dog walkers , plenty of room outside as well as in. A great place on...More

Plenty of choice for lunch at the George with a menu that is changed pretty often - according to staff. We were a good sized party but the staff were efficient and everyone had a reasonable choice. Some found the food promised more than it...More

I can't find a positive about the George but the village is lovely and so was the weather. The rudest staff I have encountered in many a year. The food was lacking in all departments, and cold..

As always we visited The George at Burpham and had a magnificent meal. The Roasts are always a good bet but we do like the fish too. This time we had the Roast (Delicious). I am a "starter" fan and my husband "dessert" and both...More

After not dining at The George for quite some time I was worried that it would not be as good as it once was, especially after recent reviews being a bit mixed. Well, quite frankly, I’m not sure whether the negative reviews visited the same...More

I really hope that our experience on our last visit to The George was just a blip as we have been regular diners here and consider it a great asset to the area as well as a brilliant effort in saving the village pub. On...More

Was passing through Arundle when saw a sign for The George, 2 miles. Must have been country miles as a lot further than that. Dog friendly, but alas, no biscuits. Haddock and Chips, that the wife had, went down very well. My Chicken and Leek...More

We share your disappointment. This does not meet the high standards we set for ourselves & understandably is not in keeping with the positive impression of the pub you very generously acknowledge in your review. Please therefore accept our apologies and I hope you will...More

Thank you for squeezing the 4 of us in on what was an extremely busy Thursday evening. Service was completely understandably slightly slower than normal due to everyone arriving early evening. The fish and chips was absolutely stunning and I note how fantastic it was...More

Sadly we do not have a gluten free menu. Currently we serve gluten free bread & a number of gluten free puddings but are not set up to meet the gluten free requirements your wife needs.

Description
This unique 17th century Inn houses a wonderful British restaurant and pub. You'll find it at the heart of the delightful Sussex village of Burpham, just 4 km from historic Arundel, surrounded by the glorious South Downs National Park. The menus are classic “best of British” food with a modern twist. Everything is home cooked with the freshest seasonal ingredients, locally sourced where possible. That means the specials menu changes all the time, so your tastebuds will always be delighted. Open for lunch 12-2 or 12-3 weekends, and from 6pm for dinner. Great wine menu and local Real Ale. This is a very family friendly place; well-behaved dogs are welcome to sit under the table in the pub area whilst you dine. Groups, weddings and private parties love it here and come back year after year. Bookings are recommended especially for Sunday lunch as it's always very busy.
