The Bear Inn

Location and contact

The Bear is a 17th Century coaching inn that reflects Wiveliscombe's heritage. The Bear is a traditional English pub where the atmosphere is friendly and convivial, where young and old and families mix. Dogs on leads are welcome in the pub and outside patio areas. We serve many different real ales throughout the year to compliment our food and specials menu, which changes regularly to reflect the changing seasons. We have a newly refurbished dining room away from the main bar area and a large garden to the rear of the pub with lots of tables and seating and a childrens play area.

We were on holiday in Wiveliscomb and decided to try this pub whilst there and we weren't disappointed! We happened to go on a Wednesday night which turned out to be their steak night. The best steak my husband and I have had in years!...More

We came in on a Monday night and had a fine evening. The food was well cooked and plentiful! Even the small portion option was a challenge. Highly rated the home made tartar sauce. Will definitely come back.

Thank you to Millie Jon and all the staff for the great effort they made for my dads 80th and for looking after all our family. Meals were great and even breakfast the next morning was wonderful. Couldn’t wish for better. 👏👏👏💖💖

Visited this very 'blokey' pub twice because my husband loved the do it yourself pizza. A bit noisy and definitely heavy on the male customers, but obvious popular even on a Sunday afternoon.
