We came on on Saturday for lunch, it was busy and we were informed straight away that there was a wait for food, we decided that we were there so we would wait. It seems that more staff is needed during their busy periods as the waitresses were doing a fantastic job but they were so busy, some other customers seems a little disgruntled but we were told there would be a wait for food and it was easy to see there wasn't enough staff working the floor. When the food arrived it was great and the waitress apologised again for the delay. While we enjoyed our visit and will go back maybe the management could look at the staffing levels :)

We are regulars at YOLO mainly for coffees in a morning but once a week for lunch or dinner. Service is always so pleasant but we appreciate there can be delays especially when it's "eat out to help out". Having said that we think it's much better than other venues we've tried in Ponteland. Covid regulations are strictly adhered to re access, track and trace details and social distancing. Not always the case in other local establishments. The menu is limited as the norm these days but we have enjoyed everything we've tried. We will continue to visit.

Called in for breakfast and the menu clearly states that unlimited filter coffee is included in the price. We were not offered this and instead were given Americano and charged for it. I’m feeling somewhat robbed and disappointed at this. On the whole the breakfast was ok but I don’t think the toast was freshly made as it was extremely hard and cold. I feel bad writing this honest review but the management need to be aware to stop this happening to others and to make improvement. On a more positive note, the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Visited here for a breakfast and a cocktail and couldn’t have been any more disappointed ! When we went in we were given a table and left for so long we had to ask for a menu and a drink , a person took our contact details for track and trace then we saw no one els for 15-20 mins , we ordered food and drinks then another person came to ask for our track and trace information , at first I assumed they may have had a sick call and were short staffed but counted 3-4 front of house staff and was left to conclude they were just unorganised . The table next to use had two women who had been waiting for their food since 10 o’clock and it was now 11.30 , they were told their order had been misplaced . Our food arrived before the drinks , we were never offered a second drink despite wanting one . All in all for such a beautifully presented restaurant it was such a disappointment , next time I will try the badger or jans cafe

Met my friends here for a birthday meal, place was quiet there was about 6 tables in, half of which had already eaten. There were notices everywhere saying there was a 90 min wait for food meaning we wouldn’t get our food til 10pm. Literally cannot understand that when there were about 3 tables of 2 waiting to be served. Couple next to us had waited over an hour. Two chefs came out the kitchen so it’s not like they were understaffed. This place seriously needs a new team in to sort the place out because that is a total joke. Went over the road to fratellis and got sat down and served food in under 20 mins. Would never go back now.

I regularly visit YOLO Ponteland with my husband. There is always a long wait on food and there is rarely more than 2 members of staff on the bar. All of the staff are lovely, however there is not enough of them. I think there should be more staff covering weekdays and mornings. There is always enough staff on Friday and Saturday evenings, but there is never enough on a morning. Besides that, I would give the staff 5 stars, however the manager needs to look at hiring a lot more. During my visit on Thursday evening, I, amongst other customers, heard a lot of shouting and the occasional profanity coming from the kitchen, when discussing this with other customers, they all shared my disgust. I find this rather unprofessional and if the kitchen staff cannot keep up with the deal I think the YOLO group need to relook at the deal because it is not enjoyable sat in a restaurant being able to hear the kitchen staff shouting and swearing in the kitchen. Overall, I don’t think I’ll be returning on a Thursday as it is clearly too busy for the kitchen to handle.

My friends and I visited here for a catch up after lockdown and had such a disappointing experience. Firstly after the drink arrived the waitress came over with the card machine and asked us to pay for them, we thought this was maybe a mistake and explained that we were planning to have food so asked if we could pay at the end but were told that this was the new policy and we had to ‘pay as we go’. We found this slightly odd but went with it then proceeded to order our food. My partner had a chicken teriyaki which arrived with what must be microwave rice - I think that’s really lazy, a restaurant should be able to make plain rice from scratch surely? I had a Caesar salad but asked for oil rather than the Caesar dressing but it arrived with a vinaigrette from a bottle which was honestly disgusting. On top of this the chicken was dry as a bone and the croutons were so hard I couldn’t even eat them. About halfway through us all eating the waitress came over to ask us to pay for our food, we asked if we could finish eating before paying as we were literally in the middle of eating with our mouths full. We were told no we couldn’t.... I then explained that I was potentially going to have a dessert as part of the two courses for £11.95 deal but wouldn’t know if I wanted anything more to eat until I had finished my main.(This would have affected how much I was going to pay) The waitress looked really flustered and said she’d have to check with her manager if I was allowed to pay at the end of my main rather than in the middle so I just told her is fine I’ll just pay for what I had. Overall the whole experience made us feel rushed out and unwelcome and it actually meant that I spent less money with them than I might have which makes zero business sense!

Still awful food. I’ve tried. And tried but that was my last try. Never again. Every meal was a disgrace, should have realised when I seen lots of half eaten meals going back from other tables. To be fair they refunded the fish and chip cost as it was pretty inedible. Such a shame as the venue itself is very nice. Visited mambos around the corner the day before, in a completely different league.

Totally disappointed. Have been before and loved it and just moved to Ponteland so was excited to make this a regular venue. Turned up at 8pm for food with friends and there were notices all over the bar saying there was a 90min wait for food and how busy they are on a Thursday. There were literally 6 tables occupied when we arrived and half of them already had food. We thought the posters must have been from earlier so asked was the food wait still 90mins? Got barked at ‘yes’ by the barmaid. Touchy subject? Don’t know why? Are the staff stressed out about the offer they run? Maybe turn it off then? Anyway we sat and had a drink and once everyone had been served we asked was the wait for food over yet. No! Still 90mins? Why? I just can’t understand. Were they getting the YOLO in town to cook then driving it over? Two chefs came out on the bar 5mins later chatting to the bar staff. Just really confused and unfortunately I won’t be back. I’ll go to Fratellis or the new Mambos instead.

I was in last night for a few drinks with my daughter, there were about 4 members of staff on which worked perfectly. All staff were wearing their masks....... At first everything looked brilliant, the girls were cleaning everything regularly and wearing their masks; however the gentlemen working were not wearing their masks correctly. Making and delivering food and drinks with their masks only covering their mouths and not their noses. On more than one occasion, the gentleman behind the bar used his fingers to put fruit in the drinks he was making, unsure if this is something YOLO allow? If so, you need to give the staff tweezers as this put me off my drink, so I wasted £8 on a drink. Apart from this, attitudes were great, very polite members of staff, helpful and kind. Cannot fault YOLO on the attitudes of their staff, but they may need a helping hand putting on their face mask, as they seemed confused as to what the mask should cover.

After a stressful week at work my daughter and I decided to treat ourselves to breakfast out. After arriving at 10.50 we found a table and ordered and paid for our breakfast. After sitting waiting for 35 minutes without even a coffee being served we reminded the waiter we hadn’t been served a coffee yet. We were told it was “ in the pipeline”. 5 minutes later we we served an acceptable breakfast which we ate with difficulty as my mouth was bone dry! After finishing breakfast and now desperate for a drink 2 coffees were brought to our table but weren’t what we ordered. When we told the waiter they weren’t ours and a 50 minute wait for a coffee was unexceptionable and turned his back and walked away without any explanation. We put on our coats and left as i knew I had a bottle of water in my car. Never ever had this happen to me in years of eating out usually about 3 a week. Definitely wouldn’t go near this dreadful place again. Rude staff member and extremely poor service.

I don’t even know where to begin with the shocking service we had today. To begin with we ordered drinks which we waited 50 minutes for when the look on the girls face told us she had forgot them. When the drinks were finally served my drink was a sweet not a dry rose. When asked if I could get this changed to a dry the girl said if you have already paid for it we can’t change it which I was completely baffled by. Also forgetting the water for the second time that we had asked for it. Our side came out with no mains in sight for my friends main to turn up ten minutes later with no sign of mine. When asked where mine was they had forgot to put it through even though it was part of the 2 course deal and told I would have to wait another hour for it which at this point we were losing patience. My friends turned up with skinny chips on instead of chunky. With salad in the wrap she didn’t ask for. My main turned up 15 minutes later. The girl rushed off before I could ask for my water again and we wanted sauce. When we finally got her attention the girl came back and slammed the sauce on the table which made the table next to us make a comment about it for her to do the same to them. I finally received my water with the glass completely dirty covered in bits. When my main finally turned up which clearly had been rushed to put on a plate as the chips weren’t cooked and it was stoned cold which I just left.and I couldn’t eat with my friend as they came and completely different times. The attitude of the girl serving us was shocking with snarky replies when asking what was happeningM. The manager Matthew I could see was having a bad day with it all and couldn’t have been more apologetic or polite. When he was giving us a full refund alongside several other tables. I turned to see the girl serving us laughing behind the bar towards us and sort of hid when realised I had caught her laughing. At the beginning of the meal I asked if yourselves did takeaway so I could take a pizza home for my partner. The girl said she would check and never came back with an answer. I asked again as I thought they might be rushed off there feet but again no answer game back. I’ve never had such a bad experience in my life and to be laughed at and have such an attitude back for it all has been disgraceful.

I booked a booth online for nine people and paid a hefty deposit of £75 . It received my confirmation email but did ring YOLO the day before my arrival to double check the booking was still ok , the member of staff said she couldn’t help but yes, everything will be fine . We arrived to find that the staff could not find my booking , we waited over half a hour for our first round of drinks to be served to then be told our booking had not been sent through from head offices and the chef was not happy . We waited another half hour to then find that the chef was so disgruntled by our appearance that he had walked off shift so we could not have food but we could stay for drinks once they could clear a booth for us . YOLO was not busy yet the service and waiting time for drinks was completely unacceptable. Ebony the deputy manageress could not apologise enough and seemed embarrassed by the whole situation giving us a free round of drinks . Complete disappointment!

For our first course we ordered buffalo wings but these turned out to be chicken goujons which looked as if they had been bought in. We then waited a total of 90 minutes for our main course which was a very mediocre steak. We were told the wait was because they were busy but the place was less than one third full. To be fair they did offer our money back when we said we could wait no longer but at that point (after 90 minutes) the food was finally being plated.

We don't actually have buffalo wings on our menu but do have Southern-Fried Buffalo Chicken which is Southern -Fried chicken smothered in a buffalo sauce and served with a pot of blue cheese sauce. Prior to our visit had heard great things. Stylish design and excellent menu. The food was lovely however was let down by the service. We were asked prior to ordering food if we would like starters and mains to come separate. However, main arrived before starter and starter arrived mid-way through eating the main and was then cold by the time we got round to eating. When raising this to the waitress she replied that we had chosen this order and nothing she could do. A further meal then arrived without an ordered extra. We were informed that this was due to an error by the waitress and we would have to pay additional £1.35 for the mistake made by the venue. The food was lovely but we felt the service from initially being served at the bar to the meal being served let down our experience and as a result we only stayed for the one drink. We had planned to spend the afternoon here due to great reviews but unfortunately due to the experience we did not.
