Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the best pubs in Hertfordshire- great selection of draught beers and very high standard of food, very much worth the price. Great little log fire always roaring, to top it all off.

Fantastic meal and service. All our meals were cooked to perfection. There were eight of us. We had a variety of starters and main courses. Some of our party had a dessert. Everything arrived in a timely manner and the food was well presented and...plentiful. The dining room has lovely furnishings. Can highly recommend this establishment.More

The day before we ate at The Cricketers we had eaten at a posh restaurant in Bath. The meal and service at the Cricketers was twice as good and half the price. Food was excellent. Calamari is among the best in the area and excellent...pie. Topped up with an excellent range of beer and well looked after by friendly team. Top banana.More

We popped into The Cricketers this afternoon for a couple of drinks and a spot of lunch - we had the steak sandwich and chips which was really good - and we have to single out the lovely girl serving behind the bar, she was...very friendly and attentive with a great sense of humour - excellent!!!More

I pop in here about once a month for an early evening pint and, often, a bite to eat. Service is super and food never disappoints. Love the burger especially. Dog friendly in front bar and outside, where the seating is comfortable and plentiful. Good...range of beers 👍🏼More

We wanted a light bite, so we all chose from their BAR Snacks Menu having first quizzed the very helpful member of staff as to how big the portions were! 3 of us chose fish and chips while the 4th member of our party had...squid with a side potion of fries. The food was delicious, hot and well presented. 2 of us decided to have a dessert, but what a shame that there was no choice in the sizes of the desserts, which were colossal, and although delicious, we would much preferred to have been able to choose smaller portions with perhaps a coffee or tea as part of the deal.More

Just had a wonderful Sunday lunch in a pod. We’re locals so we’ve been dozens of times. I don’t know how they manage it but the food and service is consistently good. We’re lucky to have this perfect gastropub in our village.

Been going to this pub for 10 years without a disability blue badge! As soon as I arrived I was unwelcome and bullied for being disabled for parking on a double yellow line that I’m authorised to do so, then I was picked on for...having a diesel car instead of an electric car after defending my disability I was told that my attitude wasn’t welcome after explaining why I’m disabled I was asked to prove my disability by the owner of the pub I asked to be left alone to finish my pint in peace and leave without feeling bullied and intimidated by customers, staff and the owner of this business. I’m gay too so obviously homophobic I suggest avoiding this business and go somewhere else! As a market research interviewer (mystery shopper) I’m Disgusted at the attitude, discrimination and homophobia at the cricketers at Redbourn the owner of this business should be ashamed of himself He shouldn’t be running a pub his Hospitality & customer service are shocking to say the least and he needs retraining to be customer focused. I won’t be recommending I’ll be telling everyone how shallow they are to pick on a gay disabled manMore

Lovely location but oh my goodness what a disappointment. Expensive to say the least and my bar snack was rubbish . Better sandwich from the co op. Estrella £6.40 a pint BLT on thin ( very thin) white bread but it was toasted so presumably...stale white bread bought from the local shop. Just ordinary thin sliced bread with a small leaf salad and nachos not crisps. Very poor and at £7.95 I could have got a better sandwich from the co op. I’ve had Sunday lunch here and it was quite good albeit very pricey but this was nothing short of rubbish. If you want to toast the bread then put it on the menu or get some proper bread! Thin white is not good. The bar person was apologetic but that was that. Strange placeMore

Fab Sunday lunch today for a group of 6 friends. Between us we had all meats on offer. Lamb, Pork and Beef. Meat was tender and delicious. Crackling, Yorkshire’s and veg all lovely. Served Hot and the roast potatoes perfect. Service from Lewis and the...girls excellent as always. Friendly, efficient and unobtrusive . Deserts made special by the spun sugar decorations served with them. Thank you Cricks. Be back asapMore

The owner of this pub/restaurant couldn’t have been more helpful in accommodating us on 27/12. It was my husband’s 80th birthday. We had been let down at the last minute by another pub nearby. We were given one of the lovely outdoor pods for the...occasion. Everything was beautifully set up. It was heated, had the facility to play our own music and a bell for service from the staff, which was both quick and efficient. The food was both well presented and cooked to perfection. We couldn’t have asked for more! A huge thank you to all the staff who helped to make my husband’s surprise lunch so enjoyable. You certainly saved the day, which was a huge relief to us all.More
