Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited during The Open mid July 2023 and ate from the special Golfers’ 2 course menu. I had the pork dish while my husband had the slow roasted lamb. Both were beautifully presented as well as delicious and served with seasonal vegetables cooked to...perfection. Homemade bread and butter pudding and baked Alaska followed; both were the best we’ve ever tasted! We were told that this place is all about the food and indeed, the food wouldn’t have been out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. The service did not disappoint either. Julian and Jackie are a fab team. Yes, the decor/ambiance could maybe do with a tweak or two but this place is a hidden gem on The Wirral and great value for money.More

Fancied somewhere different and Julians had good reviews so we tripped over from Liverpool. Restaurant was bright and airy with a kind welcome on arrival. I had the Lamb and Wife had Rib Eye, both where cooked perfectly, served with selection of vegetables and all...arrived hot, which is always welcome. Wife had some dietary issues which where accommodated without issue. Definitely recommend.More

Our second time of visiting Julian’s and we weren’t disappointed, after returning from holiday we decided to end the week by taking our friends to sample Julian’s excellent cooking. Jackie is an amazing host, always a friendly welcome and nothing is to much trouble. Our...choice of food was excellent, the goats cheese tart was amazing as was the pork and steaks that we chose with the freshly prepared vegetables and to finish it off we couldn’t resist the Baked Alaska which was delicious. Thank you Julian and Jackie for making the evening so enjoyable, we will definitely be back.More

We love Julian’s . The food is fantastic and Jackie always looks after us.. Tonight I stupidly ordered salmon by accident in a meal and I’m allergic to salmon .. Julian and Jackie were so attentive and were prepared to replace my meal. But I...knew with Julian’s expert cooking I would come to no harm.and I identified it quickly in the meal.. Thank you Julian and Jackie I’m fine and looking forward to our next booking with you. ❤️More

The last time we went to Julian's was in 2005 and on our return we weren't disappointed - the quality of the food and service is as stellar as we remembered it to be. I had the duck confit (perfectly cooked) and the salt and...pepper squid which was incredibly good. Impeccable meal.More

The food. Northern African soup slightly spicy. Really nice soup Julian, and excellent dosage of chilly to go with most palates. All ingredients felt crisp fresh, the signature of someone that cares about food. Rib eye steak. Excellent piece of meat served with potatoes, broccoli,...cauliflower, mushrooms, carrots and a very balanced peppercorn sauce. Wine. A great choice of Malbec. A pleasure to the palate. Why is it so difficult to find places like Julian where the food is what it should be, a simple but not easy honoring of our most important traditions? Julian, thank you for your life dedication to the tradition of food and getting people together around it. Thank you for sharing your recipes !More

Fine dining at reasonable prices. Best restaurant in Wirral and I’ve tried them all. Most restaurants these days seem to provide glorified pub food so it was pleasant to eat a really good quality meal. Small enough to have an intimate and cozy atmosphere. The...Baked Alaska dessert was worthy of special comment.More

A beautiful meal at Julian's this evening. This is the first time we've been out since March but we needn't have worried as we felt very safe, everything was well thought out without detracting from the lovely atmosphere at this pretty restaurant. The welcome is...warm and the service is very efficient. The food was excellent particularly the lamb and the pork medallions and we left planning our next visit. Thank you both so much.More

Had a take away meal tonight as in the middle of Coronavirus Pandemic. Very efficient system for ordering and paying. Food was ready exactly on time. It was delicious and both my husband and I enjoyed our meal very much. As we live about 10...miles away from Julians we ate our meal sitting in the car on Meols Prom, so we had the added pleasure of a sea view while we ate.More

If you haven't tried the takeaway menu that Julian is offering I recommend you do so. Obviously not the feel and wonderful setting that is offered in the restaurant itself however, the food is from the menu and maybe familiar. It does change so do...check. Very easy to order and payment is just as easy. Taking in the smoked salmon starter and followed by chicken supreme was a joy. You can only get good food from those that offer it, in these times it is a wonderful boost. Thank you so much Jackie and Julian.More

Visited for my wife's birthday so wanted something a bit special but not "over-the top". Booked by telephone three days before and felt valued from the first contact. Welcomed as we walked through the door and offered a choice of tables. Only two other tables...occupied (7pm on a Saturday) although other people came in later. Offered drinks straight away and menus; given time to decide what we wanted and we both chose from the two course menu which had a good range of options for both starters and mains. I chose a haddock Quennelle followed by white fish and my wife had the duck pate followed by lamb. Chose the house white (a very palatable pinot) The starters were good portions and very tasty. The main courses came with a seperate selection of vegeatables which were cooked to perfection and there was just the right amount for the two of us. Throughout the meal the waitress was attentive, but not obtrusive, and we were given time to enjoy the food which was excellent. We declined desserts and coffee having eaten enough for our appetites. Julian's is a small but highly professional restaurant which offers a very personal and welcoming service. It has a quiet and comfortable atmosphere which suits our own preferences and feels clean with good attention to detail. We will certainly go back again.More
