Lovely food at restaurant did not come out straight away could tell freshly cooked. Chicken and lamb very tender. Sag aloo lovely and generous serving of rice with lovely naans thin and slightly crispy as opposed to doughy which is not my preference. Have had several take away an and these to date have also been great. Please keep the standard up. We have left our local takeaway as their chicken was overcooked and hard.

I went for dinner with some friends, and we all enjoyed the food and drinks. The service was attentive and friendly and the ambience was great. A nice little touch was a complimentary sorbet served between the starter and main courses to cleanse the palate. The food portions were generous, satisfying and generally good value for money when using special offers. I would recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic food and service (throughout (thank you for being so attentive and helpful Puran). We had a wonderful spread of freshly cooked and delishous dishes,(large portions too!) With our eyes bigger than our bellies they kindly doggy bagged what we couldn't manage. Wish we lived closer as we would certainly make this our regular place. Thank you Amchur for a very memorable birthday meal.

Having read all the glowing reviews we were anxious to see what all the hype was about. They staff were lovely, attentive & friendly and the service was quick. The chefs came out of the kitchen to mingle with the diners & to check everything was O.K - and there was a free palate cleanser between the starter & main course - both of which were nice touches. However the quality of the food didn't quite match the obvious "high end" impression that was being attempted - the portions were very generous but the lamb chops were seemingly not from any lamb (by definition up to one year old) that we know of but more likely hogget or mutton as they were quite tough and didn't really taste of lamb. Also everything was absolutely smothered in sauces which, though quite tasty, were just overpowering. The vegetable side dishes were disappointing exactly for this reason and the vegetables themselves, buried in the sauces, tasted old.
We'll try again on another occasion but, for the present, will only give Amchur a 3 star rating.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here after purchasing a voucher for a three course dinner. The range of choices was one of the largest I have seen. The Nepalese dishes made it particularly interesting and we chose them having signature Amchur dishes for mains. A lovely surprise was a mango sorbet palate cleanser between the first two courses. We added poppadoms and chutneys to the meal and rice was also additional to the voucher cost. The service was charming and the only improvement we thought could be made would be an indication of how hot each dish was. I had a mouth burning starter which I wouldn’t have chosen if I had known. A lovely evening!

It was an excellent experience for us we were a group of 6 people right from the start till the end. The Nepalese dishes were full of flavours and very good portions. The service was also very attentive and genuine the 3 course voucher was good value for money.

Nice place to eat and easy to find. We were a party of four friends.
We ordered poppadoms to start. Two each. We were given one small tray with three containers comprising of mint sauce, mango chutney and onions. Certainly not enough for the amount we had ordered. We had to ask and pay for more.
Our main meals were delicious but could have been warmer. The onion bhajis and sago allo which accompanied our main meals were good.
Service was reasonable but could have been more attentive considering it was not particularly busy.
They need to review the quantity they offer as accompliments to the poppadoms which rather spoiled our experience at this restaurant

We booked Amchur as a last minute decision based on the reviews here. And I’m so glad we did!
We were greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant and shown to our table. We quizzed the waiter as to what dishes we should order as we wanted to try something different. I went for the laal Maas (pretty hot!) and my wife chose the Amchur Himalayan chicken curry, along with some rice and a bread.
We didn’t have to wait too long for our food to be brought to our table. The food was absolutely delicious! Piping hot and so very tasty.
I’d definitely recommend Amchur for the food and the very polite waiter, who continually checked on us throughout our time at the table.
The prices are reasonable and there is no service charge (2 of us dined).
Tip: you cannot park directly outside the restaurant due to parking restrictions. The road behind the restaurant (Albany Road) does not have any restrictions and there were many places to park.

We have visited several times before in the last year, since the new owners took over, and Amchur has never failed to impress.
When my (very demanding and fussy) Indian Mother In Law was staying with us for 2 months we took her to numerous different Indian restaurants around Berkshire and London and Amchur was the only one she couldn't find fault with!
Today we popped in for a Thali lunch, which was authentic, delicious, well presented and good value.
We will be back again.

A great night out on our first visit to Amchur. Six of us enjoyed three courses from the extensive menu which included a very varied selection of dishes. It was difficult to select from the vast range but we did so with helpful guidance from the attentive and very knowledgeable staff. Among the highlights were Coila lamb as a starter, Chicken Nilgiri as a main and the carrot-based Gajar Ka Halwa dessert. All were served hot, were flavoursome and you could not fault the quantity. The mango sorbet between the first two courses was a nice touch. The overall cost was a fair price.
The restaurant was sparsely populated which detracted from the overall atmosphere. This was disappointing because it made you wonder if the restaruant was not frequented, but it didn't detract from the evening.
The restaurant and toilets were clean as was the exterior. You need to be aware that the restaurant has no parking but street parking is available close by.

Purchased a Travelzoo voucher for a meal. Emailed to book and received confirmation but no booking on the system when we arrived. Fortunately they had room.
The menu offers a good variety and even a dish with noddles which pleased my husband. Staff are attentive and thr chef came out to check all was ok. The tip starts at 15% which I find is steep. This is something that would stop me going back because the meal just gets too expensive.

We tried this tonight as part of an Groupon deal and it’s the best Indian/Nepalese we have ever had. We moved away from traditional dishes and tried things we’d never had before with excellent guidance from the waiter who patiently answered all our questions. The food is beautifully presented with generous portions, has so much flavour and the complimentary mango amuse bouche a welcome surprise. All the waiting staff are polite & friendly and we can’t wait to return.

My Partner and I went for a meal to kick off the celebrations for her 60th Birthday Year.
Amchur went the extra mile; not only with a warm welcome and absolutely amazing food, but with the little things that make Amchur stand out from the crowd.
We were lead to our specially prepared table with sprinkles of Happy Birthday decorations and personalised hand written card from the owners. ... thank you Parmila, thats a really nice touch!
The food and service was excellent and the meal was topped off with a beautifully presented home made pudding of warm 'Gajar ka Halwa' topped with ice-cream and candle!
The fuss made for my Partner was just perfect.
We'll definitely be returning again soon!

The staff are very attentive and caring.
Chef comes and take order and ask for taste to make it bespoke.
While we were waiting for food they brought us complimentary mango sorbet which was delicious.
Sisnu aloo was amazing
This was our first time and definitely coming back again.

I took my family on the occasion of my husband’s birthday. We are tested with a birthday card with a personal message from the CEO which definitely added that extra personal touch. Very impressed with the service, attention and the food was absolutely amazing. The service was to the point with constantly checking if we were ok or needed anything. Food was served piping hot and each and every dish was very flavoursome and different. We will definitely be going again. And please try the Biryani, it was by far the best I have had ever.
