Five of us went for a Saturday night dinner and had an excellent meal all round. We were sitting in the yurt at the back which had a bit of character and a nice ambiance. We had both mixed boards, (one of which included a...small bowl of Cullen Skink), good for sharing, something to please everyone. The venison main dish, which had a selection of venison presented in three different forms was very good as was the Kedgeree. Desserts, drinks and coffe all good. They even serve 0% Guinness.... Overall, excellent food and service.More
As always delicious food. Great burger and fantastic coley with venison salami and black pudding crumb. We have never been disappointed here. Food is always exceptional and a great price for such high end cooking.
This is a very welcoming place with attentive and helpful staff. The place is comfortable and the food is delicious.
First time visiting this wonderful place. It is truly dog friendly with every staff member fussing over our pup. Lunch was delicious and service was excellent
During a day trip to Loch Lomond to celebrate my wife's birthday, was looking for somewhere in the area for lunch. Checked Tripadvisor and the Old Mill drew our attention with rave reviews. We were not disappointed! Cosy wee place, which also allows dogs (much...appreciated by our black labrador 'MAC'). The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We had the mixed platter (as recommended by others) as a starter. I then had the halibut which literally melted in my mouth (I have to admit, my pet hate is chewy fish - which usually indicates overcooking, or pre-cooked). My wife had the rack of ribs which just fell off the bone. We would highly recommend the food here, and will definitely be back - maybe in the colder months to enjoy the open fire too.More
Decided to have Lunch here today on a drive from Balloch and we were not disappointed, excellent staff and great choice of food. Would recommend The Meat and Seafood platters,we will be back, and hopefully soon, I shall be recommending This lovely Restaurant to friends. Thank...You.More
Had a really lovely family lunch here today. Amazing burgers and fish platter- also great value. We sat out under the canopy in the beer garden, perfect for a hyperactive child and dog. Both servers were really lovely and friendly, sorry didnt catch names but...a special shout out to the girl who's first day it was. Later spoke to someone at Glengoyne distillery who started out waiting at the Old Mill and they were still raving about the burgers :-) A great meal, highly recommend.More
Their lunch time menu was very good simple in style but the quality of the food outshone well worth a visit lunch time or dinner ,the staff were friendly and helpful
The sun was splitting the sky on our visit and expected a busy location and a queue to be served. We sat outside and I wasn’t clear on do I go inside to place an order or do they come outside? Feedback for the staff....Food was great and we met a couple of fantastic staff. Paying the bill was uncomfortable. Assumption a card would be used however cash seemed to irritate the staff member. They also assumed a sizeable cash tip was offered based on their interpretation of a short interaction. Embarrassing. I will be back to have another experience as I think a few things were not in our favour on the day. The menu choice is brilliant and the outside atmosphere was lovely. I can see myself inside in November being very Roasty toasty. Give this place a try.More
Excellent food and goof customer service. I would recommend going here. Not wheelchair accessible. Carpark which was free
Roast Beef Dinner was the best I’ve eaten in years. Beef melted in your mouth and red cabbage, leeks, carrots, parsnips and roast potatoes all beautiful. 2 of us had the Sunday lunch and 2 the Venison Burger which also got the thumbs up. Sticky...Toffee Pudding & Brownie were excellent also. Thoroughly recommend.More
We had a fantastic meal at The Old Mill last night. We had mussels in cider; rack of venison; cranberry and lemon posset. Our friend had roast beetroot with blue murder; then Moroccan lamb. They were all delicious! Helped down with a shared bottle of...Merlot. A delight. Well done Alice, Mark and team. 👍More
Atmospheric pub restaurant. Interesting local and country ingredients, well cooked, good portions, friendly staff, reasonably priced.
We made an impromptu visit for a bar lunch having been there on two previous (pre-Covid) occasions with friends, when we had an excellent experience. We were impressed by being efficiently received by an energetic and friendly young girl. The ambience was all that one...would expect from a country hostelry with a welcoming warm open fire. Due to shortage of time we decided on a single course each. My wife had Shetland mussels, which, although small, were tasty and in a nicely flavoured sauce. My "large" portion of scallops was served in a "large" plate with a countable number of very small scallops, smaller than "queenies" minus roes. They were carefully distributed around the plate interspersed with small deposits of mayo. A centre block of potato had 3 small scallops on top and the chef had sprinkled some grains of black pudding on top. Disconcertingly, there were what appeared to be grains of black pudding sealed to the plate and left in situ. Altogether it was quite pretty but underwhelming. Particularly disappointing was the portion and size of what should have been the main ingredient i.e. scallops. What was not underwhelming was the cost of £26! As the late chef Paul Bocuse famously said "Too little on the plate, Too much on the bill!"More
