Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Welcoming staff, comfortable, great food. This place has become our new favourite pub for our annual visit to these parts. Looking forward to coming back next February - or sooner if we can!!

Ate a meal as a family if four with two dogs. We were put in the tipi attached to the restaurant which looked lovely but was absolutely freezing. We had to put our coats on mid meal, couldnt eat dessert because of the temperature and...left with freezing noses and toes. Awful experience to the end of our holiday.More

Very good location, ambience and friendly accommodating staff. We sat by the fire on New Year’s Day ordered a seafood platter for one and a meat platter, with a decent IPA and sparkling water. Both platters were good but we did notice that we both...left behind bread and crackers as there wasn’t enough food to mop that up with . This then made the platters and drinks quite expensive .More

Five of us went for a Saturday night dinner and had an excellent meal all round. We were sitting in the yurt at the back which had a bit of character and a nice ambiance. We had both mixed boards, (one of which included a...small bowl of Cullen Skink), good for sharing, something to please everyone. The venison main dish, which had a selection of venison presented in three different forms was very good as was the Kedgeree. Desserts, drinks and coffe all good. They even serve 0% Guinness.... Overall, excellent food and service.More

As always delicious food. Great burger and fantastic coley with venison salami and black pudding crumb. We have never been disappointed here. Food is always exceptional and a great price for such high end cooking.

During a day trip to Loch Lomond to celebrate my wife's birthday, was looking for somewhere in the area for lunch. Checked Tripadvisor and the Old Mill drew our attention with rave reviews. We were not disappointed! Cosy wee place, which also allows dogs (much...appreciated by our black labrador 'MAC'). The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We had the mixed platter (as recommended by others) as a starter. I then had the halibut which literally melted in my mouth (I have to admit, my pet hate is chewy fish - which usually indicates overcooking, or pre-cooked). My wife had the rack of ribs which just fell off the bone. We would highly recommend the food here, and will definitely be back - maybe in the colder months to enjoy the open fire too.More

Had a really lovely family lunch here today. Amazing burgers and fish platter- also great value. We sat out under the canopy in the beer garden, perfect for a hyperactive child and dog. Both servers were really lovely and friendly, sorry didnt catch names but...a special shout out to the girl who's first day it was. Later spoke to someone at Glengoyne distillery who started out waiting at the Old Mill and they were still raving about the burgers :-) A great meal, highly recommend.More

The sun was splitting the sky on our visit and expected a busy location and a queue to be served. We sat outside and I wasn’t clear on do I go inside to place an order or do they come outside? Feedback for the staff....Food was great and we met a couple of fantastic staff. Paying the bill was uncomfortable. Assumption a card would be used however cash seemed to irritate the staff member. They also assumed a sizeable cash tip was offered based on their interpretation of a short interaction. Embarrassing. I will be back to have another experience as I think a few things were not in our favour on the day. The menu choice is brilliant and the outside atmosphere was lovely. I can see myself inside in November being very Roasty toasty. Give this place a try.More
