Very disappointing. It used to be very nice but it has really gone downhill since our last visit. We couldn’t find the cheese in the cheese and chutney toasty, the Staffordshire oatcakes with bacon were tougher than shoe leather, the sausage sandwich was plain boring...and the whole meal took an age to come. Never again! We’ll bring our own picnic next time.More

Arrived late lunch time, around 2:40 and were greeted by a nice waitress. Seated quickly but from here everything went downhill. Thirty minutes later we received our food- the quiche was totally inedible- cheese and onion but had been covered in pesto to hide the...grey mush filling, the avocado in the sandwich was yellowed, the cucumber had been defrosted and hardly any cheese in the tuna melt. The falafel was nice, but not nice enough to redeem the rest of the food. Can’t rate the service because there was none. Such a shame when the gardens themselves are so lovely.More

Lovely place for tea/coffee/hot chocolate after a long walk around the gardens. Good outdoor seating. Order in the cafe and then wait for drinks to be delivered to your table.

Been here twice…very mixed reviews! The first time when I had sweet waffles it was great! The second time when I had savory pancakes, not so good. I add that they’re pancakes and certainly not crepes. I wish they’d say that! There’s a considerable difference...in taste and texture. Quite slow service, the place didn’t feel tremendously clean. So yes. Very mixed experiences and not sure I’ll rush back…More

Dropped in at the lakeside cafe around 2.30 where 2 young ladies with blonde hair seemed to think they were on the generation game and were having a cracking at working in an ice cream parlour. They were constantly giggling whilst attempting to serve a...queue that was competing with the length of hadrian's wall. They clearly didnt give a damn when they had us waiting nearly 25 minutes for 4 ice creams. The lady taking the order accepted payment but then we had to give the order again to the girl making them and she even got that wrong. I asked for sea salt and caramel and got vanilla. Has anyone seen a flat ice cream cuz this girl mastered it. She put it in the holder and laughed whilst she said sorry about that, her pal laughing with her. Shocking deplorable service and frankly they need the sack. There are people out there who actually want to work. I couldn't even be bothered to complain as they clearly didnt care. I looked up and other clusters were shaking there head. Trentham gardens you need to address the people you are contacting to deliver your refreshments. Seriously not good enough. Will not return.More

No umbrellas outside and 90% of tables are in FULL 32c sun !!!!! Can’t sit inside as there is no air conditioning!!!!! Apparently umbrellas are a safety issue !!!! How about sitting your diners in full scorching sun with children I’d say that’s a health...issue but clearly not important enough for on the owners to do something about it !!!!! Appalling!!!!!!!!!!!!More

Appalling and overpriced ‘cup of tea’. The last time we visited it was a pot of leafed, good quality tea. Today we had a paper cup with what can only be described as wishy washy dishwater tea which was killed by far too much milk....I personally don’t have milk but was never even asked if I wanted and yes I could have sent it back but please ask first to avoid this confusion and waste. Why still so expensive when there is clearly a price difference, paper cup and tea bag as opposed to teapot and tea leaves. Get your act together or you’ll be losing more customers not because of COVID but because of your complete and utter ignorance to your customers needs.More

Nice location, but such poor service and food. I had to remind the staff I had ordered a cider. I had to go inside to get a can, no glass offered. I asked the waitress for some mustard. She disappeared and completely forgot. I enquired...again and "oh yea, we don't have any". Staff training for these staff members is required. I had the ploughman's salad. A shop bought small greasy pork pie, cut into four. An egg, on a few leaves, tomatoes etc. The local Cheddleton Cheshire cheese crumbled over the salad was tasteless, (Perhaps the worst I have had). Altogether disappointing and bland. ...and pricey for the quality. I won't return after my experience and will advise others to avoid the cafe.More

Shockingly poor ploughmans. Swimming in oil. Pork pie??? No cheese or beetroot or pickle even when I asked. Waitress asked me to search plate for cheese. None there. Asked for manager. Small portions of cheese and beetroot brought to table when I asked for refund....Don’t bother…More
