Such a good selection of fresh fish. I had tuna and my wife the Fisherman's Platter - I'd go back just to have what she had! This is not a pretentious place - no fancy linens or decor. Just an honest and true place that I imagined all Cape Breton would be. I needed to charge up my phone and... More

If you are driving the Cabot trail, take a detour up to Neil's Harbour to eat at the Chowder House. We ordered the seafood platter for myself and my wife and it was more than enough food for the both of us. Beautiful setting right on the ocean next to the lighthouse.

Was driving the Cabot Trail with friends, and this was a pit stop on our way out of Meat Cove after camping there for the night. The food was as you'd expect on the Cabot Trail - good seafood to be found. The weather wasn't great while we were there, cool and raining, but it was still a nice waterfront... More

We were driving the Cabot Trail all in one day and stopped off here for lunch. Great food, quick service, good value, good atmosphere. Perfect stop for a break and something to eat.

The only place to dine in Neil's Harbor that I found was the Chowder House. Very unobtrusive sitting on edge of cliff over the ocean near a lighthouse. I went in for the chowder which was rich and chock full of all sorts of shellfish including lobster and fish. No heavy potato feel to it. A woman sitting near me... More

On our 3 week trip in eastern Canada we werr delighted with many great eateries but none that could compare to this restaurant- The Chowder House seafood. Our meals were delicious especially mine - seafood pasta. We compared all other meals out east to this and it could not be beaten. For the value and deliciousness you won't be able... More

Visited this restaurant 17 years ago, and thankfully not much had changed since that visit. We stopped here Sept this year for lunch and had the crab sandwich. What sells this sandwich is their generosity with the crab. My husband wished two things after we left...one..that he purchased another one for later..and two that we were close enough to have... We had met Lynn owner of Lynn's craft shop and gallery in Ingonish Beach on our flight to the Maritimes. We were driving past so we decided to stop in and say hello. Lynn suggested the Chowder House for lunch as we were going to be driving past there sightseeing. The time was right for lunch so we gave it... More
