Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The pub itself was cosy inside and had a good sized beer garden. We had booked a table but weren't aware when booking that it was relatively near closing time. The service felt quite unfriendly and as a result of the time also quite rushed....The food was very nice so it was a shame as that did spoil the experience for us.More

After reading the reviews we picked the White Horse for lunch and we were not disappointed. Really nice pub, friendly staff and pub dogs, great beer and superb food for a fair price. We had the beef and ale pie and the toad in the...hole, which were both excellent. Make sure that you have an appetite, because the portions are very generous. We ate in the bar area because we took our dog, but there is a restaurant area as well. If you are going in an evening you may have to book, but it will be worth itMore

Food was very good. Varied menu with good veggie choices. Dogs welcome. We were a very large group and were delayed arriving. As a result welcome was luke warm and staff were very harassed. Unfortunately that did spoil the enjoyment for us.

Went as a family of eight for my son’s birthday. All the meals were superb, we all agreed the Sunday roasts were the best we’ve ever had in a pub anywhere. The desserts were absolutely delicious! The staff, service and food were all first class,...throughly recommend.More

Traditional country pub with a warm welcome. I'm a vegetarian so I chose the Celeriac Steak with truffle mash which was delicious!

The reviews are well deserved. All of our six meals were spot on. All the ingredients were well sourced, cooked and presented beautifully. Staff were friendly and happy and we had such lovely meals… not a scrap of food left and the puds!!! Ah, what...a treat Thank you White Horse. The only problem is you’ve made other roast dinners very dull and tasteless!More

I often write a review for The White Horse as it's our local, and I'm so happy with the food, warm welcome, and friendly service offered to visitors and locals alike. This week, we both had fish and chips: do you know what? it was...superb. The chef John and his team manage to elevate fish and chips to fine dining quality with a superb piece of haddock lightly coated in batter, scrumptious fries, crushed peas (delicious) and home made tartare sauce. I think it's lovely to have such a range of dishes available, so if it's a special birthday or anniversary meal you can go for three courses of luxury and if you just fancy a light bite everything is catered for.More

Wow, what a Sunday roast this was. We both had the lamb which wasn’t cheap but it was so so worth it. The meat was cooked to perfection, the Yorkshire’s were massive, the gravy was rich and the red wine I had was great too....A truly fantastic meal with friendly staffMore

Stopped off on our way back to Monmouth for dinner, was at opening time 6pm so they squeezed us in. Two menus available, dog friendly though we left ours in the van. We both had the rabbit pie, food arrived quickly and was very nice...! We def visit again if we were in the area but would book in advance.More

We came here for dinner on the last night of our holiday and were not disappointed. Two different menus which both looked delicious. I had the lambs liver which was cooked perfectly and my partner had the fish and chips. The food was absolutely delicious...and the service was so warm and friendly. We will definitely come back when we are next up this wayMore

Stopped here for Sunday Lunch after a (very) uphill walk to The Kymin nearby. We arrived quite early (for our booked time) but were welcomed and accommodated without any fuss. The service was lovely and friendly throughout and the food was excellent! I had the...black pudding & haggis bonbons for a starter which was just a great appetiser for the main that followed. We both had the sirloin beef which was plentiful and perfectly cooked, as were the accompanying vegetables. Too full for dessert, we set off for a much slower walk downhill to Redbrook afterwards!More
