Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is fantastic having a local, dog-friendly cafe almost on my doorstep to stop off at for a sweet treat while out walking the dogs. There is a good range on the menu and at the weekends they do breakfasts until 11:30am which I'm looking forward to trying at some point. I love the filled rolls, especially the bacon rolls, and there is a great selection of cakes and traybakes to choose from, all very reasonably priced and each one I've tried has been delicious. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and a lot of work has been put in to this place, well done to all involved!

Dropped in without booking on Wednesday lunchtime. Cafe was busy and a friendly welcome was appreciated. The menu is not extensive but everything we saw coming out looked good and appeared to be well received from mainly local patrons. We elected for the soup and sandwich option. The potato and leek soup arrived within minutes of ordering and it was piping hot and very tasty. I had chosen a brie, bacon and cranberry toastie to accompany the soup which was again served hot and well filled. With coffee and home made scones to follow our meal, we left feeling very satisfied in terms of food quality and quantity. Service was very friendly and value for money was impressive. We will certainly be back again.

Such an atmospheric place to visit, in the surroundings of the beautiful railway station terminus of the Caledonian Railway. The service was wonderful with quick, attentive staff, who are both friendly and welcoming. I had the fish platter and my wife a cheese toasty. Both were promptly served and were delicious. I noticed that many customers were enjoying their homemade soup, with a chunk of crusty bread. There was also a vast array of homemade cakes, of which I had a slice of coffee cake. All in all a pleasurable experience over far to soon. Also, don’t forget to look around the atmospheric Brechin station platforms, which are restored to a high standard.

Head about this place via social media so had to try it out on my trip over. Although its clean and the staff are nice...I found the soup a bit cold and the cake was quite hard to eat as it was very thick slice and very heavy...tried to get both warmed up but there seemed to be only one waitress and she was very busy. I would come back if it sorts out a few things.

This was our first visit to The Whistle Stop at the old railway station in Brechin. Was a beautiful sunny, warm day We were given the choice of table in the cafe or on the platform, which we opted for. Service was very fast and attentive. The food was good with a great selection of home made cakes and tray bakes. I had the Victoria sponge which was lovely. Will definitely return.

Could not visit the railway as it was closed till Easter. The Tea Rooms was open. Located overlooking the platform, fabulous little place for an afternoon get together with family and friend. All staff are volunteers, so did not mind spending a few quid. Well worth a visit

We all loved this coffee shop when we visited on Easter Sunday. We were in Brechin for the Easter steam train journey. We were able to book a table in advance and were welcomed when we arrived. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The service was outstanding as was the food. We are back in July for the Thomas the Tank day and will definitely book again! Thank you 😊

Lucky to get 2nd last table. Warm welcome as usual. Wendy and Lorraine still dish up the best soup and toasties ever. Good to see Whistle Stop open again after lockdown.

Popped up in for soup and a sandwich after a trip to St Cyrus beach. Wish we'd discovered this gem sooner! Love the old railway and the cafe itself is full of character. Loved the warm welcome, friendly quick service, good food and wander around the station afterwards. Thank you!

Sandwich was spot on, but the cake was even better. Lovely atmosphere with friendly service - and the fire kept me toasty warm.
